My husband went to do a job for fire safety to keep the employees and clients safe. Which was approved by the building owner. However, the receptionist was very very rude to him and told him no. So he had to leave the establishment to give the owner of the building a phone call again. As someone in a beauty industry, your reception is the face of your business. And to be treated so rudely and disrespectful in that manner is not acceptable. My husband is very respectful and never complains but this establishment really bothered him in the way he was treated. read more

I have had many massages over the years. I have visited multiple massage therapy businesses and spas. Elements is by far my favorite for a long term relationship. The hours and membership structure are similar to Massage Envy, but the vibe, massage therapists, and customer service are far superior at Elements. As others have noted, you aren't trapped for a year. It's a month to month membership for $69. If you get a second massage in a month, it's only $59. They have some add ons, but they aren't pushy about them. They also give you an ice cold bottle of water and a Lindt truffle at the end of your massage - nice touch! I do wish they had a relaxation room instead of just waiting out in the main lobby, but it's not essential. I've been very happy at Elements, and have forced myself to make time to get the massages that I desperately need for pain relief and overall well-being. I came to this location due to the massage therapist I use only working at this location. When I walked inside, I was greeted by a very nice and attentive female at the front desk. I advised her that I was there for my appointment and she had me fill out a few pieces of paper which was pretty straight forward. While filling the paperwork out, I was in the main lobby area as they do not have a relaxation room. After filling out the paperwork, I was greeted by my massage therapist, Monique. She brought me into the room and went over which body parts hurt and asked if I wanted her to focus on any specific areas. Just like previous sessions, Monique did a phenomenal job. Her pressure was perfect and she uses techniques that previous massage therapists never used. Although I advised her of some areas that I felt were tight, she found other problem areas without it being mentioned. Another plus is the membership that many other people who left a review mentioned. It is month to month and no contract. You can cancel at anytime without a penalty. Overall, Monique is easily one of the best massage therapists there is. She truly makes driving 40 minutes to the spa worth it. I highly recommend her. read more

Price is good for 60min. My male therapist must have been new. I didn't need to address the pressure however the inconsistency and lack of fluidity left me feeling lopsided and stressed. The beginning effleurage strokes stopped well before back ended. Did not address all muscles in a group or completely skipped a side. As a client I'm confident we addressed areas I wanted to focus on, and felt ignored. I agree that I must speak up and address an issue but I shouldn't have to keep reminding a provider they need to do the left side as well. Or that they skipped my low back entirely. Beth is amazing and has a way of finding those tight nerves and helping work them away, I always feel so relaxed. Best massage I've ever had by Beth today. Only time I've ever left a massage feeling completely relaxed and all my stress points addressed. Most stress points I didn't even know I had but Beth has an innate talent that finds areas and works on them effectively but without excessive, uncomfortable pressure. She listens and is attentive. Will most definitely go back to Beth and do my best to get there monthly after I close on our new home which is adding a great deal of stress! I've received nothing but great massages at this location. My favorite masseuse is Jen. She has a firm, athletic and comforting style that is just right for me. She always provides a debrief to tell me how to loosen up and be well in between our visits (I really like the stretches she recommends and try them out every now and then). The service is nice too with an email and calendar reminder when you book an appointment. Downside, this is just a massage location and doesn't provide a full spa experience with robes, free essence, etc. I was spoiled with a spa experience at my last location for the same membership price. read more

I've been a member of the Massage Envy chains and was unhappy with the services there. I was wary about starting another membership, but I went in for my first visit to Elements Massage and I had to give them a chance. Chris at the front was super friendly and helpful. There was no pressure to sign up at all. I was completely satisfied with my deep tissue massage, the therapist seemed to genuinely want to help me out. I ended up signing up for a membership after that first visit, but unlike Massage Envy, you are not trapped into a contract. The membership is sort of a reminder to myself to take that self care day, at least once a month. Your credit card is automatically charged every month, but you can cancel any time. They have recently started sending out emails with the therapists' availabilities which made it easy for me to plan my next massage. I took off a star because $69 a month is slightly pricier than I had hoped considering the commitment. read more

I recently made an appointment at the Meriden Elements Massage. When I arrived for my appointment, I ran into a snag concerning expired credits from another Elements Massage in Arizona. I was extremely frustrated and upset that I would not be able to get my massage, but Julie went above and beyond to rectify this unfortunate situation. She called the Arizona Elements and got my credits reinstated so I could keep my appointment. In addition, her partner, Megan was also extremely calming and helpful. Elements Massage is a great alternative to Massage Envy and other Massage Membership clubs for the frequent massage getter. The therapists are very experienced. I tried several of them and all have been good but Vanessa is my favorite. Apparently, the therapists take good notes too because they know your preferences and exactly what kind of work you received in your previous sessions. The scheduling process is easy. They also send appointment reminders which is very helpful. You usually can get in for a massage on fairly short notice which is great for those last minute changes to your schedule. I always feel like I'm getting my money's worth. You can elect to pursue a membership at a discounted rate or just pay as you go. There are no pressure tactics to get you to sign up. The owner is super nice. Since I travel a lot, I wish it was easier to use my outstanding massages at other facilities, but since each Elements is independently owned the rules vary slightly. If you know that you'll be out of town for a while, the work around is to have your outstanding massage put on a gift card. Definitely check them out! read more

What I like about this facility in general is that they have plenty of masseuses, are open everyday of the week, and have evening hours. Megan was my masseuse, did a full body massage with medium pressure. I thought she did a nice job and managed the time well so that she could really hit everything. After the massage she brought over a chart with stretches on it and went over the ones she recommend I do based on my areas of tightness. I thought that was pretty awesome, that's never happened at any of the other places I received massages at. When I left you were able to leave the tip as cash or credit which I thought was really convenient. I chose to do it in cash, and they provided little envelopes to leave it in, which took away the awkwardness of handing the masseuse cash directly. The woman behind the counter gave me a brochure in case i wanted to book another in the future, and there was no pressure to schedule my next appointment right then and there. My only qualm would be the pricing. Their regular price is a bit exorbitant, and if you sign up for the monthly program it's about the price of a single massage elsewhere. If they were able to adjust their prices a bit lower I would actually consider doing a monthly program with them. read more

I hate to leave a negative review for any business, but this place warrants it. I was so excited to use a gift card I had on Mother's day, but was extremely disappointed. I didn't receive a massage, but rather a rub down. Being a mom to a toddler, and a waitress, my body was desperately in need of a good massage. When I contacted Elements through email regarding my disappointment, I was offered another massage at the new client rate. Now according to their website, they offer satisfaction guarantee with another session free. When I responded to the email with a screenshot of said guarantee, I never heard anything from them again. Sought pain relief, instead was insulted at the deepest level. Badly tweaked my neck so scheduled an appointment the next day. Met Megan at the waiting room and went to her suite where she interviewed me about my massage. I responded with specific statements about the area of acute pain in my neck and tension in my shoulder. Megan looked at the clock and said, "we've lost a little time," and we agreed to focus on the areas discussed rather than whole body. At that point, Megan said she would leave the room and I could prepare myself, lay face down, etc. Aware that my 60 minute massage was dwindling to 45 minutes, I said that she didn't need to leave the room because everything she asked me to do would take three seconds. She said that her leaving the room was procedure. I accepted that. As she was leaving the room, I asked if it was necessary to get under the blanket. I was removing only my shirt and I thought getting under a blanket in the middle of a sunny summer day was odd. She said that that was procedure and I questioned it no more. I did everything that was asked, but when Megan returned, she said she "didn't feel comfortable," and was "afraid for her safety, and could not continue with the massage." I was shocked and embarrassed to my core; it defied belief. I was so stunned I said nothing, let the words sink in for a fraction of a second, calmly picked up my wallet, phone, and keys, and went to the front where I was told that I would have to leave. Apparently omitting contact information on the introductory form is a "red flag." Is there anyone tired of providing personal information that corporations sell to each other as a commodity? Anyone a fan of junkmail? If there was a concern over my identity, I would have gladly shared my driver's license; however, I was not asked, nor was the way I filled out the form questioned. The central problem seemed to be that my willingness (NOT insistence) to remove my shirt in front of the person who, moments later, would be applying the massage, is a serious red flag. Though I had made it clear I would remove only my shirt, questioning the need to get under a blanket during a warm summer day also seemed to be a serious red flag. To be absolutely clear, there is nothing I am leaving out of the narrative. There was no flirtation, no chauvinism, no double entendre, no leering eye contact, no provocative body language or gestures, no coercion, no exhibitionism, and no personal conversation of any sort. On the two occasions I questioned what was said, I received an answer, respected the answer, and complied with the procedure without argument. If there is a strict cultural expectation or rigid set of procedures about shirts and blankets on summer days, I was not informed of them beforehand. I have had perhaps four massages in the last decade and all have occurred without incident. Megan knew from the initial survey that massages are not a regular occurrence for me. You, dear reader, do not know me. You do not know that I am not a complainer. You don't know that I have family, friends, make people laugh, served this country in combat, have advanced degrees, give time and money to charity, and have been successfully interacting with people around the world for decades. But I warn, you maybe arbitrarily refused service on account of, as the manager said, "maybe bad energy." If you are placed into the creeper category for the wrong haircut, height, weight, ethnicity, fashion, direction the wind is blowing, or whatever other arbitrary action or celestial misalignment constitutes "bad energy," you too may be painted as some sort of dangerous pervert. I respect management that supports its' staff, but the management on duty seemed content to label me a pervert and send me on my way. There was no curiosity about what actually happened, no apology, no promise to look into the matter, no mention of refund or complimentary gift certificate. I was offered only a no contest dismissal from the premises. This is a failure of professionalism on both the individual and leadership levels. I walked in with a stiff neck; I walked out humiliated. Post script: I considered this review carefully and have given time to settle my perspective before posting. I have had several massages since this incident and have been invited back each time. I discussed this incident with a massage therapist and the feedback I got was that nothing I did was creepy, and described my explanation that I would be removing only my shirt as, "setting boundaries." When I called to make my appointment the girl who answered was very pleasant and told me about their program where you get a massage every month at a discounted price. A regular 1 hour massage is $99. The discount is $69. So they charge your credit card once a month and it all rolls over if you don't have the time to go in a particular month. Is this a deal? $69 seems a standard price for a massage. There is an intro rate of $49 for your first massage to get you in the door. That's what I got. When I went I found the place to be clean and well appointed, in a nice location. I was offered a drink and reminded of the discount program. The girl was very nice. I got a massage with Mark. He was a very good masseuse and listened to what I needed. The one thing that I found odd is that he used lotion on me instead of oil. When I was done with the massage and got dressed, the masseuse came back in to 'discuss future treatment. ' Which was basically telling me to come back once a month. When I went to pay I was met by high pressure sales tactics to join to join their aforementioned 'wellness program. ' I sensed the girl (a different one from the one who greeted me) was getting irritated that I was not going for it. I was considering joining, but being new to town, wanted to check out other places. I was so put off by the sales tactics I will not be returning, although it's in a perfect location for me. 5 minutes from home. Myron is great! I have been there 3 times with no complaints! First time was a groupon gift, then I bought a buy one get in half off special and then I signed up for the membership. I have to say I would have never tried it had it not been for the discounted prices. They also send you emails where you can get additional discounts every so often. The monthly membership can be cancelled at any time and massages do no expire, you can add additional people to you membership to use the massage too. UPDATE TO ORIGINAL and response to the ridiculous and absolutely twisted truth submitted by their representative: Actually we were horrified at the service in November. But first let me state to those reading I absolutely did tell the woman who answers the phone I had pneumonia, walking pneumonia to be exact. It is despicable that you would lie to try to cover up the fact you were willing to expose your employees and others to a highly contagious infection. And I will be calling the Better Business Bureau among others. That was the whole reason I called this morning was to advise how sick I was. I specifically said I was diagnosed with pneumonia earlier in the week and hoped to be better and that I couldn't guarantee I was not contagious. I then proceeded to explain I didn't want to get anyone else sick. I was told that didn't matter and it was up to me whether to come but that I would be charged forcing me to not reschedule. You could hear in the hoarseness of my voice how sick I am. Back to November, the massage felt as though a child was rubbing my back and we were back in our clothes and paying in exactly 53 minutes. It could be the two people we had were just off that day or were tired. Who knows but it sucked. Which is why we didn't return. I would NEVER pay full price for a massage at Elements. At least not Meriden I can't speak for the other locations. Nor would I buy a groupon for this establishment when I have a membership at another location that entitles me to monthly massages, don't even live near your location and there are tons of offers in groups offering the same service much closer to me. This place is so accommodating, and is a lot less expensive then your normal spa, but just because it is less expensive doesn't mean you are losing out on any of the experience. I see the same massage therapist every month Meghan and she is just amazing. I am not a fan of SUPER deep tissue, and rather enjoy a massage for more of the relaxation, but I have been having neck issues on and off for the last few months, and when the pain is on, Meghan really goes at it, and the next day I wake up and feel great. I am not familiar with and of the other therapist, I just know that if you are not satisfied with the therapist that you see the owner will accommodate you by trying to match you with the right one. Try out a few different ones to find the right fit for you, every therapist has a different style. read more

My first experience here was a year ago when they had a promotion going on for their grand opening. I saw Kevin and I was hooked. My insurance does not cover chiropractic issues so I thought seeing a massage therapist would be helpful. And it truly has been life changing! I even convinced my boyfriend to sign up for a membership as well so we could have couple massages on a monthly basis. Over the past year I have seen many therapists who all have unique qualities and I have never left disappointed. Many people see massages as a luxury but the membership is so worth it. I was really exited to go back here after my first visit 5 years ago when I had a prenatal massage. This time was a birthday gift and my aunt was visiting from out of town. I booked 2 massages. A hot stone for her and a regular for me. When we arrived the blonde headed girl at the counter at 8:45am on a Saturday was not very welcoming. She expressed to a coworker that "they need to put More people at the desk Saturday mornings it's too busy" I was to ask her The details about the membership while my aunt filled out paperwork but she clearly did not want to be bothered. Once we were called in by a female and a male I told the same girl the front desk that my aunt actually prefers a female and I started to say we can just switch if that's the easiest way. She rolled her eyes, was clearly frustrated by this and so was the female therapist. Jordan however who ended up being my therapist was kind efficient aNd professional. Our massages were supposed to be 90 minutes and they were both only 65 minutes. When she charge my aunt an extra $25 for the hot stone massage I said even if our massages were not 90 minutes? and she claimed they were. I can tell time and I know they were not! They should've asked when I booked the massage if we are OK with a male therapist as most places have mostly female and I know I was asked out last time I was there. They made us feel like we were doing something wrong we were paying for a service and we should've had a great one. I just feel that for the awful experience and the shorted Massages, she should've at least waived the $25 hot stone fee. I don't appreciate paying $129 for a 90 minute massage and really only getting an 80 minute massage. I understand that it may take a few minutes to speak with your therapist and undress but that's a given. I've never had my massage time reduced anywhere else. When they confirm the appointment, they ask that you arrive at least 5 mins early to consult with your therapist. I arrived 15 minutes early. Talked to the therapist for a minute and a half and undressed in under a minute. If they are advertising a 90 minute massage then that's what they should deliver unless you're late, in that case absolutely deduct the time. The massage was ok the 2nd time, but not better than other places I've been to yet they are quite pricey. It is my experience that neither of the 3 MT's I saw seemed to really listen to my needs. I asked for swedish massage each time but instead received deep tissue and I was in pain for 3 days afterward. I gave the place several chances because its close to home. It's not remarkably elegant, does not have dressing rooms, sauna or showers. Nothing fancy. They should really consider lowering the price. For these reasons I do not recommend this location and I will not be returning. read more

I've been going there for over a year now. i go once a month. the staff is friendly and respectfully and the atmosphere is great.

I'm sure this is a good concept massage place. However, I purchased a Groupon and was so looking forward to getting a much needed massage. I called to make an appointment for Saturday, which by the way, I was pleasantly surprised by their hours of operation being open on a Saturday and Sunday. After making the appointment, I was asked for my credit/debit card number, when I asked why, I was told "for any no call-no show fees would be charged to your account" uhh I replied that I purchased a Groupon, I needed a massage so I would definitely show up and that I also do not give information over the phone. I was then told that my appointment could not be booked.. Really??!!! As a working woman who works sometimes 50 hours a week, I found this to be quite insulting. Not sure what their clientele is that doesn't show up for an appointment, but I decided quickly that I would happily lose what I paid toward my Groupon and I ended up going to the Waverly in Cheshire on that Saturday and received the respect one deserves when they pay for a service, and I got a GREAT massage at the Waverly..
