Sadly, in the field of Elder Law, everything is just, well...sad. I have recently had to navigate this field. There are no winners, how can there be when dealing with the misfortunes of your loved one. It is a rather complicated field, with margin of error very slim and potentially large consequences. In searching for information, I read reviews. I read reviews of hospitals, nursing homes, lawyers. It is quite easy to find bad reviews on just about any topic or institution. I found it to be quite stressful. It seems every hospital is horrible, never bring your loved one to this place or that one...the bad experiences people write about seemed to made it very hard, especially when those writings might contradict my own personal experience of some of those places. And that is why I am writing this review. I wish to thank Attn. Ryan Smollar for his help in my own situation. I found his staff, including his secretary and his paralegals, to have been compassionate, caring, knowledgeable. I will share one example of the knowledge they shared with me: In many ways, all hospitals, nursing homes, intensive nursing facilities are the same. What separates the outcomes is how much the loved one is visited by their own loved ones. I just thought that was good advice and I thought is demonstrated their compassion. read more

I was referred to Elder Law in December 2016 to begin planning for Medicaid application for my brother who was in declining health. I dealt mostly with Monica Morales at Elder Law. She was exceptional in all aspects. Her knowledge of the Medicaid process but most importantly her concern and compassion in guiding me through each step was re-assuring. When my brother's condition worsened and placed on Hospice following the Doctors certification of necessity for skilled nursing care, Monica went into action quickly and submitted the Medicaid application. Approval was obtained in a matter of weeks. Monica guided me throughout the process with her steady hand and experience. Ultimately my brother was placed in a Nursing Home with assistance from Sonja Kobrin, whom I first met at Elder Law, whose separate but allied business entity, helps to place persons in suitable facilities. Sonja and her staff helped me through the process and my brother was placed in Manor Care, Boynton Beach, where he receives excellent care. I can't say enough good things about Elder Law. I am writing this on behalf of Ms.Janet de la Cruz. Ms. Cruz she was our paralegal, for my mother and I. My mother is currently at a rehab facility and Ms.Cruz helped us so much. She helped me with all the paperwork necessary to get my mother on Medicaid, also helped with the legalities of transferring ownership of our house, from my mother to me and other legal issues. Like most seniors, I am 74 and my wife is 69, we expected to live retirement carefree and happy. However, my wife's mother, who is 98, required a lot of help because of a massive stroke in Aug. 2017. We had placed her in an Assisted Living facility two years earlier, and were happy with her environment. But when the stroke hit her the Assisted Living facility could not help her. After hospitalization and rehabilitation, Medicare stepped away from funding her full time nursing needs. So we approached Elder Law through a field representative here in Orlando. We then were contacted by Monica Morales, who guided us through the process of assembling information and submitting application for Florida's Medicaid process. We could never have gotten such prompt and professional care as Monica provided. Within 45 days of guidance we got all the paperwork accomplished, and the application was submitted. We received approval then within 30 days and the rest is history. I don't know how anybody who doesn't have legal knowledge can maneuver the legal morass that Medicaid presents. Please be very careful at this office. Go to a more ethical and professional practice. This man charged our account while my healthy mother was being taken to hospitals by a hospice nurse we did not hire. My mother was never terminally ill! He said he was saving us money but he was making our money and charging our accounts while he said he was saving us money then he said we needed a loan to keep charging us. He said he was going to remove the hospice nurse immediately and get our bank account back to us immediately but failed to do so and instead kept charging our account. His office gave us a very expensive folder of useless papers. This guy is practicing dangerously and shouldn't be allowed to do this to innocent healthy 72 yr old women. read more

I have no idea why a previous reviewer gave this company only 1 star. I had a positive experience. I dealt with this firm extensively after my husband's stroke, and at a time, when I felt lost on where and how to get help. Janet De La Cruz, my case worker, was phenomenal, patient, responsive and professional. She suggested the wonderful Pace program for my husband. She completed all the extensive paperwork to get him accepted. I highly recommend this law office. They are dedicated and understand the needs of seniors. This firm has not only disappointed, it has misrepresented and then relinquished any culpability to the error. I have decided to litigate, as they have not chosen to right a wrong they made. The firm has also tried to cover up the issues by firing a dementia client for not "complying with directives". She doesn't know what day it is, who is the president and what season she is seeing.
