It's hard to describe - when you walk around, it's like you're inside a movie, it almost doesn't seem like it could be real. But there you are - standing in front of a building shaped like a bright multicolored snake, with porthole windows and hidden doors to enter the different sections of the complex. You turn a corner and there's the snake's head! You turn another and you're looking at the building's incredible grounds and gardens (complete with walking paths for residents). My husband and I took a tour to several Senosiain sites when were in Mexico City a few weeks ago (you can only visit Nido de Quetzalcoatl with a tour group unless you rent out of the unit as an airbnb). All of the stops on the tour were incredible, but Nido de Quetzalcoatl really blew my mind. It's wild and interesting and playful and whimsical and strange. My jaw kept dropping. When you visit the site, you can wander the grounds (and there's plenty to see on the grounds), explore the exterior of the building (and take about 1,000 pictures of it if you're anything like me), and go inside a unit of the complex which has been reserved for use as a small museum. The small museum houses models of Senosiain's realized and unrealized designs and gives you an idea of what the apartments of Nido de Quetzalcoatl look like inside! As one of the strangest, most interesting places I've ever seen, I highly recommend it for anyone who is interested in design, architecture, environmental design, or landscape design - or for anyone who just wants to be inspired by something different from anything they've ever seen!
