I would dearly love to give this place a five star review, because after months of searching it is where I found my current vehicle and it is a decent car. Unfortunately, the service I received during the sale was poor.
I viewed the car on a Tuesday afternoon. It was a great vehicle with just one problem - the motor in one of the wing mirrors wasn't functional. However, I was assured it would be replaced and the car would undergo a full MOT before I collected it. As I live 3 hours away I told them I'd be back on Monday. They said that wasn't a problem as it would be ready by Friday.
Now, I'm a cautious person and don't take people at their word, so on Monday morning I called to make sure the car was ready. I was told that it was and so I set off. On the outskirts of Glasgow I got rid of my old car, basically selling it for scrap. My in-laws picked me up and took me the rest of the way expecting to drop me off at the forecourt and head home, but when we arrived the manager was nowhere to be seen and the men on site told me that the car hadn't even been through its MOT. They suggested we go away for an hour and come back.
An hour later we returned, only to discover that the car had failed its MOT and needed work done. I asked to speak to the manager, but was told he was still on his lunch break - bear in mind this was at 2pm. We went away again and returned at 3.30pm. Finally the manager was on site, but there was still work to be done on the car. At 4.30pm it was ready...or so I was told. I paid the balance owed, got in the car and found that the motor in the wing mirror hadn't been replaced as promised.
On came the excuses. Nobody knew I was coming to collect the car that day. They got the motor working and it must have seized up again. And finally an offer to leave the car with them for another couple of days so they could fix it. Trouble is, I had no other car and no other way of getting home. That's fine, I was told, because I'd bought a 1 year warranty with the RAC and the motor in the wing mirror would be covered. The manager gave me £30 as an apology and sent me on my way.
Trouble is, the motor in the wing mirror was NOT covered by the warranty and Elite Cars washed their hands of the matter as soon as I left the forecourt. I've called and had promises made, but none have been kept. As a result, I've had to spent £140 to replace the motor.
Now, the car is of a decent quality, it has been far more reliable than my last two vehicles and the sale price was within the guide price for the type of vehicle given its age and mileage, so that's why Elite Cars doesn't get a one star review from me. However, the lies, the broken promises and the shoddy service have earned them a two star review. You can buy a good quality car from Elite Cars - just don't trust a single word they say. read more
