The gondola is fully operational as of June 19, 2025 (other sites and reviews said otherwise but…read morethose are older), though the gondola service will be suspended if it's too windy. During peak hours you could be waiting up to 2 hours to board the gondola. It only traverses once every 30-40 minutes and it's how they limit the flow of people through the caves. Once in the caves, you cannot self-tour. There are multiple guides who put you in groups of 20 or so, and you stay with your group. It's 190 pesos / adult round trip to take gondola to the cave entrance, or 50 pesos / adult to walk round trip (keep your ticket if you take the gondola as they check it at top, bottom, and return!) Walking trail *not* recommended for hot days. There is no shade. The cave is a steady 18*C year round, day or night. I usually get cold easily and I wish I had not brought my jacket. It's not cold inside. It's mildly cool / warm and with all the steps you might even get hot. Plenty of parking during non-peak hours. Expedia has tour bookings here for $57 / person including transportation and the cost of your gondola ticket.

But the positive level of personalized attention and service from the staff at the front desk, the restaurant, and the room cleaners is really appreciated. THE FOOD: Wherever I travel I always enjoy trying new foods. The staff at Holiday Inn near the university always help me explore the menu as well as put together special dishes for me to try. LIFELONG STUDENT: I enjoy learning something new all the time. As I speak a little Spanish, my trips to Mexico give me an opportunity to learn it better and better. The staff at Holiday Inn near the university always help me learn more while I stay here. By the 3rd or 4th day, my memory is refreshed and we're doing pretty well communicating more and more in Spanish. It makes the stay more enjoyable and I feel like I've learned more Spanish in a convenient, non-stressful way. The gym is very nice and equipped as well, with free water bottles and towels as well. The views from the rooms at any side of the hotel are always amazing.

It's important to note that there's another Holiday Inn nearby so make sure you're going to the right one. Location-wise, it's amazing! It's right next to Parque Fundidora, which is one of the places you should visit if it's your first time. You can just walk through the building towards the food court area and use the pedestrian bridge to cross. The park also leads to Paseo Santa Lucía, which is another Monterrey thing to experience. There's also an Oxxo and 7 eleven right across the street so if you need to buy water or snacks, it's super convenient. This was a pretty affordable option and the facilities are really nice because they're brand new and very clean. Service was amazing. The staff was always attentive and ready to help. It's also great that their continental breakfast is included. It's not exactly the same every day so it's nice that they mix is up. Some days we had pancakes, others chilaquiles, others even menudos. A little more than just continental! The most amazing thing about this place are the views. We absolutely loved enjoying beautiful views of el Cerro de la Silla and the entire city from our rooms, the side windows, and their amazing terrace. It was magical at night too! Highly recommend!

The people at the front desk were not especially friendly nor engaging but once they get to you they are thorough and efficient. The lobby and common areas are pleasant and nicely decorated. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The towels are about average. The pillows and linens are clean and nice. There was an in room coffee service, but I didn't try it. The room also has a flat screen TV, iron and ironing board, plenty of drawers, closet space, a desk, etc. An insulated ice bucket is provided on a shelf in the entertainment center. To get ice you must ask a server from the restaurant (inside courtyard/patio). I was provided two keys. One I used to power the room (nothing, not even the AC works until a key is placed in a little control near the room door). The medium sized pool is nice and has a jacuzzi area with jets, although it is NOT hot water. The water from the jacuzzi pool waterfalls into the larger pool. There is an exercise room facing the pool, but there is little there. The main weight lifting exercise machine is not operable. Cables are unattached. So it is useless. No free weights. The restaurant has a good (but not great) breakfast: eggs with chopped up hotdogs, chilaquiles (good), beans, fruit, coffee, juices. There are plenty of electrical outlets to charge your devices and the free wifi is excellent. Shuttle service is available to and from the airport. A nice restaurant is right next door. To go anywhere else on foot would be challenging and dangerous. There is a shopping center close by with more restaurants and shopping, but I would recommend getting a taxi or an Uber rather than hoofing it along the busy and dangerous highway. There are no sidewalks, and there are uncovered manholes, etc., along the way. Some improvement is needed but overall a nice place to sleep for a business trip. There is a Best Western Premier Hotel located on the Airport Boulevard and which is newer and nicer (obviously closer to the airport). This particular one is the Best Western Plus, less fancy and less expensive, located on the Miguel Aleman highway. Both offer shuttle service to and from the airport.

The location is excellent because there are a variety of restaurants and shopping venues within a short walking distance. The Galerias Mall is just a short block away. The Macro Plaza and downtown is also just a short drive away. Cintermex is about a 20 minute drive. The airport is 36 kilometers away; depending on traffic, it is about a 45 to 60 minute drive. The hotel has underground parking. There is also a convenient motor lobby and limited parking in the back for quick drop-offs or pick-ups. Once you park, go up to the main lobby for check in. A room key is required to use the elevator to floors where the rooms are and to the rooftop where there is a gym, pool, and a place to gather and chat with friends while enjoying the view. My room was clean, pristine and very comfortable. There was a an iron and ironing board to freshen up your clothes, a place for hang-ups, drawers for items you don't want to keep in your suitcase, a large flat screen TV, several electrical outlets, and amazing views of the city. There is an onsite restaurant / bar, and room service. I did not eat there, but there are plenty of restaurants nearby. The hotel staff was friendly and efficient. Rooms are cleaned daily unless you request them not to. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would stay there again.
