Hubby has lived by here for almost 2 years and never went in. I'm like let's go! Glad we did! So good! Authentic tacos! We shared steak and chicken tacos (it was taco Tuesday so that's all we wanted!) and they were DELICIOUS! Hearty and flavorful indeed! I had a michelada and he had a lime margarita and a shot. Both were on point! The service was great and friendly. We enjoyed just sitting there and eating. The staff were so nice and friendly to us. It's a beautiful Mexican restaurant with great culture. They also have a bar too so we are going to go back soon! Only reason 4 out of 5 stars is that they didn't have happy hour or a taco special :) read more

I love to see local businesses thrive. This one especially. It's been in the neighborhood for years and hasn't lost its sense of good food or good service. We mostly order food to go, and it's always quick and very fresh. Inside though, they have good drink selections and a nice place to sit down and relax and enjoy a meal. Went here for work lunch...not gonna lie was expecting to spend $10 at max for a burrito. I spent $17! I didn't even get a drink!!! Came at the recommendation of one of my besties; she grew up on the East Side (yes, Chicago has an East Side!), and while I've been to there a few times I haven't been looking for a place to eat. I was looking in Hegewisch since it's also right there and I've never been to Hegewisch. My friend specifically said their chillaquiles with red sauce are phenomenal, and whilst I love chilaquiles I opted for something else this time. My meal started out with chips and salsa as is traditional at Mexican restaurants. Their salsa is hot! That's not a criticism--it was good. Just hot, so if you're not into spicy food, you won't like this. I ordered a combo meal of a sope, enchilada, and gordita. The sope and gordita were both chicken and I got the enchilada with cheese only. When it first came out something seemed off... the meat was really dark but I wondered if it was dark meat chicken. But it was so dark that didn't make a lot of sense, and finally I decided to ask rather than taste it first. Apparently it was steak, so she had the chef make me the correct items with chicken. It was so delicious! And huge. The ingredients were all nice and fresh and my sope had a big slice of avocado in it, yum. I was so full and probably should have ordered just a sope or two because I was ready to burst. I was the only one in restaurant, but it was Thursday, around 5:30, in one of the least densely populated neighborhoods in the city. They seem to do a good takeout business; there were several people that came in to pick up an order whilst I was here. The restaurant is very clean, and the service is good and also friendly. Honestly, I love that we live so close. Haven't had any issues and the food has always been good. We normally do not find since we do carry out, but it always has several customers when we pick up our food. The staff is friendly and pretty quick. Have ordered from just tacos to langostinos and haven't been disappointed yet. Parking can be hard depending on the hour but the neighborhood is pretty safe. read more

Cute little neighborhood place. Lots of places make tacos and they're usually pretty good. I look for the small touches. Like homemade tasty frijoles. Not skimping on the meat flavor and with a few whole beans. Service was very good. The micheladas,longostinos, tampiqueña, and service are a 8 ,right around the corner from me it's a low key spot to go to that is on point with everything they have. They ladies are older are very humble and nice people, I believe it's family owned. read more

The food is typically always great. Unfortunately the fish taco, and I'm a big fish taco person, was not good. Glad I only ordered one. Service was decent. It was early morning and I wanted to see what drinks they offer after noticing the margarita glasses. I wasn't asking to have a drink. After the woman misunderstood me the first time, I repeated that I want to see the drink menu to come back later. She still said "bar closed no open right now" smh I will still come back because I enjoy their food and it isn't overpriced. read more

I didn't even know that this place existed until someone told me about it. It is on a street that once was bustling with business. Not many travel down this street unless they have to. Well I am going to give you a good reason to travel down this street. This fairly new restaurant and the fairly new ice cream place next door. Actually, I didn't write anything about this place until I visited this place at least a few times to see if there was any merit to some of the downright mean reviews. I am glad to say that they are unfounded. I found the staff here to be very nice and the food very good. It is a nice cozy neighborhood place that makes you feel at home with their smiles. So far I have enjoyed the delicious tacos, gorditas, and tortas. I also tried pozole which is one of their weekend specials. Pozole is soup that is made with pork and hominy and the red version has a garlicy pepper laced broth. Never had pozole? No problem, this is one of my favorite stick to your ribs soups! When made correctly this soup is outstanding. Well I'm glad to report that this restaurant makes an excellent version. The only thing that I did not like was the fact that they did not make their own dried chili salsa in house for this. I was given the following condiments: sliced cabbage, radishes, onions, limes and a little bit of bottled hot sauce. Yes, bottled hot sauce?!? the bad thing about the bottled hot sauce is that it had a sweet tinge to it, which I did not like. The good news is that the pozole was also excellent without it. The food has always been consistently very good. If you have not visited, then, yes you are missing out. Without hesitation, I do recommend this place. This neighborhood lacks nice restaurants like this, therefore, please support your local well run businesses. Even if you are not familiar with Mexican food the friendly bilingual staff will gladly assist you some tailored recommendations. As for the reviewer that did not like his gyros. Tacos are small and expensive only comes with onions and cilantro. But there fries are bomb.com oh yes sooooo good I always come here just for the fries haven't tried anything else besides fries and tacos they are nice and they keep the place clean. read more

Carne asada is a favorite of the protein selection, and the salsas are fresh with just the right amount of heat. Mostly ordered tacos, but the tortas hit the spot too. Horchata is delicious. Great local spot for authentic Mexican cuisine. The service is pretty fast, and the staff are very polite and welcoming. Definitely give this place a try! read more
