There's an old saying, There's nothing new under the sun. For me, the Yelp Elite event at the Franklin was a new wine-tasting experience. I've never intentionally sat down and had a plate-based meal paired with delicious wine. The Franklin has proven that it can be done and should be done as often as possible. The Franklin is chic and has a romantic vibe. There's nothing like enjoying a delectable glass of wine with friends or perhaps a significant other, especially in a beautiful spot like the Franklin. I can genuinely say that everything, from the wines to the salads, paired well. The friendly and attentive staff made the night unforgettable.. I look forward to returning very soon.

I attended a prior Elite event at The Franklin, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I signed up for this one-- and equally had as much fun or more! The Franklin is a wonderful wine bar located in the hat of the Stuy. The owner was wonderful while explaining his business and what they provide. The location is perfect for small or large gatherings. The place was dimly lit and soft music I the background. We were provided three wines and three small plates. I would say the Rose was my favorite, along with the bread and cheese plate. Kudos to the staff here along for Morlene having another wonderful event here at The Franklin.

I came here for a Yelp Elite event (my first ever) and honestly didn't know what to expect, but The Franklin ended up being such a cool spot. The owner, Elliot, shared how this used to be a bodega that he completely gutted and rebuilt into a plant-based wine bar -- and you can really feel the love he put into the space. Everything we tried was vegetarian, which was actually really refreshing. The olives, the cheese, the bread... simple but really good. The wines were the star though. Most of what they carry is natural wine (Elliot said around 85%), and we sampled a few. The Grillo white was my favorite -- kind of funky in a fun way, like a twist on Pinot Grigio. The place itself is small and cozy, with outdoor seating and just one bathroom (just noting that for people who care). The staff was great -- Kril was behind the bar and super friendly, and Nate and Moises made the whole event feel relaxed and welcoming. Apparently they bring in a DJ on Fridays and Saturdays, which I can totally see fitting the vibe here. And they've got a happy hour from 5-7pm -- plus a private event HH from 3-5, which is pretty cool. Overall, it's one of those spots you can lose track of time in. I would definitely come back on my own.

This was a lovely way to spend a weeknight! It was a pleasure meeting the owners and trying new wines. I love a girl dinner, which is what i would consider this. A lot of vegetarian meals tend to be this way, but as a decade-long vegetarian, that's fine by me! I would have loved to try the cacio e pepe or tiramisu, but I'll just have to go back for that. Thank you, everyone at the Franklin!

Gorgeous event that had the perfect blend of informative culinary that transitions to a delectable cuisine. Each wine was appropriately paired with an appetizer. I loved the Rose in particular and its pairing with the grapes, focaccia and cheese was wonderful. I can sense how much pleasure the staff takes in formatting the experience than the idea of serving a meal when they answered our question with ease and enthusiasm. It's a great place to indulge yourself in wine and conversation. Morlene continues to outdo herself with how thoughtful the events are. I will be sure to come back with friends and family.

The Franklin was such a treat from start to finish. Huge thanks to the team for hosting us for natural wines paired with vegetarian bites! Food and wines were spot on. We enjoyed olives and hummus with pita, cheese, jam, and grapes with focaccia, and salad. The cheese course was my favorite! I really like the Grüner Veltliner we tasted as well. The space itself is chic with a bit of a romantic vibe, and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming or attentive. As a first-time visitor, I was impressed and already plotting my return, especially to take advantage of their happy hour deal. I'd also love to come back and spend some time in their outdoor space when the weather is nice. Thanks to both Yelp and the team at The Franklin for hosting us and making it such a lovely experience!

I'm so glad I got to last minute attend this event! I had never been to The Franklin, but it is definitely now on my list for cute wine bars to meet up with friends at. The inside is so modern and swanky, with great music and ambience lighting, as well as movies projected onto a large wall. There are tables, booths, and seating around the gorgeous bar. The owner came out and spoke about the place's transformation from a bodega into a wine lovers paradise, complete with a wine store attached next door. We were served all non-meat options, mainly bites to pair with our glasses. The first round was pita, hummus, carrots, cucumbers and green olives. The hummus was ok but the olives were delicious with the glass of white they served alongside. Next we had delicious focaccia bread, cheese, and grapes. One of the pieces of cheese I had was sour, but the bread was perfect, as was the rose wine. Finally, we ended with some generously dressed Caesar salad and a final glass. The owner graciously welcomed us to stay after for cocktails, and mentioned they also have larger food options like pasta on the menu. I'm returning for sure - thank you to The Franklin team and Yelp for a fun Wednesday outing!

Came for the Yelp event and really enjoyed it. The Franklin Wine & Cocktail Bar is very intimate with a full bar, attentive staff, and nice decor. It's good for groups but great for a first date night to get to know each other while sipping on wine. Or getting to know each other all over again! The event was Wine and Light bites for vegetarian month. First course was a hummus with olives, pita bread, carrots and I think cucumbers. The hummus was good and surprisingly the cucumber went well with it. Second course was a platter with grapes, cheese and a raspberry compote I think, and sourdough bread. Everything complimented each other. Surprisingly the sourdough was mild and tasty. Lastly we received a Cesar salad which was good as well; I liked the shave cheese. The first wine was really good it was a great balance between dry and semi sweet. Second and third wine was also good but in the drier side. We all appreciated the full pours. I was excited to be able to attend this event because, I've always wanted to try out The Franklin especially the one in Jersey City. The mural of ODB is cool and funny. Also to mention the wine shop next door is affiliated with the restaurant where you can purchase most of the wines they serve. They also happy hour wine tasting. So go check it out The Franklin with your significant other and have a great romantic time.

The Yelp team always outdoes themselves with these events. I am continually impressed by the character of the owners of the restaurants and bars they find and the Franklin and owner, Elliott (sorry if I spelled that wrong) were no exception. It is so clear that the staff here knows what they're talking about and really knows their wine. Many I talked to at this event had a previous, phenomenal experience at the Franklin and I see why. From the Grillo to the Rose to the salad, bread, and fresh cut veggies, this place was crisp, fresh, and delicious from start to finish. The space itself is so cozy, I could've taken a nap in there haha. Thanks Yelp team and thanks to the Franklin. What a lovely evening.

448 Franklin Avenue**.. an address I visited two years ago at a wonderful Elite Event and one I will never forget.. I was stoked that Morlene chose The Franklin to celebrate Meatless in Brooklyn Month. The ambience of The Franklin: long beautiful bar, cozy seating for two or four, marble tables, soft lighting, is my kinda cocktail bar. Yes, friends, a bar you want to linger and savor the excellent wines offered and delicious bites. Elliott Bey, one of the dashing owners of The Franklin ( owned by a group of childhood friends: Alphonse Javier Jr., Hernandez Rau and Michael Gittens with Elliott) greeted the Elites and explained what we would be tasting this evening "as the bar serves an extensive array of wines sourced globally, catering to diverse preferences ranging from robust reds to refreshing whites." We were to drink a glass of Grillo from Sicily, a glass of Rose and the Gruner Veltliner from Austria. Our first course was a personal plate of pita, hummus, grapes, cucumbers and carrots sliced like matches perfectly paired with the Grillo. The second course was cheese, red grapes, bread and fig jam ( love, love, love my figs!) served with the Rose and the last, Caesar Salad paired with the Gruner. All were delicious, the Gruner was my favorite with a delicious flavor that features citrus (lime, lemon, grapefruit) and green apple. The Franklin is hopping.. there is a Happy Hour Menu that "features discounted drinks like the $12 Franklin Spritz, Divino Spritz, Old Fashioned, and Vodka Martini, along with $8 select wines. There is also happy hour food, such as discounted sandwiches and a $5 bread option. Happy hour runs Wednesday-Friday from 5 pm to 7 pm and Saturday-Sunday from 3 pm to 5 pm." Yes, I will be back! The Brooklyn Elites were sipping, tasting, and savoring the delicious wines. The service, music (80s) vibe were amazing! I had a blast with my Yelpie friends; Dayo, Percy and Andie B. what a great and fun group of people. Thanks to Mighty Morlene, Yelp, Elliott Bey and the staff of The Franklin and all the Brooklyn Elites who always make these events special! **ah you noticed.. Franklin Avenue! If you haven't discovered one of my favorite locations in Clinton Hill.. shame on you! Get to it! Also, be sure to check out Franklin Cellars next door, also owned by Elliot Bey

This was a nice intimate and cozy event. This was part of the meatless series so we paired dishes with natural wine. Elliott made sure to give us the notes for each wine before it came out. The first course came with hummus, carrots, celery, olives and pita. The second course came with sourdough bread, cheese and grapes. The third course was a delicious Caesar salad. Unfortunately I don't recall the wines that we tried. Overall it was great to connect with some elite members.

It was a lovely experience at The Franklin! It was my first time there, and I definitely plan to return to try more of their wine and food. I'm glad I got the chance to visit and even met some new people along the way. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but this visit really opened my eyes to exploring more and finding the types I enjoy. The Franklins is the perfect spot for a cozy date night with its dim lighting and intimate atmosphere, but it's also a great place to unwind after work with some bites and a glass of wine.

This wasn't my first time at The Franklin and it definitely won't be the last. Such a lovely atmosphere was created for this event. First, I really appreciated hearing from the owner and you could tell how passionate they are from their in-house selection of natural wines to the pricing and even the selection of dishes for the event. Beyond the event, the bar offers a great happy hour deal, personalized wine tastings, private event bookings and starting soon, they will have a DJ on Friday and Saturdays. All of the wines we tasted were great and with a generous pour I must say. For those with celiac, they unfortunately don't have any gluten free options so while I captured them in photo, couldn't indulge in them. Otherwise the tasting boards were nice. But what I enjoyed the most was getting to know the people at the event so thank you to the team for hosting us!

I came here around noon and the place haven't been filled up yet but that was truly toward my benefit as my waiter, Jeff was extra attentive (yay me!). He offered me both brunch and regular menu and was very friendly and eager to assist me if I needed it. After making all my choices, he complimented and said I made good choices and whether if that was true or not, it made me felt happy. Lol. All of the food portion were huge. I ordered their wings as my appetizer, shrimp/bacon taco for entrée and tres leche for dessert. With that they also offered me some fresh fried taco with homemade salsa that was really delicious and made me wanting more even though I had to pace myself. Presentation wise, it was all instagramable. They restaurant is very conscious about presentation so that was a huge plus. As for taste, it was all good. I especially enjoy my shrimp/bacon taco as it was huge and those trio-side sauce (hot sauce, green sauce and pumpkin sauce) was just outright slamming. As for portion it was larger then life, especially for one person. Honestly I think it could feed two people as I ended up taking half of it home. Overall, I enjoyed myself, felt really relaxed, enjoyed their playlist and especially my waiter, Jeff that help tied my experience with Tiny Cantina in nicely. Although try as hard as he might, he didn't get the Elite treatment since he's not even close to my level; I said this could be you one day! Walked right up to the counter and placed our orders with minimal issues in deciding what to go for. I opted to claim my chicken spring roll, a smoked beef brisket pho, and a Vietnamese cold coffee to stay. These three items where under $30 all together, and was grateful to get to be a part of this YEE experience! Shoutout to the Brooklyn Yelp Team! The chicken spring roll was bouncy, and the chicken inside looked like a chicken wing; very visually satisfying. The peanut dipping sauce was very flavorful and deep in umami. A great addition to the meal; highly recommend! I couldn't get over how packed my beef brisket pho was! I've been to some places that have way more broth than the noodles ratio, and this place made it 1:1. It was such a comforting bowl to have on such a damp fall day; really happy with the depth of the broth. How could vegan beef broth be so good?!?! What else blew me away was my coworker's vegan chicken in his pho. It tasted EXACTLY like chicken! Great texture and plenty of meat in every noodley bite! The Vietnamese cold coffee was also a very pleasant first time surprise! I've never had it before, and loved how refreshing, light, and sweet it was! It really would be lovely to have on a super hot and humid day, that's for sure. Great depth of flavor in the coffee itself with Lucy's adorable packaging. You get a really big portion that is very much worth what you pay, not to mention the smoked brisket is so TENDER, you'll fall in love. I also saved my Vietnamese Coffee (comes bottled as shown) for the next morning and it was SO TASTY. Not overly sweet but still very addicting. Revived my morning. Between the tea or the coffee- go for the coffee. 10/10 experience, I'm excited now to try all the variations on their menu!

I just love the color & decor of this place . The owner is such a kind & generous person. By the time we were done with the food we were all so full . I love plantains, so I was very excited to get a chance to try their food . All the dishes were very unique & with a lot of flavors. I just loved the black rice . The owner was nice enough to give me separate bowl of vegan options . I highly appreciate it . I was in love with the passion fruit juice , I asked for another glass . It was just too good . Also I am not a fan of hot chocolate but I gotta say I loved theirs ! It was yummy ! Haitian hot chocolate is the highlight of the night ! The plantain pizza was to die for . Thank you again for welcoming us, the stuff was just wonderful. Thank you for all your hard work guys .

PLAINTAIN, PLAINTAIN and MORE PLAINTAINS! What an event! Better late than never with this review…read more The food and beverages were flowing! The service was great, the place is so clean and cozy. The owner is extremely warm and welcoming. They started us off with the griot sandwich, I chose the pork. Super flavorful and moist. We samples the Haitian hot chocolate, very dark and rich chocolate, didn't think I would like it, but not bad. The passion fruit lemonade yumm!! The chicken and waffle was nicely seasoned, waffle was fluffy, syrup was rich and not too sweet. We sampled a delicious bowl consisting of their black rice (so good) pickled cabbage, crispy red cabbage, salad, plantains and shredded pork. An array of delicious and fresh flavors. Ans the finisher, red snapper pizza, on a plantain crust! Very different answers I'm here for it. A little greasy but good flavor, I'd live to try the other pizza options. The drinks were served in nice stainless steel cups with the restaurant name. Morlene did such a great job putting the great YELP touch. Got an adorable yelp x the tiny tassle scarf. Thank you BunNan and Morlene. So wonderful

For my side, I chose the Yucca Fries. The burger was tasty looking and hearty, with almost all the veggies, including lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions, mushroom, pickles, and bell peppers. I enjoyed the blend of Impossible and Beyond. The Bacn Bites were distinctly discernible in a delicious way. It was also tender and well seasoned. The veggies were fresh, crunchy, and flavorful. Cheese was nice and melty. Yucca Fries came with Deuce sauce. I also asked for Fatboys sauce to try. Yuca Fries were perfectly crunchy, dusted with a variety of spices. It was yummy, but it had a bit of a kick. Service was friendly and welcoming. Much appreciation to Fatboy's Vegan Burgers for opening up your place and being so generous. Also, thank you to Morlene and Yelp team for this lovely perk to try their burger and a side.

I learned that the business has been there for four years!!! He's a one man show cooking taking orders handling it all with grace! I order the HIJJA (similar to a chop cheese) and the nuggets. Scott made the best recommendations for sauce sides and drinks. I am not a vegan but he knew just what I would like. I ate at the establishment which has a small eating area equipped with stools. I ordered water as a drink. I will def be coming here again and hype to know that it is walking distance to my Job! Thank you CM, Scott, YELP!!!

Absolutely recommend this place! The ambiance right away pays homage to the Filipino culture. The…read moretropical design, the shack bar, and the big screen playing Filipino movies were all done respectfully. The drinks were also so good. We ordered an ube horchata and mango float Food wise, we ordered the bbq skewers, the mushroom sisig, the lumpia (egg rolls) and the beef tapa. Everything was artfully prepared, and nothing tasted too salty or overwhelming, which I liked. The staff and manager were so lovely and accommodating. The manager even took time to chat with us after and tell us about how he came to Kalye. Only thing, the food is a bit pricy ($24 for the sisig, for example). Nonetheless, it's a night out! If you're hesitant, don't be! Give it a try.

The check-in and pickup was so smooth. It was a hard choice, but I ended up with the Beef Tapa and Fried Lumpia for the comp meal. And after perusing the menu, I also ordered the Sliders and Pork Skewers. The food smelled so good that I ended up scarfing down one of the Lumpia on my walk to the subway. The Lumpia was easily my favorite out of the items I took home. They come 6 pieces per order and were massive, easily double the size of normal Lumpia. The Beef Tapa came with rice, fried egg and slices of tomatoes and cucumbers. The meat was flavorful, and this was a hearty dish. The items I paid for were also quite good. The sliders came two per order in the bright purple Ube buns. So very tasty. The Pork Skewers were great and paired well with the vinegar dipping sauce. I honestly think that I prefer this location over their Broome St location. The food just tasted better. I noticed that previous reviews for this Experience mentioned that they were given Yelp bags with their order. Unfortunately, I didn't get one. I went on the last day of the Experience so I think they must have run out. Nevertheless, I'm so grateful to have gotten this delicious meal. Thank you so much Kalye for your generosity.
