My boyfriend and I decided to go to Cervecería Gandarío as it was one of the few places open on…read moreLabor Day. We tried to go to for lunch on a few other occasions, but it has been too crowded. Luckily, yesterday we were able to get seats at the bar and finally try one of their famous "tablas".
Gandarío is not really a touristy spot, so there is no English menu and the menu for the tablas is a bit confusing, but you basically have the choice between getting just french fries or french fries and meat with different types of sauces. The bartender will hand you a slip of paper and you select which sauces and type of meats you would like.The bartender highly recommended the pork fillet (cruceta de cerdo ibérico), so we tried that with chimichurri, aioli, Gandarío, and the mojo picón (spicy mojo sauce) sauces.
When we got our food, we were really pleased that there was such a nice meat to french fry ratio, as we expected that it would be mostly french fries. The meat was nicely seasoned and went very well with all of the sauces. Although all of the sauces were tasty, the aioli and Gandarío were by far our favorites. We had been planning on ordering something else after the meat plate, but it was more than enough for us. Overall, I highly recommend Gandarío and will definitely be back!
