This was my first visit to Electric Dough & it will likely be my last. Upon entering, I ordered an appetizer and cocktail at the front counter and took my order number to the bar area where I planned to enjoy Trivia Night. Once you reach the bar area, there is a sign that says that area is full service only & the one available table had a note stating the same. I took that to mean that I could not sit there since I had ordered at the counter. There is no signage at the front of the restaurant explaining this setup - I checked as I left to confirm. I asked a bartender if I could sit at the bar & was asked not to since I had already ordered up front. I think this entire situation needs to be clear as you enter. The above situation is not the major source of my complaint about my visit. I ordered the Meatballs + Ricotta app & a Bird on the Wire cocktail. The cocktail was good, but the meatballs and marinara on my app were ice cold. I walked the plate back up to the service window & asked if it was supposed to be served that way. The food runner stated it wasn't & essentially said - oh a new batch just came out so I'll get you a fresh, hot serving. This was a pretty off-putting comment that came across as - yeah, we served you a portion that wasn't fresh and that's why it was cold. And packs all the history and the one 'electrifying' place we like the back bar just look for the multiple chandeliers in the back and let the party begin. The staff is fun and used to high volume energy and super talented fun people that live in San Marco. Being from LA we dont eat but are a thirsty duo. We only drank here, but the delicious pizza smells good enough to feel like we were eating it as well. We came on Halloween night since we were in the neighborhood and hungry. I was very impressed with the inside when walking in. Signage was good so we weren't confused on what to do. The poor beans had nothing to really stay on. The Old Fashioned was better, though it leaned too sweet for my husband's taste. Food The highlight of the evening was, surprisingly, the meatballs. Though small, they were tender, flavorful, and topped with marinara, parmesan, and fresh basil. I'd definitely order them again. The pizza, however, was underwhelming. Given their focus on "Roman style" pizza, I expected it to come out with a crisp crust. Very delayed review, but my friend and I dined in on Halloween to finally try here. The decor was super cute, and I loved the old-time movie monsters playing on the wall. I ordered the meatballs and ricotta appetizer to start, and it was excellent. There wasn't as much ricotta as the image online had. Very minimal and would have liked more, but it was still delicious. The garlic bread with it was delicious. For my pizza, I got the mighty Quinn since I was in the mood for a white pizza. It was good. Not my favorite, but still good. It reheated well, too. We sat at the bar so we could enjoy a cocktail before ordering. The bartender served us fairly quickly. Right after we placed a food order a family with a baby sat right next to t to us at the bar. I didn't think children were allowed at the bar?? We ordered the Ricotta trio with toast points. The ricotta was delicious but the "toast points" were really only pieces of bread warmed up. We visited Electric Dough on opening day just after the lunch hour. There was a steady stream of customers but it wasn't overly packed while we were there. The menu has a few appetizers, notably all with cheese; salads; signature pizzas; a build-your-own pizza section; and a kids menu with three options. They also have a gelato case with dairy and non-dairy (sorbet) options, and a soon-to-be option to pick up food to heat at home. We tried the Detroit Baller pizza and a kids pepperoni plate. The pizza is all Detroit-style, with cheese and toppings over the entirety of the pizza to the edge and it's made to order. They looked well done and they were both very good. The focaccia like crust was soft and pillowy with a great little crunch. The Detroit Baller one had perhaps one too many sauces - calabrian chili aioli, cacio y pepe sauce, and Ed's red sauce drizzle. The meatballs were really the only solid topping and they were scarce. The pepperoni pizza ate a little dry and perhaps could've benefited from a little more sauce. The location is easy to find with an industrial type bar vibe inside with TVs and a message projected on the wall. The Tractor sodas were very sweet but some of the flavors were interesting such as coconut or lemongrass. I enjoyed the teas, lemonades, and other flavored drinks better. I sampled the strawberry pitaya tractor slushee, which didn't have much sweetness to it. This will likely be a popular place and I'm glad we were able to try it early. If parking weren't such an issue in the area, I'm sure we'd plan to stop by several more times to try some of their other menu items. read more

Visited this newly opened pizza (and more) shop in the old San Marco Theatre. It was fun to try to remember where everything was when you walked in. The remodel is beautiful. It's spacious for plenty of people and really nicely put together. Tried the cacio e pepe and the Godfather pizzas. The cacio e pepe was very mild in flavor but great if you love cheese. Not much of a pepper flavor though. The Godfather was much more flavorful. Really nice dough on both. Crispy edges, moist inside. Meatballs - a lot better than they looked. they are on the tiny side. 7.8/10 Classic Caprese - wasn't a big fan. 6/10 Godfather - They've got the meats 8/10 Additionally, they went with Tractor for their beverages (organic, non gmo); I like the idea.. but the majority of the sodas were a hard pass. We recently paid a visit to Electric Dough in Sam Marco. When you walk in, you'll see a very clean, eclectic interior with bright, white brick walls, unique lighting and just a touch of elegance. They also do a great job of honoring the historic fact that this was once a movie theater. A huge old school movie camera is at the entrance and they air silent movies on the white wall of the dining room to enhance the mood. You order upon walking in, take a number and they bring your food to you. Our service was friendly, quick and attentive. You are also given your cup and there is a vast selection of Tractor drinks to choose from. I tried the diet soda and no sugar added fruit drinks along with the iced tea. They were all very good. Even if you're a NY or Chicago style purist, I highly encourage you to try the pizza here. It's "Detroitish" style and very good. Thick crust but light and flaky. Great edges and flavorful. We tried the Caio a Pepe which featured a delicious blend of three different cheeses. We also ordered the Mediterranean salad which was delicious as well. In fact, putting the salad atop of the pizza was a brilliant food hack that was extremely tasty. Very reasonably priced as well for what you get. Try this place out. First experience at Electric Dough and it was a great one. I love the atmosphere and you can either have full table service or order at the counter. We dined for lunch and had the recommended Mighty Quinn which if you're a mushroom fan you will absolutely love the fresh local mushrooms! The thick crust is buttery and delicious. After having gelato in Italy and having high expectations, the hazelnut crunch had a nice flavor but I thought could definitely be a little creamier. What a fun place! I love how big the space was and how they transformed the old theater into a really fun hangout for families and groups! The style of the restaurant was trendy but also casual! Having quick service and not a huge menu was such a plus and super easy to make decisions! The pimento cheese was fire and the spicy pepper jelly was awesome on top! Soooo yummy! First, love the build out, nice and new inside, open with out feeling cavernous, especially because this used to be a movie theater. Order at the counter then they bring you your food, we got 2 pizzas to try and a drink from their fancy soda fountain with wonderful flavors to try...lemongrass!! Lots of juices to try also. Now to the pizza it's delicious! I don't know how anyone could not like this, it is like a focaccia bread with cheese and toppings on it, so light and bouncy and crunchy on the edges. Love it! If you have tried Pratti pizza at the town center this is the same ( same Chef owner) I will say if your expecting papa Johns style pizza this is not it. And prices run a bit more, think about $25 per pizza, but getting better quality food. Ended the meal with gelato, tried the pistachio and it was amazing!
