Good Korean food! The place is simple nothing to special about it, its just like any other Korean restaurant selling the same type of food items. The service here was good. I'm not sure if what Johnelle P. said is true but I guess its a good thing I got the old guy serving behind the counter. He was quick coming out from the back of the restaurant and stood by waiting for my order. I ordered their regular combo plate fish jun and spicy chicken for about $10. The fish was OK nothing to exciting about it but for the spicy chicken, I thought it tasted great it wasn't to spicy it just had a little kick and it had a tasty BBQ taste. Hands down our favorite Korean restaurant. My go-to is the meat jun and hubby usually gets the bbq chicken. I love their vegetables-choy sum, bean sprouts, fried tofu, kim chee pancake, spicy cucumber....Occasionally I'd get a vegetable plate, a bi bim bap or even a side order of fried man doo...they're all so tasty. Even though we no longer live in Ewa Beach, we still make our way to our favorite Korean spot. It's not just the food but the family that owns and runs the place is always so kind, generous and hardworking. Btw, if you want to try this place out, bring cash! read more

I'd give 5 stars for kim-bap. But they don't have it during Covid. I got a veggie plate and the young woman told me they have kimchee pancake. I thought it was a wonderful suggestion. I ordered couple of plates for lunch. The rice must have been cooked with way too much water. It was so watery and the consistency was that of jook. I called and explained. The owner told me that that can happen. I asked if they had a new batch of rice. She said no. I couldn't believe how much resistance she put up to not replace the rice. I usually like eating at this place but recently I went to visit and had an upset stomach after eating from here. I had them the night before and the next morning so it had to have been food from here. I have seen that their side dishes are left out and sometimes no one is at the front to make sure no bugs are flying and landing on them... Expensive. And definitely expensive for Ewa Beach. Elim's isn't located in the "nice" part of EB where all the progress is happening, with the new "luxury" homes and Safeway. It's in, like, *Ewa Beach*, as in by Campbell HS, the state's busiest McDonalds, and the dimmest lit Longs on the island, so considering the location, it's pretty expensive. Two mini's (a BBQ chicken mini and a kalbi mini) and two regulars (Meat Jun Mandoo combo, and Kalbi Mandoo combo) came to $46. Yes. F.O.R.T.Y S.I.X. dollars. In E.W.A. B.E.A.C.H. For K.O.R.E.A.N. fast food, not cuisine. Fast food. BUT, with that said, their food is pretty damn good. The kalbi actually has meat on it, and the flavor is just deep with grilled BBQ essence. The Mandoo was yums. My hubby's meat jun was very close to Soon's in Salt Lake---not the same. Soon's is special. But verrrryyyy close. So definitely good. The veggies were ono too, though next time I'll probably pass on the bean sprouts. They were kinda watery and soggy. But the shoyu potatoes, chop chae, and tofu were delicious. Plenty rice, cooked just right. So in the end, I guess it was worth it...kind of, but just know that it's kinda pricey for food that comes in styrofoam. I don't know what the prices are at Pearl's, but Elim is super mom and pop, not a franchise, and you do get a lot of food. I called here at 8:59pm hoping they would be open till ten after I finished my volleyball game in Ewa. They answered the phone and I asked what time they closed. They said 9pm so I thought I would have to find somewhere else to eat but surprisingly they said they'll cook whatever I wanted so I ordered a Kalbi plate and they said it'll be ready in 15 minutes so I drove down the road to get my late dinner. When I arrived, there were a couple of late customers still ordering or picking up food. I guess I wasn't the only one looking for a good late night dinner. I paid for meal including a a nice tip for making my dinner when they were about to close. I chose my normal favorites for sides, Kimchee, cabbage, choi sum, and bean sprouts. The cashier also gave me a few pieces of the Korean pancake so I could try it. My food came out and it was huge. Lots of rice, Kalbi, and vegetables just as I imagined my meal should be. I was so hungry by the time I got home I ate the meal before the camera could flash. lol I couldn't take picture cause my hands were greasy. But I experienced great customer service from a restaurant that cares about their customers and really enjoyed all of the food. After telling my wife about my meal, she was jealous that I didn't take her. She is coming to my next volleyball game so she can eat here before or after the game. read more

I've been going here since I was young, and the food is just as good as I remember, excellent and delicious. I had a mini meat jun/ bbq chicken plate with shoyu potato and bean sprouts. The mini is the perfect size for me, I feel like it might have been a little more before and probably cheaper, but other than that, they have some of my favorite Korean food. When my husband and I moved to Ewa, we wanted to try all the Korean restaurants in the area. We are fans of Tasty's in Waipahu, and that's kind of what we compared it to. In Ewa, we found this place and Pearls. We tried Pearls first as it was closer, and then here. I wasn't pleased with this place. CASH ONLY here. If you are purchasing food for more than yourself, who really carries that much cash around anymore? I'm just saying. The food wasn't that great. I had the meat jun/kalbi plate all veggies (cucumber, potatoes, kimchee). The meat didn't have any flavor, but at least it wasn't dry. The different types of kimchee tasted like they just made it an hour ago. The cucumbers still tasted like a cucumber with chili paste slapped on there. So disappointing! Unless that old Korean guy is helping you, chances of you getting good customer service is highly unlikely. It's a simple set up, there's a decent amount of seating. There's space between the tables, which I really like (I have issues with being squished next to other customers). The food is delicious and plentiful and the prices are pretty normal as far as Korean restaurants go. If you need to use the restroom, I believe the nearest one available is McDonalds, which is across the way. I absolutely love their chicken katsu. It's crisp, and not extremely heavy as it would taste/feel from most other food places have. I also enjoy their vegetables. Most times it's perfectly seasoned. Most times. If you live on the leeward/west side of this island and you have a craving for some yummy korean food, and you don't mind the possibility of non-enthusiastic customer service, maybe you should check this place out. read more

Elim's is a typical Korean eatery. As you walk in, you notice the large wall menu and pictures of some of the menu items. The service counter has a huge assortment of side dishes like kim chi, pickled radish, bean sprouts, and the old local staple.......macaroni salad. Next to the counter is a well stocked refrigerated beverage case full of thirst quenching accompaniments for your meal. We've been going here for years and I usually get the kalbi plate, but this time I chose to be adventurous and tried the Yook Gae Jang, a spicy Korean soup. Although Korean plate lunches are on the expensive side, I will take my cravings here when I am near Ewa Beach! Food is ok. Nothing special, but not bad. Service is usually pretty friendly. I'll talk story with the auntie while they make my food. Had an issue with the younger female once. I didn't see one of my usual side dishes out and asked if they had any more of the carrot and daikon mix. She told me they had run out. Ok. No big deal. I just picked from whatever they had out. She sat back down and went back to her phone. Fast forward 5 mins. Lady comes in and asks if she could just get a side order of the carrot and daikon mix. She said because she didn't see any out they must've not had today. The girl promptly told her she would check in the back, asks her uncle if they had any, and ends up ringing the lady after me up for a cup of the mix. She tells the lady they have extra in the back. After this incident I haven't been back when she works. She called out to her uncle in the back asking for the mix in Korean. Unfortunately for her, I understood exactly what she had asked him to pack in the cup to give to the lady after me because I speak it too. read more

After golf a buddy and I decided to try Elim Korean Barbecue out and we were blown away with the great food, friendly service and reasonable prices. I ordered the Meat Jun plate and not only was the portion size great but the food was delicious too! The sides were equally as delicious as well. There's nothing too fancy about this place. It doesn't have a touch screen menu or a voice controlled death bot that also doubles as a waiter. No fancy lights or leather furniture; no TV to watch the ongoing decay of western society and imminent uprising of our robot masters; no bouncer to keep unruly customers at bay (which is a good thing I guess); most importantly, no bathroom! But what it does have is amazing food at amazing prices. I may be a buck 35 of solid Asian steel but my metabolism allows me to consume food as if I had been on Army rations for the past 5 years (which I totally have). So suffice to say, paying $10 I got 2 solid meals out of my Chicken + Galbi combo. It was accompanied by 4 servings of vegetables of choice and two generous scoops of rice. The galbi was probably the best I've had on island so far but maybe that's because I've been starving for the past 5 years. read more
