Both the bride and groom were from Springfield, IL and had family and friends from the area but had quite a few of us driving from out of town (we decided to make the three hour drive from Chicago). As an out of town guest, it was one of the most seamless wedding events we've attended with everything in the same space. The groom was Indian while the bride was Caucasian and they managed to have an Indian ceremony first followed by the traditional Christian ceremony in the same space both which were well done. The mandap with the fire for the Indian ceremony perfectly doubled for the Christian ceremony. Although we hadn't brought our three year old with it was nice that they had a playground close by so the perfect spot to entertain little ones. The weather was nice so during cocktail hour on the terrace it was nice to be able to walk around the pond they have behind while waiting for the reception to begin. The staff perfectly transformed both the room we were in for the ceremonies as well as the neighboring room into a great banquet hall for the 250-300 guests that attended. It was a wonderful spot to have a wedding and most guests like myself left the day having a wonderful time! A perfect, auspicious way for the sweet bride and groom to be beginning their married life together.

They were very unorganized, uninformed and unprofessional. Staff created unneeded trouble and drama that could have been easily handled in a professional manner. Don't be deceived by the good looks, because the staff was horrible. The bride spent a lot of money for her big day, and the staff ruined the reception. No one was at fault except for the staff. Don't ruin your event or wedding. Look elsewhere

I contacted Kenny and he was great at answering my questions and working with me, as I was organizing this from out of state. We rented the multi-purpose room and the adjacent kitchen. The staff was wonderful at helping us set up the table and chairs, as well as the break down of them after the party. They provided us with trash cans to use during the party and collected it at the end. They were polite and flexible as our party ran a little longer than we expected! I appreciated that the restrooms were right outside of the multi-purpose room, clean and stocked. The staff member, who helped the day of the party, was available to us and a good communicator. Thank you! Also, I had control of the thermostats which was awesome, as we all know how the temperature fluctuates in the Midwest. Some considerations: 1.) You are not allowed to put any decorations on the walls. This was fine by me and helped simplify decoration choices. 2.) The kitchen had a refrigerator and stove but no coffee pot or dishes. They have a sink which made it easy to just wash what we used before packing it away. There's a contract you sign and a deposit you put down. Basically: be respectful of the space and keep it clean. If you change your plans, let them know ahead of time and you'll get the deposit back. This community center was a great choice for us and affordable! The shower was a great success, I highly recommend them!

It's right across from the capital, so the view is nice, and Abraham Lincoln is just outside (I had to adjust his tie, see PIC). Like pretty much everyone else in this town, the people who work here are genuine and friendly. This place is right next to a true American hero's office, Tammy Duckworth. I wonder if she ever comes in here.

Cons: I asked for a J&B on the rocks and a corona*, but sadly they were out of corona even though it was on the beer list. Drinks were slightly pricey for downstate IL. Another minor gripe is that it seemed that the people working there seemed to be pushing everyone out as the night was ending. Ebben and his team at Arlington's delivered exceptional service from start to finish. The food was incredible, the location required minimal decoration, and the staff were composed and communicative. What really stood out to me was how the team helped problem solve throughout the reception. At one point, our music playing device malfunctioned, and Ebben swooped in ready with spare cords and helpful words. We had underestimated the amount of time we would have to dance, but it was no problem - Ebben came in clutch with bar suggestions at the last minute. This guy is the gold standard for customer satisfaction, and was so easy to work with. I feel like in a different life he could have had a successful career as a hostage negotiator. The rest of his team was fantastic - we loved the bartenders and they had excellent communication with Ebben throughout the entire reception. I don't plan on getting married again LOL, but if I did, I would absolutely pick Arlington's every time. Its 10 minutes from downtown in an area with several chain restaurants around (Burger King, Taco Bell, Jimmy John's, etc) There's also a pretty good Mexican restaurant attached to one end of the inn. The front of the inn is like a porch. Its well maintained. The King room I had was huge. I love that I could easily control the temperature. Bed is comfy and so are the pillows. Overall a nice room. Theres an indoor pool in the hotel, that I did not use. There's also a small gym area with just machines, no weights. Not a bad place to stay in Springfield.
