They serve chips with salsa and bean dip when you are seated and continue refilling throughout your meal. I don't really like beans in general but they had a decent flavor to them. The salsa was yummy and chips were fresh. I enjoyed the decor throughout the place and it felt very festive. Overall I would return but sometimes a pet peeve when going to a sit in restaurant is when I have to ask for utensils when I visibly have something that requires utensils but that was a smaller thing. We went on New Year's Eve around 8pm so it wasn't that busy so we were checked on a decent amount and seated right away. My boyfriend ordered the enchilada and chimichanga, he didn't really enjoy the chimichanga but he devoured the enchilada. The quesabirria tacos were decent, I'm pretty sure k was also supposed to receive a spicy salsa with mine which would've been nice because for me it was missing a good kick in flavor. Shocked and delighted so see my beloved El Tap is now in Natomas. My husband and I have patronized the Citrus Heights location for many years. I felt like we were cheating on the CH location, but we decided to support the Natomas restaurant since it's in our backward. They are still new; figuring out staffing, customer experience, etc., and hope more patrons will extend grace as the location acclimates to Natomas. The one downer is Natomas does not have near as many margarita flavors as the CH location. Secondly on taco Tuesdays at CH, the flavor of the day is on the chalkboard as soon as you walk in. Nice staff, good location, those who are used to other locations need to understand this is a new location and there will be differences. Same brand, same food, different location. We may venture back to CH due to the daiquiri menu alone but otherwise food was good. Doesn't come out as swiftly as CH even with less patrons but again the location is new so patience would be good. read more

Fun date night enjoyed at El Tapatio, close to home in Natomas. Live music made the atmosphere more lively. It was very busy on a Friday night, but they seated us within 15 minutes of walking in. We enjoyed the colorful decor! The food was pretty good, with reasonable prices and a large menu selection. We had the steak molcajete and garlic shrimp. Overall, we love having this sit-down restaurant with live music in Natomas. We can easily have a fun night with the entire family and kids. We're glad they took over this location. read more

I've always enjoyed coming to El Tapatio, but I've been having a very unpleasant experience with the server named Shaw (brunette with glasses). First time around she was very attentive and welcoming of the other tables she was serving, but when it came to our table she would barely check up on us and was very judgmental of what we ordered. The second time around we ended up getting her again and she again treated us very passively. She asked what we wanted to drink in which I replied "i'll take a water" and without having the rest of the table say their drink choice, she just walked away. She came back with the waters and just placed it on our table without saying anything. She then came back quickly, not even 10 minutes since we sat down and asked if we were ready to order, again cutting us off at the end before we finished ordering and walked away. We tried giving her the benefit of the doubt first time around, but this time it really showed how poor of a server she is. We witnessed her talking to her other tables having conversations, but with us there was no effort. We paid cash and she asked if we wanted change and I said no you can keep the rest and she walked away without saying thank you or have a good night, also when I was mid sentence. Having this very poor experience with Shaw numerous times makes me want to never come back to this location again. The ladies with the blue shirts were more attentive and caring than Shaw. read more

I was visiting Sacramento and saw this place as we were headed to another store. My sister and so decided to have a late lunch early dinner. I had a Cadillac margarita and she had a pomegranate one, I think. It doesn't matter, both drinks were delicious. On to the food. At the table they give you chips, salsa and refried beans to munch on while you are waiting. The chips were fresh and warm. The refried beans were not necessary. I ordered the Fiajitaquidilla (sp) and my sister ordered the carne asada plate. She was not asked how she would like her meat cooked so it came well done. Usually well done meat is dry and tough, but hers was not, so she did not send it back. My dish was from the appetizer menu and was more than I could eat, especially after munching on chips, refried beans and salsa. I ate 1/4 of the quesadillas. The meat was tender and the quesadillas were cheesy. It came with rice, beans and guacamole. It may have come with sour cream, I don't remember. After eating a small portion of our food, we packed it up and went home. Everything reheated well the next day in the air fryer, even my sisters well done carne asada plate. Will I go back, maybe. It was a little pricey, I think with tip I paid almost $80 for two people. read more

So excited that El Tapatio has another location. This is my favorite sit down, family friendly Mexican restaurant in Sacramento. This location isn't as big as the one in CH but they've done an extraordinary job re-doing the former on the border. The decor is great and the food is just as delicious. Each time I've gone, the restaurant has been buzzing and the servers hustling. The drinks are strong and they're generous with the beans and salsa. I especially love the spicy salsa verde and habanero salsa. My go to is the carne asada plate and I'm making my way thru the menu trying other dishes. The potato taquitos in the bar are a hit. Gotta say, good food but be aware of the prices. First off the chips, salsa and bean dip you recieve upon being seated is great. Very flavorful salsa and bean dip with cheese is also delicious. My only issue is the food is overpriced. A simple Steak burrito, with beans and rice inside was $27!! Nothing else on the plate! I ordered the steak as my meat choice, and only after getting the bill did I notice they charged me another $6 for it. Usually that is a normal meat option, not an upcharge. Would have been helpful if the server mentioned the extra charge. Overall good food, but no basic burrito should be $27. So prob not returning simply because its not worth the price. read more

Wow! Everything from service to the food was so good. Natomas was in need of a good Mexican restaurant (not just little taqueria's). To start, Izzy, our server was the best. Once the waitress finally got to our table she greeted us with a smile and then once she realized my toddlers were having fun playing with eachother she turned her smile into annoyance. She kept passing by our table looking a different direction as if she was completly ignoring us . We had to start asking for help from the bussers because our waitress just would not show up. However, if you are helping your other 3 tables only ,who do not have kids at the table , and completely ignore the one table with kids, I think this is an issue. The sign says 9am open. They advertised "Brunch". We arrive at 10:30 and are told they're not open till 11 and told they're not doing brunch until late November mid December and just put the sign out this morning . So we waited till 11 to get in. We were the first ones seated (party of 4) and there was a long line. Once seated, we waited over an hour for someone to take our order. Everybody else that came in after us had already eaten. We discussed our dissatisfaction with the manager, at least he said he was the manager‍, and he offered us a free drink, which is almost comical at this point. We get our food and the food was probably a 3/5. I ordered a shrimp molcajete. It literally was filled to the brim with salsa Verde with beans floating in it and some shrimp. Way too much sauce. It was like the ingredients were floating in a salsa Verde soup. Let's just say this is definitely not like the sunrise location. If it's the same owners, they know how to run a business and know how to make food. It's a little confusing on what we experience. However, they did sing happy birthday to my friend. Anybody knows when you open a restaurant you need to have everything ready, don't open if your short staff or you're not ready to mirror your other locations. People won't return. We definitely want to try to give them another chance and hope to return when they have brunch because this is an extremely convenient location. I just think taking 25% off our bill was not enough.. $20 off $170.00 for the three hour excursion. Just didn't seem equal. But at least they recognized their ongoings. read more
