The teachers are very supportive and it helped me grow in my SAT knowledge. I feel much more prepared and confident.

I just started celebrating because I got the score I needed for graduate school while writing this…read morereview...already intoxicated but will try to make it readable... Absolutely AMAZING! I have spent so much money on GRE prep services (thousands) but this is by far the best thing that actually made a HUGE impact on my GRE score overall. I cannot say enough about Charles and his ability to teach the material. He is both passionate and constantly full of energy... that's probably an understatement. Although he sometimes goes quickly through the material, he will ALWAYS stop if you have questions on how to go about answering the questions. In addition, he is always adamant about getting the students to text him, calling, emailing, carrier pigeon-ing, with questions that pertain to the material if you are having trouble. The tricks and strategy on ways he taught me on how to approach each question on the GRE test allowed me to answer most of the questions that I struggled with. He is one of the greatest factors that allowed me to put this burden that has plagued my progression in life down like a dirty dog... so dirty... In addition, the online modules that accompany the Princeton Review is exceptional! Not only are both the presenters attractive (not bisexual) but they go over in detail on how to approach each question step-by-step which allowed me to answer most of the questions that came up on the GRE. I can't speak for those who had bad experience from the MCAT or any other test but, regarding the GRE, Princeton Review is what allowed me to get through this test (with the addition of memorizing an a@@ load of flashcards) and able to finally apply to the graduate schools that will allow me to finally be able to call myself doctor!!!

I wanted to give PR a higher rating but this was the best my son & I could agree on…read more Some background...I consider my son bright with a strong work ethic. Prior to taking the SATs his only standardized test experience was the PSAT & without studying scored 1360. I had big hopes for him doing great in his SATs so we went the a PR private tutor ($3200, not an insignificant amount for us) as insurance. I was a bit surprised when he took PRs initial test assessment (1220) but not overly concerned. I figured with private tutoring he'd vastly improve because he had never seen a single SAT question/test. The PR Westwood private tutor dept manager...very professional & always responded quickly & thoroughly. Five stars The PR private tutor...very professional. The studying/homework requirements struck me as a bit lax, I would have expected a heavier workload. I also would have liked a bit more communication especially if there was any inkling that results would underwhelm. Four stars Results...my son took the SAT twice & both times was mid 1300s which was disappointing. To the Westwood office credit, I think they too were disappointed with the first result & offered six additional hours of free tutoring to prep for a 2nd attempt. But the results were near identical, no material improvement. Why two stars? The response from the Student Guarantees office. I thought there was a +150 pt refund guarantee for the tutoring services (so did the Westwood office) but the Student Guarantee office rejected my request. According to them, they take a baseline (1220 for my son) then "We'll then compare your starting score to the score you received on the official test." Fair enough, they don't state what that means. According to the Student Guarantees manager when I asked if PR would be satisfied with their services if my sons score went from 1220 to 1230 under the $3200 private tutoring program, he replied "Yes that is correct, any score increase satisfies the term of the money back guarantee, for the Standard tutoring package." Wow, how many parents would fork over $3200 knowing that? I'm not trying to be trivial but I would have expected a more empathetic & reassuring response from a company that touts their focus on customer results & satisfaction.

Don't believe all of the 5 stars! They say they know all the admissions directors at the top…read moreschools and will recommend your child...but if you write a negative review your child will be blacklisted. Another person just wrote me privately to say: "I saw your review for TutorMeLA. I pretty much had the same exact experience, and I was wondering what happened after you had posted your review? Did they reach out again, did they threaten you? I was just wondering if there is any way that we can take this complaint to another place because it's truly not right what these guys are doing. The threats are scary and I honestly believe they should be stopped."

Finding a tutor in Los Angeles was much more complicated than I expected. As someone who values…read moreeducation I did not want to hit a tutor for someone in my family without doing my best to ensure they were the perfect tutor for the job. I searched high and low (including online tutoring sites that let you choose your tutor) the outcome was fruitless.  Tutors who swore to have years of experience either were not as familiar with the material as they claimed or could not eloquently TEACH it. Also, the companies that charged ridiculous amounts like $150/hr did not show much for it. I know this because when trying Tutor Me LA, I also hired another tutor from a high-end tutoring company and Tutor Me LA's tutor was not only cheaper but MUCH MORE proficient.  We needed a few tutors - A gmat tutor, LSAT tutor, and a Math tutor. EVERY SINGLE tutor Tutor Me LA sent over was great. Their Guarantee took any hesitancy we had about scheduling a session and now I see why. This place offers outstanding service and their tutors are just fantastic.  Do your research. Make sure you find a tutor that can commit. Call this place first :)

This could not have been a better choice, as working with Avi Lidgi proved to be what I needed to take the next step in improving my score. After working with Avi for three sessions (three weeks), I was able to improve my GRE score by 13 points (V158 Q159 to V166 Q164) into the 90th%s. While the resources and study materials were certainly useful, Avi's expertise on GRE-style questions and strategy for approaching these questions were invaluable in improving my score beyond what I could have done myself in this short period of time. Many of the questions that I considered highly difficult became simplified and approachable under his tutelage. During the test, this saved me many precious minutes to check my logical reasoning in both the verbal and quantitative sections. As such, I highly recommend Twainstein to any individuals or groups seeking improvement in their GRE test scores. The test is an excellent opportunity to anyone seeking to advance their education, and this test preparation organization offers an exciting way to achieve even greater success.

Over the past year I decided to pursue a career change that would require taking the GRE (/ hiring a tutor) and getting accepted to grad school. Being budget conscious, the first thing I noticed was that Twainstein's services weren't cheap, in fact they were wayyy out of my price range. However after doing some research, reading some reviews, having a pressure-free consult with Avi, and deciding that the best investment I could make was in my education, I made the leap. Best. Decision. Ever. Over the course of a month and half, Avi and I worked together to improve my confidence and test-taking strategy/abilities (Dare I say i'm no longer afraid of fractions?). He was patient, observant and tailored our sessions to my needs. I put in a lot of effort inside and outside of our sessions, and he did the same for me. I also really appreciated his routine checkins, his availability, speedy email responses, and his comprehensive approach to the exam. If you are slow to learn, have a LD like myself, or just lack the confidence, please don't let that deter you from taking the exam! You can achieve your goal score like I did with hard work and proper guidance, which is why I highly recommend Avi and his team.

My review is from the point of view of an instructor in research projects here. I have had the…read moreprivilege of working with very smart and driven students, so as an instructor, that is a big positive. For context, I have had students who have won science fair awards every year since 2020 (which is the first year I had a student who I mentored in a math project qualify to become ISEF Finalist, and go on to Wharton Upenn on a scholarship). Consequently I also worked with a student who I mentored in another math project, who eventually won a Gold Medal at KSEF (Korea Science and Engineering Fair). Another example, this year, I mentored a student and helped them win 1st place prize at the Washington State Science and Engineering Fair 2026. In terms of fulfillment from the point of view of an instructor, I am very thankful for working with driven students who I helped nurture to become champions. In addition, I have mentored students who gotten close to perfect scores at the AMC 12, then distinguished themselves on the AIME and gone on to the USAMO and USA(J)MO. The students are very driven and that always makes the role of an instructor extremely fulfilling. We also published several very high level papers in peer-reviewed journals, even getting students accepted to research groups at universities where they work with PhDs and MDs and have distinguished themselves. From an instructor point of view, all of this is extremely fulfilling to say the least. I always wanted to build champions, and that is what I achieve continuously. Example paper published by my student Jin Yoo (who went on to Duke University studying computer science, and who won Gold Medal at KSEF, the only gold in a pure math project that year): https://doi.org/10.36838/v7i2.107 Additionally I was an instructor for several college level courses here, including many that were done with USC. Essentially if a student did well in these courses, they got USC credit for them. In particular, the course in Linear Algebra-Multivariable Calculus and one in Finance attracted several very dedicated students who learned and understood the foundational proof based aspects of undergraduate mathematics. All these students went on to top schools like UC Berkeley, NYU and Columbia university, majoring in Mathematics or a similar discipline. What started as a simple effort to produce champions has eventually become a process where driven students reach their maximum potential as over-achievers. I am thankful that I have the opportunity to work with them.

The weekly essay workshops that started in early summer were super helpful. What I loved most was getting feedback from different teachers each week - they all brought unique ideas to the table and helped me make my essays much better. One thing that really helped was how organized A1 was with deadlines. They laid out a clear schedule that made sure we finished everything way ahead of time, which took away so much stress. My monthly meetings with the counselors, Ryan and Esther, were amazing - they helped me figure out which schools to apply to, what major would be the best fit, and how to tell my story through my essays. I also worked closely with Maddie teacher on my resume and UC activity list. She helped me make sure I included all my important experiences and achievements in the best way possible. Even though I ended up getting into NYU through early decision (which meant I didn't need my other applications), I'm so glad I had everything ready to go well before the deadlines for any outcome that could have happened. Looking back, I wouldn't be where I am today without A1's help. The teachers really cared about my success, and they gave me all the tools and support I needed to put together strong applications. I'm really grateful for all their help!

All of her UC prompts were just ideas at that point. Our first meeting with Julia was a long conversation, during which she helped extract a full list of extracurricular activities and developed ideas for the essays, personal statement, and Common App essay. Over the following weeks, I watched each essay come together and be finalized one by one. She created a list of schools and a structured calendar that kept my daughter on track. I'm happy to say this was the best investment we could have made. My daughter was accepted to UC Berkeley and several other colleges. The peace of mind I had knowing Julia was managing the college application process was priceless. She is knowledgeable and competent, and she brings so much compassion to her work. There were many times when I felt overwhelmed, and she was always able to calm me down. I only have one regret--not using her services for my oldest son during his college application journey. I am confident that Julia will continue to be a valuable part of my children's educational journeys, whether it's navigating college course enrollment, updating resumes and LinkedIn profiles, or applying to graduate school.
