On a busy Friday night, we held my daughter's wedding rehearsal dinner for 24 people and it was a great evening! Working with Nadine in the corporate office to plan the event was terrific. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were given sort of a back room all to ourselves. Christian and Karen were excellent servers and the food and drinks were very tasty! We had a pre-set menu with 2 appetizer options and 5 entree options, so everyone had an opportunity for a delicious dinner. Then, there were 3 dessert choices. Everyone loved the food, the staff was amazing and attentive, and we all had a great time! Had we not had an early morning the next day to prepare for the wedding, we would have stopped in the bar which looked to be a great time! This time I'm giving a 1 star review for service only as the food is always good. 3 weeks ago about 6 of us got together for taco Tuesday and the young waitress lady seemed to be new and overwhelmed we we're patient until we noticed that her 2 other tables that got there almost 15 mnts after us were served 1st!! We didn't even get water and chips even after reminding her about 3 times!! It took her almost an hour just for that! Then everything else went down hill she asked for a card to hold I gave her mine but we all told her it'd be separate checks the service continued to take a long time the place was empty compared to other nights she just couldn't get it together. When we closed out she brought us one bill and literally said WE should review the bill and split it ourselves one of my friends asked for the manager she came over and split the bill for us and gave us a discount BUT once again the waitress messed up my bill I looked at her directly and told her "since you have my card you can charge my tab which was 2 tacos and 3 beers BUT the problem was that when she 1st took my card she charged $10 and then charged me separately for the 2 tacos and 3 beers. So at the end of the day she over charged me $10 the only reason I didn't go back or call to discuss the extra charges was because I moved out of state that same week! We've been going there for several years and have rarely or ever had a bad experience Uuuugh read more

Went here before a concert in Ontario. With it being Valentine's Day, the restaurant was not as busy as I anticipated. We were sat quickly as we had reservations. Our drink order was taken and we ordered an appetizer. The appetizer came and then the drinks some time later. We all had the black diamond margarita. For the description and the price, it seemed like a good deal. But it had very little alcohol and the "extra pour" in the shaker was mostly melted ice and only filled the glass maybe 1/3. The food came out later and was ok. I can't say it's was great or even good. The flavors were bland and it was haphazardly put together. Much like the appetizer. Previous to this time, it's been several years since I've been to an El Torito. It'll probably be several years before I decide to go again. We're from San Diego where all the El Toritos closed a few years ago so we were happy to find that this one was still open. The service was great and the food came super fast and hot! We ended up coming back later that night for drinks and desserts, and the wait staff was still amazing. read more

When my roommate responded "diharrito" to my coming here for dinner I should have listened. The food was subpar. I ordered the Mexican pizza. The only thing good in that abomination was the cured onions. Hyperthin flour leaf base that tasted like what you would use to make those hundred layer pastries with black bean puree topped with typical faux Mexican toppings. I would no have been surprised if they managed to make onions taste bad. My father attempted to eat this shrimp taco plate with that to be honest should have been sent back but he is a man of principle and said I ordered it I'll eat it. Fine. Out of the respect for the lives that were taken from these poor shrimp he ate them. But the rice and beans were toooo much to bear. The tomatoes and onions were beyond gone bad everything. The corn tortilla fell apart instantly in its sogginess. Not even the Pepsi or the root beer we had was good. All the Mexican grandmas in our group gave thumbs down. I had such a great experience at Sunday brunch that I returned to Taco Tuesday! I didn't tell my son who joined us during brunch but he has my location and quickly found learned where I was. He sent me the text below! I couldn't stop laughing! He caught me and demanded tacos! He enjoyed the tacos just as much as I did. Once again everyone provided great service. If authentic Mexican food is what you're going for, this place is not it. They had a pretty good happy hour menu but the flavor was lacking for me. I was SO excited about the corn but it's nothing like an actual elote/esquite. It tasted much more Americanized than I was going for. I originally came here with my cousin to catch up over drinks and it was one of the few places that were opened later on a Sunday so they definitely get points for that. The fries has a slightly sour/tangy taste to it. The flautas and the tacos were the best part but I really wouldn't have been able to enjoy my meal if it wasn't for the queso dip. read more

Food was fair/good. We went during the week, there was no waiting time to be seated. Overall seemed like the restaurant wasn't too busy. I ordered the spinach enchiladas. It did take a while to be greeted by a server. He was serving a larger party. I just feel like they should have been staffed better to accommodate the during the week patrons. Just enjoyed a great evening catching up with a good friend and celebrating her birthday at El Torito in Ontario. Our server Rosa was fantastic. She gave extraordinary service and assured that we had everything we needed from start to finish. The food was well prepared and full of flavor.
