This bus route runs from Kingston upon Thames, via Kingston Hill, (gets busy in the vicinity of the University). Then it meanders along the busy Robin Hood Roundabout stretch of the A3, close to Richmond Park and onwards through Putney, terminating at Putney Bridge Station. The route runs a 24 hour service, although - beware some of the drivers could do with upgrading their braking skills, so - prepare for a bumpy ride, on occasion. It's also quite entertaining (depending on your mood) late at night with groups of enthusiastic clubbers en route to Kingston's hotspots If you're in a hurry, you'll require reserves of patience, as it regularly barely crawls along the stretch from Putney Heath to Putney Bridge. It's handy for shopping in Kingston or Putney, for the glories of Kingston and Putney riversides, for its proximity to the Robin Hood or Ladderstile Gates at Richmond Park, and for the Kingston Hill and Roehampton Vale campuses of Kingston University.

The station is my access to the London Underground network, enabling me to be in Central London about 45 minutes after I leave my house. The Northern line used to be called the Misery Line but new trains and better signalling have improved things. We could still do with air conditioning on hot days but that's still a pipe dream. There are good bus links from Morden station to other destinations as well as a taxi rank. The ticket office and machines are usually in good working order. The Northern line is one of those confusing lines which splits in 2 halfway through the route and has 3 final destinations at the northern end, so make sure you get on the right train. Yay for public transport.

It's difficult to give a star rating to an underground station because, lets face it, you're not…read morethere to 'hang out', you're there out of necessity. Don't head to Morden if you're looking for something fun to do...there is not a lot here other than a lot of buses to take you somewhere else, but if you are passing through on your way somewhere else be sure to pop into the little newsagents in the station and grab yourself a drink and/or paper. The man who owns this little 'stand' is just lovely!

It is an approximate 800m walk across Hampton Court Bridge, over the Thames, to the Palace itself. The station is the terminus of a 2.5km branch line which branches off the South West Main line, just south of Surbiton. It was opened in 1849, and was initially operated by horses, with coaches being attached to the train at Surbiton (then called Kingston). Through trains to London soon followed, however, and led to the expansion of Molesey as a suburb. The line was electrified in 1916. An early engraving shows the main station building (now offices) virtually unchanged. The current station lies behind this, and comprises a waiting area covered by a large glass canopy. It includes: a small ticket office; bicycle storage (178 spaces in wheel racks under cover, with CCTV on the former platform 3); toilets; and ticket machines, for when the ticket office is closed. The adjacent car park has 200 spaces (charges apply). The station itself has level access and a portable-style ramp is available to assist wheelchair users onto trains. There is a small pop-up cafe serving snacks and hot drinks during the day. The ticket office is open: Monday to Friday - 06:30 to 18:30; Saturday - 08:00 to 19:00; and Sunday - 09:00 to 17:40 The station enjoys a half-hourly service for most of the day, stopping at all stations to/from London Waterloo. The journey from Waterloo takes 36 minutes, but with a change at Surbiton onto faster services, the time can be reduced to 30 minutes. The station has a coffee bar (that makes their own sausage butties!) with a good selection of nibbles. There are no ticket barricades here, but there are Oyster readers and ticket vending machines. There's also a staffed ticket booth with hours into the early evening and a decent sized (and cheap!) parking lot. Tip: If you have an Oyster Card, you can use it here. Your daily maximum charge for Zone 6 is going to be cheaper (by maybe £5) than a round trip train ticket from Waterloo Station, even if purchased in advance.

One goes towards Guildford and Dorking, via Epsom, and the other towards Waterloo, via Wimbledon. There are usually four trains an hour on both platforms apart from Sundays when I think it's just 2. What else? Well there's a small kiosk selling drinks and magazines, a taxi firm by the carpark and a pub across the road. That's about all folks!

Accessibility, train frequency, and the availability of trains late at night are all weaknesses. There are 4 trains per hour on Monday to Saturday roughly on the quarter hour. On Sundays and after about 9:30pm, it's just 2 trains per hour. Last train from Waterloo is around midnight, which will limit your late night London revelling. Platform 1 is towards London. Platform 2 is away (towards Guildford, Dorking, Epsom). Until they finish construction of a new walkway in 2014, there are NO accessible ways to/from street level at platform 2 (I.e., away from London). Two flights of about 10 steps each to get from the platform to street level. For platform 1 (toward London), there are just 2 or 3 steps and a kerb or 2 to negotiate. Probably reasonable with a buggy or wheeled trolley, probably harder with a wheelchair. There's a coffee counter that's open in the mornings. No other shops at the station or particularly close. The X26 express bus to Heathrow and the 213 24-hour bus both stop at the station.
