Hubby got the mackerel and the veggie terrine. He said the mackerel was the best he ever had. I got the tomato salad and the tacos. Both were very good. I can't find it five stars because i felt the menu was limited and my dishes did not blow me away. Had my expectations been lower i would give five stars.

I recommend making a reservation "Alta" which is the balcony seating -- in the evening, once it's cooled down, it's a beautiful setting. The food is fresh with amazing combination for flavors. The service is just.... Pure hospitality! Our server was so kind as we were tired from being out in the heat all day and he had a great sense of humor and made us feel incredibly at home. The tasado taco is an amazing blend of flavors. They have amazing mole -- with two mole trios -- or dedicated mole dishes. The mole negro is incredible! And the Coloradito with pork belly was my fav. I love the small (invisible during the day) restaurant with only 3 tables, if you come with a group they can but tables and chairs outside also. The family that runs it are very friendly and efficient. They cook the Tlayudas and meat outside and prepare them inside together with the tostadas (hard tacos with meat, cheese and vegetables). I personally love the Tlayudas with Quesillo. You can add tasajo (thin steak type meat) but the Tlayuda sencillo, so only cheese is more than enough for me. Of course with a nice refreshing drink, if you want they also have coffee and Champurrado (a drink that tastes like hot chocolate). The best thing of this place is that it's in the same street as the botanic garden/Santo Domingo church, it's pretty cheap and it's open daily from about 8pm to 1:30am.

I got the soup and my boyfriend got the salad. The soup was a little oily and bland. It was red broth with bow tie noodles. I needed to add a lot of salt to it. The salad looked good. It had a lot of carrots on it. Also, it had coconut, which was unexpected. I'm glad that I got the soup though. For the entree, I got the pollo barbacoa and my boyfriend ordered the tacos. We were given four options to pick from. The sauce for the chicken was good and it also included rice and vegetables. For dessert, we were given a small plate with sliced carrots, raisins, and cream. It was super weird and not my thing. I don't like carrots though. My boyfriend thought it tasted like cake frosting.

Instead of hospitality, we were met with rudeness and hostility. There was no effort to communicate calmly or work with us despite the fact that we had planned ahead and made reservations responsibly. I have never been treated the way she treated us. It was embarrassing and disappointing, especially on such a special occasion. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I would not recommend this establishment. No one should be treated the way we were!
