I scheduled a 90-minute first time session with Aidan, and we talked through why I was there and his process. Since I'd never done this before I was feeling a little nervous, but he was so kind and understanding and made me feel so comfortable. I started by lying on my back and he explained everything he was doing as he did it. It wasn't painful at all! You could feel the smallest prick when the needles went in, but they were so thin and small that it was very light. He then left the room and let me lay on the table and just enjoy the acupuncture. This was literally the most relaxed I've ever felt in my whole life. I can't stop thinking about it! When he first said he was going to let me lay for about 20 minutes I was so worried that my mind would start racing and I would hyper focus on any pain points throughout my body. The exact opposite happened and I was insanely relaxed. I wouldn't say I was skeptical going into the session, but I definitely didn't expect to feel this at peace. My mind was clear for the first time in my life and I felt so good! After 20 minutes Aidan came back and I laid on my stomach and we focused on the part of my back that's been causing me pain. He's also a licensed massage therapist so he did some massage techniques hand in hand with his acupuncture, put some heat on the area of pain and let me sit for another 20 minutes. After that I was done! When he removed the needles, I got up and was able to raise my arms without pain for the first time in WEEKS. Last night I slept through the entire night without any pain, and woke up without pain. For the past few weeks I've been waking up every single morning with throbbing pain in my back, and last night I slept so hard that I almost didn't wake up to my alarm. I am 58 years old and female. I have had scoliosis since I was 12. Back then, I was treated with…read morethe old-style low-profile Milwaukee brace for two years. I then lived my life for 45 years, with curves stable at 41 degrees each, no brace, no daily pain. No one told me that when I hit menopause, my scoliosis would start to get worse. I could see my body changing, could feel the lumbar spine compressing and bowing out, and could see that my upper left back now had a hump. I was lucky enough to find the Scoliosis Center of Utah in Midvale. Dr. Dean explained exactly why my body started changing after years of holding its shape. We took many images. I started treatment with the scoliosis wedge, which was intense but miraculous. With a distressing outlook of my curves increasing by about 6 percent every year, and knowing this would mean I would be quite deformed in under 5 years, I opted for a modern scoliosis brace. It was the perfect solution for me. I am now straighter. I have lost my left-side hump, and my posture out of the brace is perfect. My scoliosis, to my great surprise, is barely noticeable by other people. Remember that I had a hump on my upper back. I have been wearing the brace for less than a month, and I already have these major benefits. The brace is doing miraculous things for me. Dr. Dean and Megan are both friendly, caring people. I read a review that says otherwise, and I honestly don't know what went wrong there. I had exceptionally good experiences with this practice. I am thrilled with my outcomes so far. My experiences were pretty much the opposite of what was written in that other review. I was a registered dietitian nutritionist before I retired. I feel I am a good judge of practitioner performance. I am a full-time nomadic RV traveler, and I chose this office because I can pass by during my travels and do follow-ups as needed for the rest of my life. I can say with confidence that I really loved finding this practice after my curves started growing again. I still don't know why, during the 45 years of my adult life, no one told me this was going to happen to me after menopause.
