Bad Dog Bar doesn't have tvs, doesn't have pokies and doesn't have tap beer and for goodness sakes never order an apple-tini :) and that's the way we like it. Top Tip: order the pickleback - rye bourbon shot followed by some freshly made pickle juice. The SMoking Joint cocktail is also a fav!

Set to feel like a side street in a town, you will notice a subway chair on entry and three small stores. First up a deli prepping cured meat awesomeness, next up a barber and finally a recording studio. And yes, there is a barber set up on Friday night to get a cut while you enjoy a few drinks. It is quite well set up and really does create a different feeling in a bar. You are stepping off Rundle Street onto another street upstairs. In the middle you will find a long bar and a range of booths. Bottles of spirits line the back and four taps for brews. The cocktail menu has some twists to old favourites. I went for The Dreamer as I am a whisky girl. It was a good cocktail, a little acidic and fresh. It was a good cocktail, but nothing that really stands out in a crowd for $20. Next time I will order the Old Fashioned which had some coconut in it from memory. Interesting. What I really like about this bar is the aesthetics. It's almost trying to create an experience that no one else is doing with the shop fronts. I think it's quite clever. The owner here is a real sweetheart and really trying to do something different. Give it a few months and I think that this bar will be pumping! Well done for effort and looking forward to see this bar grow.

Its opening night was definitely no secret but entrance almost is; To get up to the bar you need to look out for the neon 'B' from Rundle Street (easy to walk straight past) I like the kind of 'neighbourhood' theme the bar is going for, which a string of local shops. After you walk through the subway station there's the delicatessen which serves up small bar foods and cold cuts. They have Vincenzo's barber if you need a trim (different opening hours to main bar) Soundpond have also got a little radio station setup down the end as well. The bar area was a lot smaller than I thought it would be, considering how much floor space the whole venue takes up. There are seats all the way along the bar which does make ordering a drink a bit awkward. Also I think the music could have been turned back down to 11, it was pretty much impossible to have a conversation within five metres of the bar. I liked one of their signature cocktails 'Pistols at Dawn' with Chipotle infused Tequila with capsicum and some other things. The first mouthful tasted like a pepperoni pizza which I kind of enjoyed. Overall I really liked the vibe and atmosphere at BRKLYN. I'd be keen to try the food selection next time, hopefully when the hype calms down a bit.

HOMOPHOBIC STAFF…read more Last night on the 8th of June I went to Mr Goodbar with a group of friends and ordered multiple drinks, had a good time, and made friends with a new group. However, as I was exiting the bar with my group, I stopped on the stairs to wait for a friend who was in the toilet. The bouncer approached me and asked me to exit the premises, to which I responded that I was on my way out with my group of friends, I was just waiting for a friend in the bathroom as I said I would. The bouncer responded to this in an agitated manner, telling me that I need to 'get out'. There was no commotion that proceeded this aggravated response, however my friend was exiting the bathrooms at that exact moment, to which I highlighted, stating that 'my friend is literally coming out of the bathroom right now, see? We are all leaving right now, what is the problem?' I proceeded to head down the stairs to meet my friends who were waiting on the street, and as I was exiting the door of this establishment, the bouncer went out of his way to say "that's right, get the hell out of here you faggot." I will be honest, and admit that this comment enraged me, and I responded with something along the lines of "Excuse me, what the actual f**k did you just call me? Did you just call me a faggot? Do you want to say that again??" At this response, the bouncer raised a closed fist to my face, centimetres away, tell me to f**k off, and asking if I wanted a fight. I highlighted the fact that I had a group of friends with me that numbered close to 8, challenged him to call me a faggot again, and that everyone with me was was a 'faggot' who wouldn't stand by while I was attacked. This highlighted observation prompted to bouncer to look around him, and step back within the relative protection of the establishment that he was apparently protecting. I cannot for the life of me think of what I did to prompt this aggression, and homophobia. I have many LGBTQIA+ friends who have recommended this bar to me before, and this was my first time visiting. After tonight's experience, I will be making sure to go out of my way to warn other members of the LGBTQIA+ community that this bar is both unsafe, and unwelcoming. 2/5

The Friday and Saturday night drinks list is bias towards South Australian beers and wines and how could you fault them on that? Meanwhile the only spirit served in the bar is gin. And in my humble opinion I can't see why you would ever drink anything else. The selection of gin and cocktails on the menu have clearly been created by a keen gin lovers hand and I'm looking forward to/hope they will offer *cough cough* gin appreciation classes or opportunity to tell you about gin behind from behind the bar soon! Don't let just the eye catching cabinet of sweets and savouries from Steven Ter Horst, "Abigail" and Willabrand distract you. these guys also have tasting platters they can put together for you and cheap as breakfast treats under $10! First of all, whiskey is native to the bluegrass state (KENTUCKY) and though whiskey is 'the drink' of the moment it's time too shall pass... Since the 1700s New Orleans is and has always been a rum city, but hey, why be bothered with the details or with authenticity, right? I mean who cares that the iconic poboy sandwich is supposed to be served on a French baguette (which could likely be sourced from another local biz just around the corner -Le Carpe Diem, Grenfell Street) when you could use a (possibly cheaper?) inferior Vietnamese roll? Back to the food: we sampled the fried chicken which was a very small serve for the price and it was accompanied by a mayonnaise 'sauce' - why is it needed? Is there bread to make a sandwich?!? Um, no. So, I gave it a go and found the sauce bland, tasteless, and utterly unnecessary. It's mayonnaise! With nothing else. Fried chicken in the States doesn't ever come with a sauce! Ever. Back to the chicken, it had a delightful crunch and was reasonably well seasoned but far too greasy. If served with grease glistening then it should sit on a piece of bread to soak up the oil OR should be blotted with paper. Not good. Next we had the Marlin tartar which was one of the few unique and creative takes on NOLA cuisine; it was presented on a crisp much like a Zapps' Potato Chip (for Western Hemi folks). This is something I can recommend without reservation. Then we sampled the rabbit stew - very, very tasty with just enough seasoning, however too much rice and not enough rabbit. One last thing, it is a total and complete sacrilege to have a Mardi Gras party on the first Friday of Lent. Pure and simple commercialization. If you can't do it on Shrove Tuesday, just give it up!

It's a small difference, but one that is noticeable on the palette and enough to make a huge difference. They've got local and import beers that won't stretch your budget too thin, and a large selection of wines and spirits. Their food is also incredibly great value. The wood oven pizzas are light enough to snack on, yet filling enough to ensure you won't be passing out during the cab ride back home. And only six dollars! That's value you can't beat.

Pastries from scratch in a Thai Resturant! Now, if that doesn't grab your attention, well... you obviously do not love food as much as me. You got to love the enthusiasm in this restaurant. You will be given full table service and the staff are so excited to explain why each dish is special. We had to order the Chicken Wings (Thanks Ngan Q. for the fab mouthwatering photos). And yeah baby, they were so good. Five a serve is clearly not enough, I want twenty! The scallops were really fresh with some beautiful minced lemongrass ontop. Very pretty and tasty looking morsels. Another thank you goes out to Ian L. for the recommendation of the Hide'n'Seek Chicken skewers. They were bang on BBQ Chicken with a soy based dressing. Lovely flavour and will be another crowd pleaser. Order then Finally the Som Tum platter is fresh and great for sharing. The idea is to grab the ingredients and create a wrap with the lettuce provided. There are little sausages, beautiful papaya salad, noodles, cabbage, fresh herbs and some steamed veg. Lovely dish and great for the health conscious. I am sincerely excited to try a breakfast here. The menu looks great!

At first, I thought the name was rather peculiar for a Thai eatery, but not so much for a bar. When it was explained to be by one of the partners, Apple, I can see where they are going with it. The name is derived from its 'hidden' location, thus implying the fun of having to seek it out, once found, punters will find the food both rewarding and unique. The vibrant space is cheerful and contemporary due to the bright décor and ornaments. Multi-coloured commercial pendants hang from the ceilings adding to its vibrancy. The bright orange and very long couch takes pride of place along the wall where most of the downstairs seating takes place. The high ceilings provide a greater sense of space, also giving it a very airy feel. Acoustics is not an issue on this particular evening even with an almost full house, excluding the use of upstairs space. It would be interesting to see how it holds up with a full house. Perusal of the menu saw us appreciating the different items being offered such as Som Tum platters, grilled scallops with lemongrass butter, far removed from the typical offerings that seem to dominate most Thai restaurants and cafes. Recommendation was made and we ended up ordering a feast. Som-Tum was ordered, so was the scallops. We also added chicken satays, chicken wings, Tom Yum Prawns soup, cabbage rolls and fish skewers. It was the perfect assortment to get a real feel for the type of cuisine they were trying to bring to Radelaide. We learnt that the dinner menu was created to reflect the different dishes from the different towns and cities of Thailand they the partners originated from. While the ex Sous chef of Madame Hanoi's creativity allow her to put a contemporary spin on the breakfast and lunch menu. Three unique menus were borne, with a weekly specials board. Every single dish we had was delightfully Moorish, especially the chicken wings. I could easily have devoured a bucket of those. It was a perfect combination of sticky, crunchy and fresh flavours. The grilled scallops with lemongrass butter were also divine. Tom yum soup made sense for cold wintery nights so, was very welcoming indeed. Not a massive fan of the cabbage rolls, as I found it rather beige, however the sauce was awesome though and made up the slack. Chicken satays are served with small triangles of toast and a cucumber relish. We both thought that was interesting, but it appears that is how it is eaten in Thailand. Our evening was most enjoyable. We had great food, great attentive service and very informative staff who were more than happy to enlighten us on how each dish came about. We rolled out of there with a big smile and a very happy tummy.
