Have your tonsils tickled by the black pepper and enjoy the silken smooth texture of the Potato and carrot. Best enjoyed from a paper bag whilst relaxing on a beach after a swim or surf, casually looking out over the Atlantic ocean, waves crashing. For the ultimate experience you should get up early and hit the Pasty shop as the golden bastards are transferred fresh from the oven to the counter. But equally looking in your bag for a pasty at the end of hard day hiking the coastal paths, which has had time to vintage much like a bottle of fine wine, find a rock and recharge on this special eat. There's quite a history behind the humble pasty and I'd like to share with you a story that's stuck with me since I was a child. The pasty came about as with all wonderful inventions due to necessity, the Cornish tin industry would see men and boys sent underground to work tirelessly, and the family's of the miners came up with the Cornish Pasty. You see as with most mining the fella's under the earth would be covered in dirt, the metal deposit and general grime from a career, deep, deep down in the ground. That crunchy plait we know and love today, on the side of the pasty, never used to be the Shangri la of pastry (as you call it) with its delicious golden exterior and doughy pale core. It was functional, so the miners could hold the hallowed pasty without covering the main event in soot and crud. It was then discarded, so legend tells to the Knockers, whom Cornish folklore describe as little creatures who lived in the tin mines and seemingly enjoyed eating pastry covered in crap. If the Knockers weren't given their sacrificial pastry crusts, strange noises would be heard in the mines, sometimes a knocking noise, and if ignored, the miners believed they were in danger of shaft collapse (a fear men carry to this very day). The fair partners of these stoic Cornish miners would also pack into one end of their pasty's a sweet treat, stewed apples or a blob of jam. Desert if you will, wrapped up in the generous fold of pastry, brushed with butter and baked for their loved ones. And here we find Cousin jacks, Bondi Junction paved Mall. You caught my eye as I passed you, I am a sceptic, (see opening lines) however Cousin Jacks I was not disappointed in your traditional Cornish pasty (although I would like to sweep your counters clear of all the other pretender pasties you offer, and I'll only look sideways at your vegetarian offering with a stress induced tick in the corner of my eye, what would the Knockers say!) you've achieved something where many have previously tried and failed. You've made the best traditional Cornish Pasty, I've tasted outside the secret corners of old granite villages in deepest Cornwall, no mean feat. It even has that sweet desert at the end. Grab a couple on your way to the beach, Cousin Jacks traditional Cornish pasties, I highly recommend.

Think baking and egg cooked into a roll. The key business is pastries, cakes and desserts - and a focus on the latter - and they do them well - to the point of me actually ordering their small tiramisu's for everyone at a large birthday party. Close to the light rail extension so easy to get to if within the inner west, but car and bus for everyone else. I can't imagine going back for breakfast, but will be for good desserts, handmade on site.

Impossible to miss when driving down the King Georges road with its bright pink sign :)!! Its on the left hand sign on the way to Hurstville and about 50 metres before the entry to the M5 :) I got to an old school gym in beverly hills and one of the hot topic talks is LA donuts, what's your favorite, when's the next visit lol!! When I'm chatting to someone about donuts at LA its always the same response, fluffy and light, not overly sweet, soft, they make the donuts fresh daily. LA DONUTS eat Fresh :D... not like subway lmao !! I'm a bit of a Homer when it comes to food so a favorite is the homer donut also the Apple fritter and the Long Johns & the eclair donut .. tbe sweet tooth shakes haha!! The owner and anyone of the people at the shop have been always super friendly and easy to have a laugh with .. not sure if they laughing about my enjoyement scoffing the donuts down or the amount of times i see they see me come past :D Have to say being a foodie i love my Melbourne visits for anything food but LA Donuts have definately been another addition to putting Sydney on the map contending for the best food in the capital of Aussie mate :)!!

During the night they presented speeches telling us where the wheat comes from and why it tastes so good and why this bread is better for you than most! It comes from a single source grain that can be traced back to the farmer and the region where it was grown. Overall the night was amazing! The food was plentiful and flavorsome, the staff were kind and friendly, the bread truly was the hero of each dish. Brasserie Bread's superpower is owed to its single origin. The sourdough bread only requires three ingredients - Flour, water and salt. But any of these ingredients isn't good enough for the bread specialist. It needs to be the absolute best and they want to know exactly where it's grown to the very field. The source of this flour comes from Southern Flinders Ranges in South Australia. The bread was served up as sliders with Lamb and two kinds of different coleslaw. Both were equally delicious but credit to Brasserie Bread for making sure the Bread was the Batman of the mix, sorry Lamb your the Robin. The bread was like eating a cloud, so soft and sweet like a brioche bun. The bread was also served in cheese which was equally as scrumptious. The idea of serving cheese with honey never occurred to me. Killer combination that worked so well together. Brasserie Bread created a special pizza using only their single origin dough again. This was amazing and something I would definitely order as takeout if they considered it as an option as currently they don't do it. They kept the pizza basic with potato option as well as a cheesy one. Brasserie Bread also offer a wide range of drinks and cordials which were something different and special that would be nice for a picnic. The building is quite impressive and you can watch what happens from the very begging of the bread making process as its right here they make the bread and supply it to many cafes around NSW. It's a warehouse feel to the place but very beautiful and open. Brasserie Bread does indeed have the super power of making some of the damn beat bread I have ever tasted period.

But when you take the couple of stairs up to the shop counter you are taken in to cake heaven. Mini cakes, birthday cakes, big cakes, cream cakes. There's also mousse, hand made chocolates, pastries, pies, paninis, tarts, cream brulee, meringue, macaroons, slices and biscutes. If it's sweet they probably have it. It's not Patisse (as seen on Master Chef) but it is a tad cheaper and some of the creations are impressive enough to buy for a special occasion. The Cognac Truffle ($26.50 for a small), Cherry Tart ($17.90 for a small) and Daquois ($28.50 for a small) look delectable. But the top of the top is the Bavarois with its chocolate sponge with rum syrup, layers of buttercream and meringue pieces and dark chocolate curl finish ($28.50 for a small). Death by chocolate... possibly. I'm not 100% sure about the green frog, black mice or the odd looking yellow duck cakes... for the kids I assume given you can handle the mega sugar high they're likely to have afterwards! They do cater for events and will deliver any order over $40 for free.
