I have to say, I felt like a high roller thanks to the private-feel of the Fletcher Pilates class…read moreat Body Temple Pilates. Maria made the experience very comfortable and showed us the ropes without making the process as intimidating as it may look from the outside. This studio offers classes for those who are looking to tone their bodies to those who are going through physical therapy (full gamut). Our class included usage of the reformer machines that work both the legs and arms. We also incorporated a taste of bar work. Note that the room is both clean and crisp with several different forms of exercise available. The front of the building serves as a mini apparel shop (hard to resist the fun and sassy items on display).

Visiting from Scottsdale on busy news for my corporate job…read more & stumbled upon this hidden gem next to Whole Foods. Decided to stay for a barre/towel class as it was snowing & there happened to be a class staring in a few minutes. How lucky that I did! As a fitness professional with 33 years in the business, I am a bit particular about great instruction. I got to take class with Jen the owner. She was nothing short of amazing. Clear, fun instruction that left me feeling stretched, lengthened & revitalized from my little head to the tip of my toes. All the very fit gals in class were super inspiring as well. Cute boutique, warm greeting & lovely community. Don't hesitate- go!!

But it was raining on the morning of the outdoor yoga class, so it was moved indoors to the Breathe studio. That turned out to be A-OK, because I got to practice in their gorgeous studio. It's so calm and inviting. And our instructor, Teresa, was a delight. She led us through an easy flow that included lots of twists and eagle poses. The flow was accessible to everyone, and there were people of all levels practicing together. It was my first class at Breathe, and I felt completely welcome. Yoga people are my people, and it was obvious I was among my people. The class was beautiful and just what I needed. I do love practicing yoga outdoors, so I'll have to sign up for another outdoor yoga class with Breathe in the future. They offer them occasionally during the summer.

There were only 3 reformers there but i did appreciate that it was a small class, who wants to embarrass themselves in front of a large group?! Our instructor(Adrian?)was super nice and took her time explaining everything and ensuring our comfort. Bonus points for respecting personal boundaries and asking if we were comfortable with physical corrections/guidance. I thought "oh that wasn't so bad" but definitely felt it a couple days later. Loved everything about it and can't wait to return.

MEAN GIRL INSTRUCTOR!…read more I'm sure this studio is fine and not all instructors are this way. However, my experience with Jillian was not great. I was not greeted when I arrived, and took it upon myself to say hello and that I was there for the first time with class pass. This was not followed up by any welcoming or questions on how to accommodate me or if I'm familiar with Pilates. Just "what's your name?" followed by an "okay" when I told her. Then, once I took my spot at a machine and class began, Jillian began talking to the class about her experience teaching at the new Noblesville location. She talked trash about having to teach beginners who "have never taken reformer Pilates before and have no clue what they're doing" and even mocked how they were asking her "what do I do?" It's a new studio, you'd probably assume there were some new people joining. She told us she had to go through an entire bag of throat drops from "having to talk through the entire class for four hours telling everyone what to do".... isn't that the instructors job? Mind you, this was only my second time ever doing reformer Pilates. So this made me very nervous to do anything wrong or ask for any help. I didn't end up needing it though, because the class wasn't even challenging. Barely broke a sweat or felt a burn.

Hot Room, Cold Welcome-…read more I was invited (key word) to a Pilates class here at the last minute. I live close by, so I figured, why not give it a whirl? I roll up at a rebellious 7:36 PM, since class started at 7:30, only to find the door locked up like they were hiding national secrets inside. Two women behind the counter looked at each other, then at me, like I was a raccoon trying to break into their trash cans. One slowly came over, cracked the door open just enough so that her body had enough room, she stood at the door and said, "For safety reasons, we can't let anyone in after 5 minutes." Mind you there is an entire lobby and boutique that I could have been invited into. I blinked. "Safety reasons?" She explained it was because of "the weights." Ma'am, it's Pilates, not a WWE SmackDown. If a stray 3-pound dumbbell is all that stands between me and bodily harm, maybe you should consider issuing helmets. I mentioned it was my first time. She gave me a pity "awww" and told me to come back Saturday. Unfortunately, I'll be out of town, but even if I wasn't, I wouldn't return. They treated me like a Jehovah's Witness at a front door: cracked entrance, fake smile, no eye contact. Girl, I'm not here to sell salvation. I just want to stretch. Also, tiny detail, but I'm 98 percent sure it's illegal to deadbolt the door of an open establishment. If the hot room gets a little too hot and catches fire, how exactly are the Pilates faithful escaping? Through interpretive dance? If they had simply welcomed me in, explained their policies like normal humans, and offered to help me reschedule, I'd probably be writing a very different review. Instead, I got passive aggressive doorkeeper energy. As someone who is literally a news personality, it took everything in me not to blast them on social media. But I try to wield my sword wisely. So here we are. On Yelp.

They lock you into a contract, and when life happens--like losing a job--there's no grace or support. I recently reached out to cancel my membership due to financial hardship, and was told I'd have to pay the equivalent of over two months just to cancel, even though my contract is nearly up. When I first signed up, I was told they'd work with me if something came up. But now that I actually need help, I'm being met with nothing but silence and fees. For someone who's been a loyal member for years, this feels unfair. I just want people to be aware of how inflexible and unsupportive this membership really is when you need it most.
