I would NOT recommend any musicians or those who value their instruments to deal with this store/shop! I took an expensive Dobro in there the other day to buy new strings and to have them put on. I play my dobro as a slide guitar (with steel bar and picks) and have played it that way for over 20 years! When I went in to pick up the guitar, they had removed the steel nut and tuned the guitar to regular (standard) acoustic tuning. I took the guitar out of the case, asked for a steel bar to try it out--- to see how it sounded and I was shocked to see that they had removed the steel nut and converted it over. Naturally, it was unplayable without the steel nut intact. I told them they had made a mistake with my guitar. I asked where the steel nut was and why had they removed it and why they hadn't tuned it to the tuning asked for . The owner said "there was no steel nut on the guitar when you brought it in"! I told him there was and they must have misunderstand what I asked them to do. He said, "NO, there was NO STEEL NUT ON IT...." He got ignorant and boldly stated that my guitar came to the shop with no steel nut! IN SPITE OF THE FACT that anybody can see the mark on my guitar where the steel nut has sat for years! No matter...he threw half the money I paid him back on the counter and said to go and buy a new steel nut. I asked him for my old one. He said I didn't have one. So I told him I wanted to buy one. He said he didn't have any for sale to go find one elsewhere. REALLY! I also have an antique Gibson steel guitar that I was thinking about having re-strung. I can only imagine how upset I would have been to find a part of my Gibson guitar gone missing such as this piece did...Typically we string our own guitars but this time we were redoing the lot of them and thought it would save some time to have a few done in the shop. What a big mistake that was. My advice is to take your instruments to Long and Mcquade, George Street, where they are knowledgeable and courteous. I almost always do and wish I would have time time around, too. Only reason I didn't go there in the first place was because it's sometimes hard to park, especially on a Friday when you have to lug a guitar in a heavy case for two or three blocks. Bottom line is, Electron Sound and Percussion screwed up big time and were downright ignorant and rude about their error, refusing to admit they made a mistake. No big deal to them---I guess not. A big deal to me, you bet. After all, I should know what style of guitar I play and what adaptions I need to play it the way I do. Electron has a lot of character and amazing service. There is a wide variety of pedals, music books, amplifiers, and the amount of drumming equipment and guitars is a little on the low side it is still a great store whenever I walk in the door there is something I never noticed before like a Rolling Stones poster or that the light up guitar outside is left handed.
