I love Elizabeth St Cafe! I always recommend it to people because it's a solid spot. I love a spring roll but I'm not a big shrimp person, so I find it hard to find ones with chicken, pork or beef. Every spring roll I've ordered at Elizabeth st has been so good but I think the spicy chicken crunch & bbq pork are my favorites. I love mixing all of the sauces. I crave them all the time. Additionally their Banh Mi's also come in a ton of protein options. The bread is fresh, and the sandwich is light and tasty. The staff is great, the last time I was in my server Cayman was very nice. I don't know why reviews for this place aren't better because I had an amazing experience! from the outdoor seating (feels like Europe?) to the service to the food everything was amazing. I got a mocktail that honestly tasted like a cocktail with a nice bitter touch and our group got fresh and fried spring rolls, salad, and then a few bahn mi's and I got a rice noodle salad bowl with pork which was incredible. Although it was busy, we were seated quickly. The stools we were placed at were uncomfortable and wobbly. Food came out quickly and tasted fine. It's pretty overpriced compared to going to the actual authentic Vietnamese restaurants in the area with larger portions and more flavor. WOW!! This place was PERFECT!! I was a bit hesitant at first with the bakery-Vietnamese fusion but guys: this place is AWESOME!! The Singapore noodles were to die for and the chicken vermicelli bowl was generous and delicious! My little brother loved the nutella banana hazelnut crepe and we all enjoyed the summer rolls (shrimp and pork was our favorites)! We came at around 1 PM, and they were slammed with customers ( now I see why) and was a 20 minute wait time. 1) 2 stars for ambiance. This café is so cute. It says it's right on the corner with the patio and then an inside, intimate seating area. During the day, it's really lively and at night it's very quaint and sweet, perfect for a date 2) food is 1 star. The spring rolls were mostly rice, the pork was extremely chewy and overcooked. The salad that I got was also very underwhelming, although the dressings were really good. Probably due to location, but I would say this place is overpriced / overrated. Brunch has some great options but again hit or messed with the protein, being overcooked or the portions being really small. 3) I would rate the service 1 star. We waited at least 15 minutes for water. And the server walked by at least three times without seeing if I needed anything. The drunken beef noodles (#53) was recommended by our amazing server Gabby and was a fan favorite for the table! The pho (#32a) delicious and the Singapore noodles (#57) was tasty as well. First time here today for lunch! Our server was amazing. Super personable and kept all of our beverages topped off. We sat outside, and while it was warm, they did have a good amount of shaded areas with umbrellas. I ordered this shrimp on me, which was amazing. The infamous shrimp rolls were delicious. The cucumber and mango salad was actually very refreshing, light and a hefty serving. Service was not to my liking, I wasn't greeted or brought water until 15 min of me waiting around for a menu when I was seated and service throughout was lackluster. It's best to uber here or find street parking if possible as there's only 2-3 spots available in front of the restaurant. What really stood out was the grilled chicken lemongrass skewers. I have never had that before when I ordered chicken pho. The broth was authentic with not too much msg like some other places. The meal was substantial. The mini size condiment bottles were super cute too! Service was good. They do get very busy so reservations recommended. The Pork Belly Steamed Buns and Steamed Rice Rolls were outstanding. We also had the Fried Spring Rolls and Ginger Chili Oil Dumplings--both excellent choices. For entrées, we ordered the Drunken Beef Noodles and Ribeye Fried Rice, which were packed with flavor. Dessert was the perfect ending: Ube Vanilla Ice Cream and a couple of macarons.
