Whitney at Elle Marie Salon in Mill Creek/Bothell is an outstandingly talented hairstylist who adheres to open communication with her customers. I have been going to Whitney for about six months and impressed with her talent, knowledge, and willingness to ensure my customer satisfaction at a high caliber level. I have been to a couple of very expensive stylists in Bellevue over the last decade and needed a change since I was starting to feel like I was being rushed in my appointments. After doing some searching on Yelp and other sites for a great stylist for my type of hair, I found Whitney at Elle Marie. I believe Whitney (and the Elle Marie Salon) is dedicated to always improving her knowledge, training all the while staying on- trend with up-and-coming styles and innovations within the ever-changing and evolving environment of hair-styling. Whitney takes time to learn about her customers and selects products that will specifically work with your unique hair and scalp needs. She doesn't force ancillary products on her customers to meet quotes or salon requirements. I think she gives honest opinions and evaluations of your hair and ensures you are happy. She takes her time to cut color and curl your hair and I never feel rushed or that she's distracted from her focus on my hair. The salon has very flexible hours and opens earlier than most places. Elle Marie Salon is involved in a few philanthropic and community programs in the cities it serves. The team and the salon are civic minded and supports causes such as breast cancer. I've now been going to Elle Marie for over a year, and Roxie is my gal! I am so happy to be able to say GOODBYE to bad haircuts forever. I know I can depend on her for a great cut every time. She's also done some color for me, and I love it! I have a hard time justifying spending TOO much on a haircut/color, but she's flexible and often suggests other options for me. For example, she introduced me to balayage, so I wouldn't have to touch up as much, and it's less expensive. I appreciate her help, she's a pro and knows what she's doing! I have referred many friends to her, and they keep going back. One of my good friends often lamented over her unruly hair and her inability to wake up early and fix it (because who likes to do that?!) and Roxie has given her the hair of her dreams. It's beautiful and perfectly suited to her, and most of all, she is HAPPY. The location is lovely, with lots of windows and light flooding in; it's very spacious and comfortable; the waiting area is fab with coffee, water, and tea; and they'll even offer you wine during a color process in the afternoon/evening. :) read more

I've been going to see Kristin for a couple of years and she does a fantastic job! She has great attention to detail and really listens to what I like to have done. I had Christina do my hair today..First of all she consulted with me..I didn't know what I wanted to do however..I showed her pics of bouliage and coler..My hair had been damaged previously.. So quite I was scared to do anything..I had two inches of outgrowth from a blonde heavy foil...Last 3 to 4 times it was foiled prior it was a bleach and tone..She explained it would be best at this point to do a foil and ultimately less damaging..So she gave me estimate of $268.00..Yes she is a senior..I have always had seniors never paid that price..Going out of town so I really didn't have any other option..So she proceeded when done it was a very heavy solid blonde on bottom on top I had streaks...Yes I like demention when its throughout the hair..I really feel she should have known this would not look right..Again I am very disappointed.. I look at my reciept it says coler correction..This was not a color corection..I am so disappointed I dont have words..She trimmed my hair $60 wow..It looks brassy not like the picture we looked at..So very disappointed..It looks awful all I can do is cry..Again I feel I was just taken.Elle marie needs to do something to make this right... read more

Betty is amazing!!! I went in with dull, fading box color, lots of gray, split ends...it was just yuck! Betty knew exactly what my hair needed. She got all the box color off to get me back to my natural color then did a balayage that left me a shiny brunette with blonde ends. I'm in love with my color!! Then she did an awesome cut, got rid of all the dead weight using a razor- she's a genius with the razor, seriously. I'm so impressed! She was also super fun to chat with (this I knew, as I've known her since high school), which always makes a trip to the salon more fun. The salon itself is very nice, clean and friendly and you're offered beverages (wine anyone?!) upon arrival. This is my new salon and I love it! read more

Alyssa is a MIRACLE WORKER. i walked in for a color correction a couple months ago now, i had bright pink hair and asked her if there was any way i could go natural brown with caramel highlights and she did it AND MORE. I cannot thank her enough or have enough good things to say about everyone that works there and Alyssa. Ive now seen Alyssa for a second hair appointment and she continues to knock it out of the park. I am so in love with her work, and not to mention she's the nicest person, too!! About a month ago I called the mill creek location to schedule a perm. I was able to go in that same afternoon for a consultation with a stylist. She informed me that they didn't have any available appointments in the time frame I was looking for, so the receptionist set me up with an appointment in the Lynnwood location. They also told me they would be leaving extensive notes for the other stylist to know what type of hair I had. I show up to my scheduled appointment where the second stylist tells me the first stylist from the mill creek location gave her completely wrong notes. They stated my hair is above my shoulders, so when the second stylist realized my hair is way below my shoulders she told me she needed more time to actually do the perm for me. I told her it was fine we could reschedule. Then she tells me it would be best to get a hair cut before the perm so the curls would actually stay and not be too heavy. I agreed, and was charged $50 before tip for the haircut. I make an appointment for the following Sunday. Four days before my scheduled appointment, I get another call stating that I , again , need to come in so the actual stylist who is perming my hair can take a look. I say okay, show up to my appointment just for the stylist to tell me that getting a perm with my hair wouldn't be a good idea due to me recently using a box dye in the last year. At this point I was furious because I had talked to two "stylist " prior to the third and not one of them mentioned any of this to me. What was the point of two prior consultations ? What was the point of paying for a hair cut I didn't actually need ? How come not one of the two other "stylist" informed me of this new information? The whole experience was very unprofessional. Do not waste your money or time with Elle Marie Hair Studio. The worst communication between employees I have ever seen. If I could give 0 stars I really would. read more

Maggie absolutely took great care in reviving my hair from scraggly and limp to vibrant and healthy. I have had my hair bleached and/or colored since I was 16 from a plethora of stylists and never have I had anyone pay as close attention to my color and cut. I came in and gave Maggie full rein of how to fix my hair and she performed magnificently. I'm excited to continue getting touch-ups done here and eventually grow my hair long and strong under the professional guide of now well trusted hands. read more

Had an amazing visit! My hair turned out beautiful as well and I felt completely safe with all the guidelines. Everyone was wearing masks and social distancing, they had separators between hair washing stations and the the stylists stations were all spread out as well. I saw severely people sanitizing areas after use! Great service all around! read more

Update: the manger Hollie contacted me and sorted things out. I appreciated that a lot and comp time for another hair cut the next time I choose to come in. I think that's great. The hard part I'm having is that you can compensate for as many haircuts as you like but my hair is still a complete disaster:( and I am super upset about it until it grows out. :( If you are wanting to go to Elle Marie, see Whitney. I have been seeing her for years. She is amazing. This review is not any reflection of her. The only reason why I don't see her because she is only available the two days that I work. I highly recommend her My impression it Elle Marie has always been great until recently. In saying that, I recently went to go get a haircut with Tatiana on Friday February 17th. Her attitude towards me was despicable. She was unfriendly, made no effort to make any conversation and when she did it was insulting. She cut my hair as I asked. Which seemed to be okay until I asked her to thin it out ( something I have always done for years ) she advised me against it saying that it actually makes my hair thicker. Which I can respect her input because she went to school for this but I shouldn't have to argue how I want my hair after I said I wanted it that way. It's never seem to be a problem for me or any other stylist I've asked to do this. Then she didn't even bother to ask me how I wanted it styled. So I looked like I had a hair flip from the 1970's that was still damp on one side. I politely told her that and if she could blow dry it straight. Come the next day I showered and styled my hair and there's chunks of hair on my left side she didn't blend in. So rightfully so I'm upset. I called Elle Marie and they made it right by getting me in free of charge. I appreciated this however Tiffany the stylist didn't seem that empathic to why I was upset for the way my hair was. But if that was your hair you would equally be just as upset. I've been sitting in this feeling for a few days whether or not to write this review. So now I just feel like I have a rat tail and a bunch of short layers sitting on the top of my head thanks to Tatiana who just didn't seem to care to cut my hair correctly for whatever reason. read more

If yelp would allow me to give 0 stars, that's what I would have given. I have been visiting this location of Elle Marie ever since we moved to Bothell 3 years ago. But after my experience with hair stylist Amy today, I do not think I'd ever go back to this place. I grew my hair for over a year, getting it trimmed and maintained regularly for a donation to one of the children's charity organizations for cancer. I make an appointment today with Amy to finally get it cut for the donation. I walk in and talk to her about it, providing her with all the details. Organization - Locks of love, Length needed - 10 inches of hair and hair needs to washed and dried. Amy gets a tape and measures my hair and we agree that after cutting 10 inches, my hair would be below my collar bone and that's where I wanted it. She tries to cut my hair without washing it, when I remind her that it needs to be washed and dried. She remarks that it's going to take more time and then washes my hair. She tries to then cut my wet hair for the donation, when I again have to remind her that the hair needs to be dry. She agrees and then partially dries the ends and then proceeds to cut the hair. When I tell her the hair isn't totally dry, she asks me to dry it next to a heater at home. (This should have been my cue to end the appointment and ask for another hair stylist) She then cuts one section of my hair right above my shoulder level at which point I'm shocked and tell her, she had to cut only 10 inches which would be just below the collar bone. I get her to measure the length of hair she cut and it's 13 inches. She apologizes and I ask her to be very careful for the next sections. Next to my utter shock and horror, she cuts my hair to my neck level in the back. This time it's 14.5 inches. I immediately ask her to stop touching my hair and wanted to know what part of "I need you to cut 10 inches of my hair" was not clear. She again says a sorry and then says "most charities say a min of 10 inches, now you can donate more hair". I couldn't believe what I had just heard - her audacity to even say such a thing was beyond me. At this point I lose it and yell at her. Tears roll down my face looking at the state of my hair. The receptionist, who also happens to be the mgr came over to find out the issue and repeatedly apologized for the mishap. She then brought in another stylist Jillian to "fix" my hair. Jillian tried her best to salvage the situation, but the end result was a hair cut with hair on my right side longer than hair on my left side and me walking out with tears, feeling depressed about the entire appointment. read more

This was only the second time I've gotten my hair done professionally and I don't plan on going anywhere else!! From start to finish I got excellent customer service, and my stylist (Alyssa) put so much effort into making sure I got what I wanted. These stylists clearly know what they are doing and are friendly and fun to talk to. The services are a little pricey so be prepared but you will definitely get what you pay for!! read more

Holly did my hair cut in the month of July. I have black thick hair. She did an amazing job with my hair. My husband couldn't stop praising my haircut for weeks:-). I had many friends who asked me about the same. I definitely refer this salon to everyone. I had some bad experiences in the past with some other well known salons. I was really nervous when I stepped in to this one but was really happy when she was done with the cut. Like the service and atmosphere of the salon. Jillian is absolutely AMAZING! I have been seeing her for many years and I followed her from Gene Juarez to Elle Marie. I love Elle Marie salon. It is so cozy and comfortable--not at all pretentious, just warm and welcoming. I can't say enough good things about Jillian. She did my hair for my wedding. She spent a long time planning it out and creating custom hair pieces for me. More recently, I decided to chop off my very long hair. For many women, this can be a traumatic experience. Not with Jillian! She cut my hair into an ADORABLE pixie cut and added blonde highlights to give me a sassy, stylish look. She held my hand through the whole styling process. She even called me the next day to make sure I wasn't freaking out about the loss of my long hair. Beautiful hair is truly Jillian's passion. She is they only stylist I've ever had that I completely trust. Most of the time I just plop myself down in her chair and tell her to make me beautiful without any guidelines or restrictions from me. I have only myself to blame because this is the third time I've had a bad experience in this place due to the confrontational staff. First of all 3 different stylist and neither knows the difference between waves and curls. Third time is the charm, I will not go back. I wanted to get a second update as I thought this update was even more important. So I got another set of the beaded hair extensions with the same hair shop brand as Elle Marie Hair studio, only from a completely different hair dresser and company. ZERO have fallen out after a month... and also this is WITH using oil shampoo and conditioner that my hair stylist gave me AND leave in conditioner to spray on my hair EVERY DAY.... At Elle Marie Hair studio they were saying no oil shampoo and conditioner only on the ends and no leave in conditioners or oil based products in the hair. I am CONVINCED now that zero have fallen out with the same brand and same method that they do NOT know how to apply these correctly and now I have proof. This whole time the salon has been blaming my hair extensions falling out from the shampoo and conditioner I was using (even though I changed products that had zero oil in it and it dried out my hair). But this was FALSE. I am using oil based shampoo and conditioners now ON TOP OF leave in conditioners and NONE have fallen out. I felt this was really important to get out there because they do NOT know how to apply hair extensions correctly (well at least the stylist I went to) so I wasted a CRAP ton of money for their mistake when they were trying to blame me. And even though they said they would put in the ones that fell out back in... that wouldn't have done anything because the other ones kept falling out as well. So they would have had to redo the entire process over. DO NOT COME TO THIS SALON unless you want to WASTE your money like I did. read more

I have been to Elle Marie twice and I am just so in love with this salon! I have been seeing Betty and she is fantastic, so easy to talk to and so caring. Yesterday I walked in wanting a completely different look from the beautiful red hair she gave me the visit before. She rearranged her schedule for me and gave me the most amazing brown to blonde ombré hair, I'm convinved she can do anything!! I think the greatest part about this salon is that all the stylists seem to be friends and learn from each other, so really you get a huge collective stylist brain working to give you the best hair possible! I have to say, I'm very happy I have found this place! I went in originally for a color correction. My original color came from a high end, snobby salon in Downtown Seattle and was totally wrong. I came across this business at the Mill Creek street fair. They did an awesome quick braid on for my daughter, it was a business promotional event. We got a card to follow up when my daughter needed a hair cut. Fast forward a few weeks, my daughter wants a hair cut and Elle Marie Hair Studio came to mind. To my disappointment this particular hair salon does not offer different pricing for kids and adults. Other salons charge half of the regular adult price for kids. While they did an awesome job with the braid, the different in costs are just to much. read more

Not only is the vibe there exceptional, but the decor is tasteful and the people are friendly and relaxed. I have been to many salons Downtown, Bellevue and Kirkland and living in Mays Pond, I decided to just try Elle Marie for a change. I am so glad I did. I recently moved to Mill Creek, AND the fact that my hair stylist of many years moved out of state, I was forced to find a new stylist. Prior to that, I had been hugely disappointed over the years with various cuts and colors. After checking Yelp, then heading over to the E.M. Website (which is great by the way; was able to read stylist bios to determine who would best fit my style/needs) decided to make an appt with Marissa. Fabulous! First, the receptionists are extremely professional and friendly. They even make reminder calls, which I thought was a nice touch. Anyhow, Marissa is extremely nice, relaxed, and definitely knows what she's doing (not to mention too cute!). She gave me the perfect cut (long layers). When I went back for color, she blew me away. I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted, but had a general idea. She went over my options. When I made my decision, she went to work and I am so, so happy with the results. Let me tell you, after my appt, I stopped at the grocery store and received two compliments. When I got home, my hubby could not stop raving about my hair. He said that it was the best color I've ever had, even better than what my previous stylist had done! I am so happy here with the location, prices, the staff, and most of all, Marissa. Thank you! Nice change of pace for me, I had dropped by after work one day taking my chances without a appointment for a must needed cut after not having a trim for almost 9 months! Elle Marie Salon has very homey feeling and all the girls are so nice and courteous! I used to go to high end salons like Seven and Gene Juarez but I finally found a place with the same level of expertise at a fraction of the price! I called last Thursday, and set up an appointment for a cut and color for Sunday at 10 a.m. I walked in a few minutes early, and checked in for my appointment as arranged. At 10:10, I finally was told that "there was a communication error" (after being told that my stylist was in the back, and would be notified that I was there). Suddenly she was "sick" and "not there" and the only time they could offer was "later in the week". Very unprofessional, bordering on flat out rude. I went to Elle Marie Hair Studio due to a Friend's referral. Because her hairdresser was busy, I ended up having my highlights and hair cut done by Erica, and I don't regret it. She did a great job! She is such a sweetheart, very professional, very pleasant, makes you feel very comfortable. And I love the shampoo, conditioning, and serum that she recommended and I bought called "very smooth from Pureology". I have alopecia, so I called ahead to make sure I'd get someone who had the skill, training, and compassion to deal with someone who wanted their mess of hair shaved off and wanted bangs trimmed on two wigs. Ask for Noah! I've had Noah cut my hair for the past two years and I have never been disappointed. Everyone in the salon is courteous and on time. Salon is very clean and professional. Parking is good, but if you are coming on the bothell everett highway southbound you cannot make a left into the parking lot if you are in a hurry you have to make a left onto the street at the casino and go up and make a u turn. Ask for Susan (at the Bothell location)! She is an expert stylist, hair extension technician, and colorist. I have been going to her for nearly a decade and have loved what she's done with my hair every time. Because I trust her suggestions for a new style or color, Susan has given me the confidence to try new looks and it's fun to change things up knowing you'll walk away with a great new style. My current hair color of red, combined with two shades of red/strawberry blonde extensions, looks so natural and full that even my own friends can't tell my "real hair" from the extensions. I love how Susan stays on top of the field with training. In addition to giving me a current look, this knowledge saves me money--a new hair extension product she recently suggested has cut my cost in half with the same great results. Susan is simply the best on the Eastside. Plus she is down-to-earth, and a genuinely nice person to be around. My time in the chair just flies by because we talk like two old friends catching up--which I guess we are by now! read more
