Dismayed & Disappointed by the Tucker Inn…read more We wish we could report that, after many summer stays in Provincetown at a variety of Bed and Breakfast inns, that our experience at this first stay at the Tucker Inn was a pleasure. Based on its reviews and marketing, we hoped that we could add another glowing review once we returned home. What follows is not what we hoped to report. Unfortunately, we were not prepared to - at an average of $415 per night (fee and taxes included) - (a) to feel from the outset that we were intruders and not guests, (b) to stay in a room that did not feel clean, and (c) to eat off of dirty dishes and utensils. Level of Hospitality - Low and sometimes, off-putting: The initial greeting from main innkeeper upon our arrival at check in was ambivalent, at best. Actually, she made us feel as though our arrival was disturbing her from whatever she was doing - and we never were presented with any greeting or sense of "welcome to the Tucker Inn" when we arrived. Most times over the five nights stay, we did not feel particularly welcome guests of the inn. The general attitude of the innkeeper made us feel uncomfortable and intrusive in the space. * Example 1: There is a selection of breakfast foods buffet style but on two occasions we asked for "eggs any style". At least one of these times, the host asked why we don't just eat the eggs with scallions that were put out daily. She seemed bothered by having to fulfill a request to make eggs that did not include scallions. * Example 2: Apparently each Saturday there is a social hour at 5 PM. But nowhere is there any sign to indicate this, so that guests can arrange to attend. And we only found out around 10 AM the day of when the host tossed out, "You know there's a social tonight." Well, we did not know and then had to pry the other details to be in the know. * Example 3: One morning at breakfast, a new face was among the guests. But it was not until several minutes of conversation and us asking, 'where are you from', that the gentlemen finally owned up to being an owner. It felt like we were part of an episode of "Undercover Boss" and, frankly, we have never had an inn owner not introduce himself from the moment of meeting. It felt disingenuous for the proprietor of a hospitality establishment. * Example 4: Every other inn we have stayed at keeps, at a minimum, fresh water available in the common area and most replace water in the room daily. This was not the case with the Tucker Inn. And even if we asked for replacements, we have already shared that any reasonable request felt like an intrusion of the host. * Example 5: The inn was mainly accommodating males during our stay and it was during the first four of five days we experienced this feeling of inconveniencing the host. Curiously on Day five, a group of mainly women arrived and we witnessed an openness and spirit from the host towards them that we, as paying guests, would have appreciated receiving. This gives us even more uncomfortable pause if we read into these dynamics.* *It bears distinguishing that the other two servers at the inn were more engaging and did not seem to mind the few basic requests we had. Cleanliness: It became apparent from the first meal and for each one after that any time we needed a bowl, plate, piece of silverware, mug, or drinking glass, we should expect to search through at least three or four before we might find one that did not have residual food or sediment caked on it. Is offering clean dishware that challenging? Also, the areas where food was presented could have appeared much cleaner. The room smelled somewhat musty when we entered. I cannot say if we got accustomed to it or if it subsided; but musty was the first impression, certainly. And the towels had a number of stains on them, as well. Photographs versus reality: We offer kudos to the Inn for having a good photographer with the ability to use wide angles and bright lights to mask the reality of spaces and lighting. This is one area where we can agree this is a fairly common practice in the industry. But, as is often common in the industry, the room was nowhere as specious or accommodating as the photos could lead one to believe. In summary - while previous reviews may have enjoyed their stay at the Tucker Inn - and these are the reviews we relied heavily upon when selecting the inn - ,for the avoidance of doubt , we were quite disappointed and believe we should share our experiences with our friends and family and social media outlets. It is with great regret that we cannot recommend this inn to anyone visiting Provincetown.

The location was perfection, basically in the center of town, but offset from the main street enough that nearly no noise reaches the Inn. We stayed in the Crow's Nest, which is a relatively small room but it was impeccably clean and very comfortable. The highlight of the room itself was the shower, surprisingly luxurious feeling. There were plenty of other amenities available. We took advantage of the breakfasts and parking spots, but I know they also had bikes available, as well as a little patio/garden that seems like it would be lovely in warmer weather. To top it off, Chip's pastries are *absolutely divine*, we were sneaking more of them all day long. There were also plenty of dogs around all weekend long. I would not recommend this spot, or the town in general, to someone not comfortable with dogs, but I had a ball :)

We were shocked at how quiet the house is while literally only one block from Commercial Street. It's very convenient to all of the shops, restaurants, and nightlife. The faucets, shower, and amenities are top-notch and have a luxury feel to them. The breakfast was tasty and saved us a bundle (P-Town is not known for inexpensive dining). The hosts were helpful with offering suggestions and recommendations. We also enjoyed meeting the other guests from around the world. What's not to love about this place? We can't wait to come back and we will DEFINITELY stay here!

I stayed here during Carnival week and was met at check-in by Mauricio -- hands down the coldest, most hostile host I have ever encountered. I made one harmless joke, and instead of a laugh or even a smile, I was accused of breaking house rules I hadn't broken. Then came the emails. Then came the texts. All through the Airbnb app, all with the same message: if you don't like the rules, leave. Let that sink in. Within minutes of arriving on my vacation, I was being told to get out. The room itself is dark, dingy, and outdated -- but that's honestly the least of this property's problems. The real issue is the atmosphere Mauricio and Peter have built: control, not hospitality. There are handwritten warning notes plastered everywhere. In the bathroom alone: one taped inside the shower, one on the shower door, one about the shower mat, and one scolding you not to slam the door. That's four notes in one bathroom. Walk through the rest of the place and you'll find more. At the front door, a sign informs you that you are only welcome if you are a "registered guest" -- as if you're checking into a facility, not a bed and breakfast. Add in the cameras watching your every move, and the whole place feels like a prison, not a getaway. There is zero warmth here. Zero sense of humor. Zero hospitality. Just rigid rules and hostility, all enforced through the Airbnb app. I followed every single rule during my stay. Didn't matter, they left me an unjust, retaliatory review anyway, but I refuse to let other travelers walk into this blind. This property sits at #17 out of 19 Provincetown Bed & Breakfasts. The bed and breakfast is absolutely adorable, impeccably clean, and smells amazing. Our room had thoughtful touches like a mini fridge with a small freezer, microwave, real dishes and mugs, and even actual wine glasses. Breakfast each morning included a different fresh, warm baked treat, and parking (for smaller vehicles) was included, which is a huge bonus in Provincetown. The cozy patio with a fire pit was the perfect place to relax, and the location is just a block from Commercial Street so couldn't be better. I almost didn't want to write this review because I'd love to keep this little gem a secret. But judging by the long list of consistent 5-star reviews, it's obvious I'm not the only one lucky enough to stumble upon this Ptown unicorn and realize just how exceptional it is. Wonderful B&B - Can't Wait to Go Back!…read more There are SO many reasons why this charming inn has risen to the very top of my favorite Provincetown Inn's. I truly think that the top distinguishing factor is that the Swiss owners, Dan and Daniel - are extremely hands on and have supervised every last detail to make this Inn sheer perfection. First of all - by square footage - their rooms are highly comparable to most inn's in the area - and even a bit bigger than many for the price. Size doesn't tell the whole story - of course. Their rooms are immaculately clean - so lovely and smartly designed - with ample storage space throughout. The color scheme is warm and modern. Their linens are lux Turkish cotton. Each room has smart controls for temperature - and come with a ceiling fan for extra versatility. The fixtures and hardware in the rooms - and throughout the Inn - feel substantial and elegant. The artwork and little touches throughout the Inn are charming, elegant and invocative of the Cape. Breakfasts are served in their terrific dining room. Guests can take their breakfast back to their room or eat in the dining room or outside on the lush patio with other guests. Their outdoor patio is a lovely setting, with substantial, inviting seating, delightful bistro lighting. Beach towels are provided, and sun screens are gratis and readily available for selection / guest use. So many thoughtful touches. Ample European style breakfasts consisted of three types of cereals, two homemade breads, three homemade fruit spreads, fresh fruits (strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, bananas, apples, etc.), nuts, prunes, yogurts, fresh milk and cream, juices, eggs, fresh cooked pastries, cheeses and meats, wonderful teas and amazing Jura coffee (one of the best machines in the world ... from Switzerland). I felt so energized after each breakfast - and Provincetown takes energy ... walking, exploring, shopping. This Inn was so conveniently located as well - steps away from Commercial Street ... and steps away from Bradford. If I needed any items ... I could easily walk to Far Lands or the little convenience shop off of Commercial. On-site parking was so easy - and Dan and Daniel were always around to coordinate arrivals and departures. And unlike some Inn's - the hosts didn't disappear during the day time. They were on-site, hands-on, and exceptionally warm and welcoming. I unequivocally recommend this Inn and give it my highest rating. I also can't wait to book my return trip.
