This tea room/ice cream shop looks small but there are actually two rooms inside with at least 4 tables each. I ordered tea and scones. Love how you get a whole pot of tea here, not just a mug's worth like in the States. She gave me two fruit scones with jam, butter and clotted cream to go with my tea. All this for £4.90. The scones were wonderful! She heated them up so they were nice and warm. So perfect with the clotted cream and jam. They also serve lunch and, as their name suggests, you can get a Sundae here. You can build your own Sundae. Highly recommend this place!

The shop is very well-stocked with all the sorts of things you'd expect; speaking from experience, the quality of their produce is very good although the prices are a shade on the high side. The pick-your-own area is well laid out and again, the quality is certainly there -- we picked stacks of raspberries and enjoyed them very much. They're very consistent with their quality and although there are other nice bakeries in York, for me, none of them compete with Thomas's. Thomas the Baker is really cheap too, it's possible to get a decent lunch there for a couple of quid. The only bad thing I can say is that it's unhealthy but then again all bakeries are!
