Bought some cucumber body oil online. Arrived today, while transferring it to a smaller jar I got some on my fingers. Now it's like some ol' lady smell blew up in my house. Like somebody's dead or nearly dead granny strolled in and rubbed her death musk everywhere. I know it's just stuck in my nose but... THIS IS NOT CUCUMBER! Such a disgusting smell. Each shelf had its signature fragrance that consisted of not only perfume but body oil, soap, candle, and lotion. The winner for me was the Magnolia Eau De Parfum; it stole my heart. If you're a local, you may be wondering, along with an eye roll, why you'd want to even step inside any of the shops in such a tourist-centric location, as Ghirardelli Square. They have quality locally made items, sans the kitschy San Francisco t-shirts and magnets. We spent a good amount of time just browsing all the items, reading the quotes, smelling the lotions and just enjoying the unique gifts. The candles alone are what drove me in. I'm a sucker for magnolia or anything tropical but CHOCOLAT AU LAIT CANDLE??!?!?! CAN I JUST LICK MY ENTIRE HOUSE RIGHT NOW?!?! The girl at the counter told me "It's going to make you want to eat everything." Who knew she meant I would be chomping on my pillow in my sleep. I stumbled upon elizabethW while putzing around Fisherman's Wharf looking for goodies to bring as gifts slash mementos for when I visit my boyfriend's family in a far off land. elizabethW has some really unique scents, too bad I had to discover all of them on my own because the two sales associates were too busy chatting about another female near the register. Really unprofessional if you ask me. There were a couple people in the store perusing and sadly none of them were being helped and were left to their own devices. I'm sure this store would have much higher sales volume if they hired more attentive staff. I understand it was a Saturday afternoon and these young girls could have spent it doing what young people do, but you're at work and your main job is to assist patrons. Luckily I spotted one girl who was tidying up the store and making sure everything was merchandised beautifully. I didn't catch her name (she wore glasses) but she was helpful in answering my questions and helped me sample perfumes. If it wasn't for her I probably would have left the store empty handed. I ended up buying a perfume for myself just to try this small batch artisan perfume situation out. It was pricey but I'm happy to support small and local businesses. Also, word to the wise.. if you're planning to purchase their perfumes as gifts or for beware, beware that the metal top cap is not glued or fixated to the glass bottle and may leak. My bottle that I bought had leaked when I opened it but they let me exchange it for another bottle and I noticed it was kind of loose on that bottle as well. They might want to reconsider the design of the bottles since these products are expensive and I would hate for them to go to waste due to leakage. I hope these girls work on commission because the girl who helped me out deserves the bump in pay. The other two not so much. read more

Ghirardelli Square is full of some great little fun shops. It's a fun place to find some cool local items. I won't lie and say I'm a great mind in terms of Bath Products, Fragrances and Beauty Items - although I did get some swank beard lotion for Christmas. This is one of three locations of this cute shop and I'm here to tell you that it's worth a visit. The store itself is named after Elizabeth Wightman, who was a Mountain Rancher back in the 19th Century here in California. The store is primarily fragrance driven and it is clear that it is run with passion. They have a number of cool products and things to explore. This location also has a some great pieces of jewelry and accessories. Personally, I visit to check out some of the fun gift items like books and kitchen goods. It's always great to be able to share a fun item from California with my family members in other spots of the world. If you have some time to spend at Ghirardelli Square, or for that matter at their other locations (Carmel-by-the-Sea and SFO) elizabethW is a great place to check out. read more

SUCKER! is my middle name - especially when bath/shower/lotion/oils are involved. Did I mention that I LOVE lavender smelling items? Considering I'm always running around crazy and hyperactive, that Lavender has been my best friend? Well look no further - ElizabethW has an entire line of fragrance, linen spray, oils, shower gels, etc in lavender, and Rosemary. Who knew? I wandered into the store - c'mon it was cold outside and warm inside plus a bunch of yummy smelling scents. This store kinda reminds me of a Crabtree and Evelyn. Something about the vibe. I wanted to buy some stuff - but I couldn't take it aboard my flight (was leaving tomorrow :( bye bye Bay). Some of the stuff you can take - the hand creams, eau de parfum, but I really really really loved the body oil (which i love more than lotions). The sales associate was quick to let me know they can ship to me - at what prices you ask - under $50 - $7 s&h/ $51-$99 - $10 s&h/ and free ship for $100. I first fell in love with the Elizabeth W store when they had a pop-up in the SFO airport, which no longer exists (RIP). If you're not from California, they're located in the (in my opinion) poorly laid out Ghirardelli Square. As someone who had never been to the Square- the uber ride threw me off. Get off directly in front of the giant, lit-up Ghirardelli Square sign and walk up the stairs to what feels like the second level, though the sign calls it "Fountain Level," I believe. There, you will find Elizabeth W tucked in the right corner. OK, the good stuff. This is one of my happy places. My favorite things: 1. Beautiful, independently made cards with lovely art. 2. Unique pieces of jewelry, particularly bracelets and agate statement pieces. 3. Distinct and lovely fragrances. At this point, I have three petit parfumes from them: Vevitar, Magnolia and Lavender. Everything smells amazing. Its honestly insane. 4. Great travel size beauty supplies (the cucumber travel set is my favorite). 5. Gorgeous homewares, decor and other small gifts. Its like sensory overload, in the best way possible. When everything is locally sourced, created with so much heart, and just BEAUTIFUL to look at, what's not to love?! If you're 1) trendy and 2) like cute little things, this place is for you. It's full of your typical rifle paper company products, sweet smelling fragrances and hand lettered trinket gifts. Be warned, it is very expensive. There's a lot of cute things, but they come with a SF tourist hot spot price tag. What I thought was adorable about this store was its pug section. My love affair with elizabethW fragrance's began when I stumbled upon this cute perfumery while walking around Ghirardelli Square. Many similarities to Crabtree & Evelyn, if I had to compare.. The selection of various scents are classic and each one is infused and inspired with certain herbs and flowers. Some, much like essential oils: Lavender, Rosemary, Lilac, Magnolia, Orange Flower & Chamomile, Tea Rose....you get the picture here... beautiful, natural scents. When it comes to perfumes, I have a seasonal collection. A perfume 'collector' if you will. BUT, I love a fragrance that can be worn at all times, regardless of the four seasons living in Chicago...(really, more like 3 seasons now). My favorite here: The Vetiver collection (popular too). It is one of those scents that can be worn morning, day & night. It is clean, fresh, earthy with light citrus tones. I would have never found it, had elizabethW not carried it. It's one of my everyday perfumes. There are so many refreshing & romantic scents here, it's hard to pick just one. Once you find your 'scent' they have everything you may need to accompany it. Lotions, candles, body oil, soaps, diffusers, shower gels, bath salts, even shampoo! You can certainly 'go crazy' in here. They do not have a store in Chicago, so when I run out, I either purchase via their website, or on Amazon (free shipping & sometimes a few $'s less). Moderately priced at around $42 (2 fl. oz). Thank you elizabethW for another new addition to my already extensive perfume collection! If your near the area - it's definitely worth a stop in. They also carry some nifty trinkets as well.. My sister in law sent me some elizabeth w bath salts from Canada and I was excited to see they were made in SF. I wanted to buy the scent in the eau de parfum but wanted to smell it in person instead of ordering it online. Sometimes a scent doesn't always match from product to product but these ones do. I called the shop to find out their hours and was told they weren't really a storefront but that I could come by, look around and shop if I wanted. I got to see boxes of rosepetals, the workers packaging the cute boxes, and rows and rows of products. The guy that helped me was super nice and answered all my questions. While being a tourist in Ghirardelli Square I came across Elizabeth W. The scent coming from the shop was heavenly and the staff was so friendly and inviting. I fell in love with several scents; especially Vetiver and Neroli Chamomile. Before we even left the area my mother and I were stopped twice by ladies who wanted to know what we were wearing. These perfumes are easily my new favorites beating out scents like Prada and Angel. I only had enough room in my suitcase for a couple bottles of perfume so now I'm on the hunt for the lotions and body cream. I know I can order them online but I was hoping I could find it around Dallas so I could collect some of their other scents. If you're in the Bay Area visit this shop. It's like nose crack. The prices are reasonable when I consider I normally pay $80+ for a bottle of designer perfume. They also have a whole line of home fragrance products and great gift ideas. read more

I can't help but be enamoured of Elizabeth W.'s products. Everything is of top-quality and it feels good to support a local business. Their products, which run the gamut from body lotion and bath oil to travel-sized candles and potpourri satchels, are wonderfully fragrant and add a little touch of luxury to everyday life. I like the sweet tea fragrance though some of the others are just as nice. Their fragrances would work well on both young hipsters and grandmothers, as they offer at least 8 different scents. I was first introduced to elizabethW from my old boss. It was Admin professionals day and I was surprised with a beautiful assortment of soap, lotion, mini perfume and a few other goodies. I was thrilled. Very thoughful...especially coming from a man. Fast forward a few years and I still love coming in for their Leaves room spray and body lotion. It's a clean and fresh scent that isn't too over powering. Last night when I stopped in to pick up part of of my moms Christmas gift I noticed they are carrying a lot of new seasonal holiday candles and tons of cute aprons. Discovered elizabethw while exploring Ghiradelli Square. I was disappointed in Ghiradelli as a whole, but there were a couple stores that I enjoyed browsing, one of which was elizabethw. They have a lot of body care items in many different scents. Also, some other unique items. A little pricier than your average souvenir shop, but still not too expensive. And much better quality than cheap tshirts, magnets, and shot glasses. I chose a Redwood scented hand lotion, a reminder of the scent of redwood trees that we enjoyed on our California road trip. I wandered in here because I could smell the store from halfway across the Square. Each and every one of their scents are AMAZING. I spritz the Sweet Tea and Lilac sprays on my sheets and they smell like they've been hung to dry in the sun all afternoon. Very crisp, clean scents. And the staff here? Sooo helpful, and they'll load you up with samples after you buy stuff. A few boutiques in the Marina also sell Elizabeth W products, so you can still hoard up E.W. products while avoiding the Wharf tourist douche bags. read more

The ambiance is nice. The scents are pure. I wouldn't balk at the prices. Eau de parfum for $35 is hardly what I would call a rip-off. And yet something is missing. So many brands carry single note scents like rose, magnolia, green tea etc. I think Elizabeth W has potential, but needs to do something more to stand out. *Update--I am changing my review from 3 stars to 5 stars. I decided to purchase some of their products because I figured I could use some staples and I liked the simple packaging. Now that I have been using the products for a month or so, I seem to love them more and more each day. The lotions are moisturizing, but unlike other potions that contain shea butter, Elizabeth W's lotions absorb beautifully. The scents are simple and pure, but not boring. They are great for when you want to feel natural, when you don't want to be that girl on the bus who makes everyone nauseous because her perfume is so strong. I love this store. It is nostalgic, it reminds me of my English grandmother that I don't but should have. The store has things that all proper girls ought to have, like the lavender drawer liner, hanger sachets and beautiful aprons that Bree would wear on wisteria lane. I am partial to the magnolia scent. The body cream is really rich but does not feel greasy and makes my skin smooth and smells nice through out the day. I also love the fact that 98% of the products are made locally just up the street. Michael, the gentlemen there was very helpful and knowledgeable. I found out about this place a few years back after a Secret Santa gift exchange. I was ecstatic, I totally scored!! I usually get stuck with something like a cheesy picture of a leopard with a matching leopard print frame or some other horrid atrocity. Not that year! Instead I was given a beautiful gift basket containing a bottle of Vetiver scented body lotion, a yummy pineapple scented candle, and some lovely sweet tea soap. I've come to this shop a few times and each time the staff is terrible. I love the products but the customer service has been so off-putting. Today, some girls said hello and then went back to their personal conversation about college math. Okay fine, I just milled around the shop a little. Then another girl comes back from her break and gets in my face and insists she hold on to the lotion I had in my hands in a very unfriendly, brusque way. I felt like she was insinuating I might steal something. I made my purchases and tried to make small talk with the 3 girls behind the counter but they were so dismissive and rude and throwing pens around. So you were mad I was in the store?
