I went on a mission specifically to find it and I was SO GLAD that I came across it. Traveling oneself often means wandering around and exploring the city and of course shopping. I walked in Gamaya and immediately was impressed by the clothing selection. However, it was rebaixes and that meant that a lot of the sizing for the stuff I wanted was sold :( I'll go next time I'm in Barcelona. The shop owner is lovely, she is an Italian woman who went to uni in Barcelona and stayed to open a shop. She speaks fluent English, Italian, Catalan, Spanish. I tried on a bunch of different things and she was honest the entire time about whether anything fit or not. It may be a little pricey but again, I was there during rebaixes so things appeared reasonable to me. I want to go back to get more of her clothing in sizes that fit because i was so in love with the relaxed environment of the shop and the honesty of the owner. If you don't go, I will be sad. It is completely part of the Barcelona experience.

Even in a whirlwind visit (husband and kids waiting outside on the street), I found a fabulous purple jumpsuit and some clingy, leaf-print palazzo pants that I'm sure I'll wear for years. As expected, this place has classic sophisticated decorations with a giant mirror completely covering one wall and seats. It's not a very big space, but it's not small either. Now, to their selection. They always have brands that you've never heard of (and sometimes ones that you have heard of) but their products are almost always leather, and always comfortable and interesting. They have a range of most things that are in style at any given time, along with some beautiful handbags for the enthusiast. Naturally, this place is not very cheap. I've pretty expensive shoes around upwards of 200 here, but also less expensive things, although if you're really looking for something economic, I wouldn't really recommend this place. I hate shopping for clothes…read more why? because I have Park Avenue taste with a Chinatown budget. So when my aunt took me here, the salesman looked me up and down - and started grabbing stuff for me to try. We started with coats. moved on to jackets, then blouses, sweaters and dresses. They also have skirts and pants - but I didn't try those. He was good. Too good. I left with 5 pieces to take home and try with other things... and had to reluctantly part with 2 items. I think the clothes are all made in Italy - very well made... with prices to match. Right now, it's January, and they're having a killer sale - that's the only reason I was able to even walk into the store, and deign make a purchase. There's this other jacket that I fell in love with and decided that if at the end of the month, I still have some extra scratch & the jacket is still there, I'll get it. If not, It wasn't meant to be. In the meantime, I'm gonna love my new black wool coat, the charcoal jacket, and the sweater/dress. And I was really surprised that I would find anything that would suit me - I always had the impression that Balma was a store for older women - but I was wrong - there's lots of great stuff for us younger ones.
