I don't know how I haven't rated y'all yet. These guys are pure amazing. The work they've done and conditions they've found on my animals is beyond belief. They've tapped my cat's chest to stabilize her until she could get to a higher level of care where they would have a kitty cat cardiologist. They fixed up Maverick after he impaled himself in the backyard, still don't know how. Cocoa is the crazy one, she came in with a slight mouth bleed from chewing a toy that wouldn't stop and they found that she had an autoimmune disease causing her to attack and kill every last platelet she had. We are frequent flyers there because Cocoa needs her platelets checked constantly and her medication dose adjusted and they treat her so well. That dog gets so many cuddles there she actually loves going to get her blood drawn. Its her favorite place! She even got a free toy at yesterday's blood draw! read more

The staff was so sweet. I didn't have access to my carrier for my cat Moonshine and they were concerned about her safety so they put us in a room where she'd be safe from other animals. Dr. McMullen and Alexis were both so good with Moonshine, who's normally a very anxious cat, and they addressed all of my concerns. They were very thorough with their examination and took such good care of her. This is the only vet I will bring my cat to from now on. read more

instead of offering me a liquid antibiotic for my cat, they were going to give an injection that was pricey.I had to stop them from doing that and ask about liquid. My puppy had diarrhea overnight, i was going out of town that morning. I collected a stool sample prepared to drop off at this vet. At 8:00 i called to let them know what i planned and was told that instead of running the stool sample to see if she needed antibiotics and then see the puppy, they would not run the stool sample unless they examined the dog. This was a puppy who liked to eat things she found outside. i was going out of town for the day. i was unable to take time for a visit. As it turned out, puppy had no more diarrhea. In the "good old days ", i could drop off a stool specimen, they would check it and see if the animal needed antibiotics. They have lost my business, looking for a new vet! read more

My dog hurt his leg. I needed a vet that was available the same day. He usually goes to the humane society for shots. They fit him in within a couple hours. The vet and staff were amazing. I am now questioning their business practices. They required a fecal sample and told me after my boxer did his business. They literally found a bag of warm pooh and asked if that it was his. I said I was not sure but that looks like it. Purple warm bad of pooh. What bither me is they said he had hook worms but when my wife took our pom they said it was a negative result from an anal swap. Top top it off on the way out the doc said he seen fleas on the boxer. I went home and soak bathed him and flea shampoo'd his body. Not a single flea. At 60 and someone who sleeps with my boxer you would think I would have noticed bites. This is our last time there. The preventive meds cost us a lot. I wanted to update my review to give SERIOUS kudos to Ellenton Animal Hospital. Our 9 year old Dobe, Jada, has had many trips here within the last 6 months. In October, Jada had 2 large lumps removed along with two teeth pulled. The vet was AWESOME. Seriously. So helpful, nice, caring.. the techs too. The entire experience could have easily been too much to bear but Ellenton Animal Hospital made it easy. Even the follow up.. our vet had stopped in briefly on her day off and we happened to see her. She knew Jada by name and stopped to pet her and say hi. I believe even on her days off she called to check on us. We were just diagnosed with Diabetic Ketoacidosis last week. Devastating. Seriously. I was an absolute mess but Ellenton Animal Hospital helped ease the fears. We had some discrepancies with the bills and they were VERY accommodating. Dr. Zach Pearl is an angel. I cannot say this enough - he TRULY loves his job. He has always answered my calls when I've had questions. He gave me his email so I could talk with him after hours and he ALWAYS promptly replies. My little morkie was limping and favoring her left hind leg, and we needed a vet to look at her STAT! Ellenton Animal Hospital was there when we needed them. 1st, they were super booked up for a Saturday, but they made time to see Uli (our morkie), and told us it might be a wait but we'll squeeze her in. They told us to come by around 10:15, and we only needed to wait 15-20 minutes to be seen. The doctor was kind and checked her thoroughly for breaks / ligament injuries, and was patient even when our puppy peed from m nervousness. Uli was ultimately fine, just experiencing patella issues (a common problem with toy pet breeds, apparently). She assured us she was gonna go to be ok, and we were on our way. Brought my cat in as she kept urinating on my carpet. Staff were great although I was confused when it came to the check out procedure. The vet while nice I believe ordered a bunch of unnecessary tests. I agreed but I found out after the fact the only thing they needed to do was a urine test and they would have determined she had a urinary track infection. I paid for blood work and X-rays, medication, it cost me more than $400. Like I said I agreed to pay for whatever was needed but felt like I was ripped off in the process as all of this wasn't necessary. read more

My small fur baby Kiki has a terrible habit of eating clothing especially socks so when she completely stoped eating i contacted ellenton animal hospital and they we able to get her in immediately.. we were hoping she would pass whatever she had eaten however that wasn't the case she continued to get worse and ultimately needed surgery to remove the foreign object.. i felt the whole team were actually concerned for my keeks and welcomed her and made her feel extra comfortable as well as working with me on testing hospitalization and surgery costs we are about 7 days out from surgery and my kiki girl is already getting back to her crazy self and i couldn't be more happy thank you to both doctors all vet techs and staff for taking such good care of my babe will defiantly recommend read more

My pets have been patients at this office since we moved to the area 17 years ago, so needless to say I TRUSTED them. On Friday Sept 25th at 10 am, I brought my two 5 month old Shi Tzu puppies to this office to be weighed for their flea meds and also for a Sanitary Clip. When I got them home and into the house they proceeded to cry and yelp in what I now know was extreme discomfort and pain. I called this office to let them know something was wrong and I was told they just needed a little extra "TLC". No follow up call to see if they were ok....NOTHING! The doctor at the Emergency Vet didn't quite agree!! Whoever performed that clip was either inexperienced or not paying attention to what they were doing and used a blade that was way to short and harmed my animals very badly. They have a severe razor burn. Their bottoms are red and raw and because of the actions of this office, these poor animals have been suffering and it is completely their fault. I thought they were supposed to HEAL not HARM! It was careless and unacceptable. If you would like to see the videos of their behavior or maybe pictures of the damage they've have done I'd be happy to show you. Not to mention the cost of having to bring them to the ER. This has been a very upsetting and stressful few days for us but not nearly as bad as it has been for these two puppies! I emailed the office on Monday the 28th and so far ZERO response. They won't even acknowledge that it happened let alone, maybe, I don't know APOLOGIZE?!? Nothing but radio silence! It is now Tuesday Sept 29th and they are still very uncomfortable. It's heartbreaking to see them this way. They don't eat or play and can't sleep. Beware this office doesn't keep pets over night. Why is that important? Because they will send you out with your pet without making sure pet is better. For example. Another vet kept my cat 3 days of care and charged $1000. This place charged $1000 for 3 hours work and problem wasn't fixed. So I bring cat back 2 days later bec no change and they hit me up for another $750. So you ask why would I go back to them? Bec my pet insurance says I need to stick w one doctor for visit. Ugggh. Our emergency fund insurance forces us to stick with these maniacs. There are way cheaper alternatives out there. Use them. I should have added, they could care less about your pets. When the doctor was trying to justify me coming back every 2 days and throw down $800 for my car care and I asked if I'm supposed to keep doing that until everyone in office has a new car? Her response was, " oh so it's about the money!" How checked out of reality are these doctors that that was her thoughts. When you're raping people for thousands of dollars and you're cashing big bucks on the backs of poor people wanting their sick pet better of course thousands spent here and there mean nothing to the rich fat cat doctors. So I said it's not the money, it's money spent to get nothing done?!!!! So beware, they send a text after your visit and ask "how was their service." If you reply negative, like I did, this is what you will get... an email showed up right after saying, "we aren't going to care for that pet nor are we going to care for any other pets and don't ever come back and don't call and don't look our way." Something to that effect. Basically saying we hate you and your pets. Like I said real pet lovers! Gets better. A nurse who had sympathy for us told us that our cat needed to keep taking the medicine they gave us and when it runs out, we need to come back and get more. That was part of the $1800 we spent there was knowing we needed to keep up this medicine. My wife, not understanding how petty this place really was, did call for a refill on that medicine. They told her to get lost. Issue is part of that $1800 they raped us for meant they were under obligation to continue care that we paid for which included medicine refills. But to this place, "screw your pets and who cares if you don't get the service you paid for." You know, they teach these doctors to stick a thermometer up your pets rear but not to debate. At one point we brought in the bill and care we had for the cat 2 years ago at another vet for same issue. This place wanted the records but the place wasn't answering call. Anyway, the doctor thinking they had evidence to crack this case wide open looked at the paperwork and said "ah ha. This cat was kept for three days." I said "yes and it was only a $1000 for those three days and he was back to health and you've had him twice for about 6 hours for about double that cost." Math must not have been her strong suit. Then she said, "ah ha. This says the cat still had feces inside him." I said, "yes but they said the cat was pooing normal and what was inside was from what he was eating. As long as the cat eats there will "always" be feces in the cat." Duh. Then for the finale she tried to turn a negative into a positive. She said," well we don't keep pets overnight." In some 'got you now' tone. I said, " well that's bad. We took cat home Friday, it sat in a corner all weekend sick and come Monday we brought it back. Had you kept cat overnight you could have made sure he was better before you threw him back at us. And worse part was, when we come back over weekend for problem you never fixed, you charge us all over like it's a new issue." So she says, "well no we didn't treat it like new case bec we didn't do blood work again." I asked what did that save me from the $1000 you charge. It was only $200. She was a real humanitarian. Amazing how she can morally take hundreds of dollars in this bad economy and show no results and treat me like I was the culprit. read more

I left Ellenton Animal Hospital since after a full year, they still will not let the pet owner come into the clinic with their pet. How can you know exactly what happened if you can't be there? What is your pet is afraid to go into the vet and will be more upset if is taken in by a stranger without their owner to make them feel safe? I found a vet who does let pet owners come in and I'm happy as I think it was wrong of Ellenton Animal Hospital to still have that strict policy when so much more has been learned about Covid. read more

This review is about the excellent staff at Leo's & Luckys a full service Pet store they're very nice girls. Amanda has groomed my two small dogs for 4 years Parker a multi Pooh puppy. Amanda removes their out harnesses before bathing Parker who has wiggled out of both. On June 8th Amanda pointed out a contusion caused by the too tight harness rubbing. She told said take him to Ellenton Animal Hospital. Dr Dana sold Ellenton Animal Hospital to the thieves who will run their business into to ground. The were rude to me after spending $1300 there on June 8, for shots and medicine it was like talking with car salesmen in a hurry to treat Parker for $1500 minutes later I removed harness and went home to clean his cut up with Peroxide. Ellenton Animal hospital reported me to Manatee Animal Service who sent three officers and the Manatee County Animal Services Field Officer Steve Bell a gentleman who later came by to have me sign a release to allow the agency to treat Parker. WRONG he lied the fine print said I surrendered Parker to Manatee County Animal Services. I'm 72 vision and hearing impaired unaware of the scam. They might beat me up again like before I don't think arguing with Ellenton Animal Hospital tattooed girls Manatee Animal Services Florida local attorneys or Manatee County Sheriffs Deputies the are other groomers and veterinarians here I'll give them my business from now on. They responded immediately to my inquiry, were flexible with getting me scheduled, and they were great when we visited. Overall, we had a great experience. I have use the services of EAH since 2004 when Dr. Walstad was THE Veterinarian. Dr. Dana was outstanding! Then Dr. Suzanne was hired and eventually purchased the hospital. Dr. Suzanne was also an excellent Veterinarian. My last couple of visits since 2020 have been less then satisfactory because I have not been able to see "my" Veterinarian. I had to be satisfied with whoever was there. This was compounded by Covid-19 which also precluded my being able to go into the exam/hospital with my Collie. How am I supposed to give follow-up care at home if I can't observe the doctor who knows my Collie?? I want consistent care for my Service Animal! I don't want a "Hospitalist!!" I want someone who learns to know my Collie! Their staff have disappointed me EVERY time I have been there! I cannot in good faith recommend Ellenton Animal Hospital which has been bought out by a national company turning the dollars! read more

I have not had an issue of anything negative as of yet. They caught a diagnosis of my old beagle that I thought was an allergy issue which turned out to be CHF. That probably saved his life. Their diagnosis, thus far, appear honest and are not designed to simply sell you the most expensive treatment(s). They are good about their scheduling and always friendly. We have used Ellenton Animal Hospital for a couple of years now after having a terrible experience with another Vet in Parrish. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats. At some point we have met every Vet and absolutely adore Dr. Dana. He is so good with our animals and is a joy to be around. He is truthful and through in his assessments but handles difficult situations with grace and respect and allows you to process and ask questions. I've never felt rushed. He made a recommendation for a holistic approach for one of our senior dogs that seems to be working. The front desk is always friendly and ready to help! I love this place and we will always use EAH for all of our future needs. Oh, they recently remodeled the waiting area - nice job! Next time I'm in I'll take some pics to post. read more

There's no other way to put it, they killed my dog. Skye was about 8 years old, A border collie rescue I got from Manatee Animal Services. She had been used for puppy mill breeding and when she developed heartworm, they abandoned her on the street. But Skye was a great girl, she tolerated heartworm treatments and became heartworm negative and was in very good health. She was gentle, smart, well behaved and the best you could ever want. One day, she developed a kennel cough, we gave her cough suppressant and Benadryl as recommended and it subsided, but came back a week later. We brought her to the vet, the day before the 4th of July, who placed her on antibiotics and prednisone.Later that night Skye began to pant heavily. We called the on call vet, who happened to be the vet who prescribed the drugs. She seemed to be annoyed that we called and seemed to be preoccupied. She told us that it sounded like Skye was having a reaction to the prednisone and stop giving it to her and she should be fine. A short time later we found Skye dead. I agree with all the other negative reviews on this hospital, they are more concerned about getting their money rather than the well-being of the animals. The killed our Skye and I will never take our other two dogs there. They are murderers. read more

Great, caring, and professional vets office. After seeing my same vet in Oviedo since 1991, I was really apprehensive about switching. My boy is an 18 1/2 year old Australian Shepherd named Quinn. For the last year I have traveled with Quinn back to Central Florida to see his vet. Now due to his health, I am unable to. Upon calling, I was greeted by Kelly. She made me feel like she understood...you could just tell not only does she care, but so does the whole office. My first visit was with Dr. Walstad. We started going to Ellenton Animal Hospital about 3 years ago after just moving to the area. I can't compliment the staff and doctors enough. They take their time with you and your pet to make sure they are giving them the best treatment for their needs. We had three very old dogs that we knew did not have much more time left in their lives and the care the doctor and staff gave us on their final days warmed our heart and helped us during a very difficult time. It makes you feel good when staff and doctors know you and your dog when you visit. We have an English Bulldog, Bella that is now almost two. Some of the staff have known her from her first visit there as a baby and stop for a moment when I am there to give her special attention. In my opinion, you could not find a better place to take your furry child. Dr. Sullivan and the other doctors and staff are far better than any others around Bradenton, Palmetto and the Sarasota area. read more

We are relatively new to Ellenton (1 year) and have been looking for a new Veterinarian for our two dogs and two cats. Our cat has developed skin irritations that began in October. I called the day before Thanksgiving and left a message and after not receiving a return call, I emailed clinic the following Saturday. Well, never got a returned call. So my wife went into clinic today and just came home rather upset, as she came to make an appointment and received no attention what so ever. Appears as if receptionist would prefer to chit chat with Techs rather than acknowledge potential new client.
