We had not been to Elizabeth Street Cafe for a long time. Not for any reason in particular but I am so glad we went today as it will be on regular rotation moving forward. The food was so amazing and Mackenzie gave the perfect amount of attention. Not too much, not too little, and my water glass was always refilled (I am hard to keep up with that way). We had the spring rolls and the lettuce, mint, cilantro, and Tai basal to wrap them up with and everything was so fresh and delicious. I had the marinated pork sandwich and everything about it was amazing but the roll itself was incredibly fresh and delicious and made everything come together in a delightful way. I love Elizabeth St Cafe! I always recommend it to people because it's a solid spot. I love a spring roll but I'm not a big shrimp person, so I find it hard to find ones with chicken, pork or beef. Every spring roll I've ordered at Elizabeth st has been so good but I think the spicy chicken crunch & bbq pork are my favorites. I love mixing all of the sauces. I crave them all the time. Additionally their Banh Mi's also come in a ton of protein options. The bread is fresh, and the sandwich is light and tasty. The staff is great, the last time I was in my server Cayman was very nice. Although it was busy, we were seated quickly. The stools we were placed at were uncomfortable and wobbly. Food came out quickly and tasted fine. It's pretty overpriced compared to going to the actual authentic Vietnamese restaurants in the area with larger portions and more flavor. WOW!! This place was PERFECT!! I was a bit hesitant at first with the bakery-Vietnamese fusion but guys: this place is AWESOME!! The Singapore noodles were to die for and the chicken vermicelli bowl was generous and delicious! My little brother loved the nutella banana hazelnut crepe and we all enjoyed the summer rolls (shrimp and pork was our favorites)! We came at around 1 PM, and they were slammed with customers ( now I see why) and was a 20 minute wait time. 1) 2 stars for ambiance. This café is so cute. It says it's right on the corner with the patio and then an inside, intimate seating area. During the day, it's really lively and at night it's very quaint and sweet, perfect for a date 2) food is 1 star. The spring rolls were mostly rice, the pork was extremely chewy and overcooked. The salad that I got was also very underwhelming, although the dressings were really good. Probably due to location, but I would say this place is overpriced / overrated. Brunch has some great options but again hit or messed with the protein, being overcooked or the portions being really small. 3) I would rate the service 1 star. We waited at least 15 minutes for water. And the server walked by at least three times without seeing if I needed anything. Very friendly and cute place. They were very accommodating to our group as we had a few changes during the week leading up to it. I'm really glad I came. It is a really cute place. We were inside. It gets a little loud but for the most part, it was OK. Outside looked really nice as well, especially this time of year (November). Everyone seemed happy with their dishes. They came out promptly and warm. I had the Singapore noodles, which were really good (a little spicy but in a good way). We also shared benigets and they came out warm-- such a treat! The addition of raw Thai basil, sprouts, and carrots made it super refreshing. I loved the fried garlic on top to give it extra crunch and flavor. So delicious, still thinking about it now! It came in a huge bowl that's shareable for 2. On the brunch menu, it is under the Specialties section. We were seated outside, which worked out well as the weather was great and it was loud inside. What really stood out was the grilled chicken lemongrass skewers. I have never had that before when I ordered chicken pho. The broth was authentic with not too much msg like some other places.
