Absolutely great experience! Service was excellent, and the interior--especially the windowed rotunda where we sat--was lovely. My daughters really enjoyed the crepe dish and bean salad to start. I had the beet carpaccio, which was nice. For mains, the skate with celery root purée was well-balanced, and the scallops with grits were delicious. The food was delicious, we split several appetizers and were celebrating a birthday. We had an amazing server named Lety. We split several bottles of the featured pinot grigio (Van Duzer) - yum! I can't emphasize enough how great the Mussels appetizer is (limited time so call ahead! Get extra bread. The glazed carrots were really good, my friend loved her Gluten Free Risotto and my other friend licked the plate clean (not really) with the lamb. This is hands down the best bread pudding I have ever had! The redfish was smooth and tasty but I didn't have enough room to eat my potatoes snd took them to-go. My friends both complemented the beet salad appetizer but I was too focused on the crab coquette and mussels. Service was amazing with water being refilled often and many tables were drinking wine and on anniversary dinners & date nights! Ambience is a perfectly lit cottage turned into a restaurant. This was our second time dining at Ellerbe's. Our first time was one of the best dining experiences my wife and I have had. The combination of excellent service and amazing food made us want to return. So, our second dining experience was for my birthday in early February. Unfortunately, this second time left us disappointed. As expected, the food was excellent. However, the service was not to the standard we expected. Our server was very friendly but, her time management and attention to detail was lacking For example, she left our daughter without a drink for her entire entree then, took another 5 minutes to bring a soda. Last time I dined at ellerbe was last year and we had a great meal. This is regarding a private event I hosted. From the beginning to the end of the process I was left underwhelmed by the "event coordinator." She was hard to get ahold of, had no attention to detail, and didn't seem appreciative of the business we were giving. I was promised things that weren't delivered and by the time it was time to make decisions, it was too late for me to even care. She didn't even send a follow up email thanking me for my business. Funny enough, we were hosting a shower the next day in Dallas at a small "hole in the wall" place and they could not have been nicer or easier to deal with. In terms of food, it was ok. Always a great experience at Ellerbe's! Comfortable upscale farm to table fine dining experience in an intimate setting. Bri was our waitress and she killed it! She explained the menu thoroughly giving the origin, connection to the restaurant/chef, preparation, and their intention for the dining experience. We ordered a few starters to share AND WE LOVED ALL OF IT - SERIOUSLY, ALL PLATES WERE CLEANED Artisan Cheese Plate - good for 2 but could be for more if sharing more starters Beet Salad - so light & fresh! Plump beets atop a delicious herbed chevre with crisp carrots & greens lightly drizzled with a sunflower vinaigrette. I'm not big on beets but this was such a tasty dish. Citrus Poached Gulf Coast Shrimp & Potato salad - don't pass this up if you like shrimp and a light take on potato salad. Such a unique treat. Fried green tomatoes (off menu item) - 3 slices came on the plate. They Were perfectly breaded & served with a mild crab spread on top. Soooo good and not like any fried green tomato I have ever had! They also serve a small plate of bread with a fresh whipped butter topped with some sprinkles of sea salt. For my meal I devoured the Louisiana Redfish. It was a beautiful piece of fish placed on top of a thin layer of a heavenly wild rice corn chowder with a couple of fresh greens and light drizzle of a spicy sauce that gave the dish a nice level of heat in some bites. Other Main dishes at the table also raved about by the others were the roasted loin of rabbit and grilled steak. They also have a dessert menu. I got a MawMaw's Bread pudding to-go and it was a sweet late night treat to share but could have also gone nicely with a cup of coffee for breakfast! They brought us complimentary tiny shortbread cookies with our check which is another soecial touch. Valet parking available for the restaurant. Went for the Taste of France. We were stuck out on the very hot porch and given a not very good server. Kept pushing our food at us even while we were having our $20 dollar each cocktails Continually made off color trans gender jokes which we did not appreciate. Had to ask for water several times. But you can count on absolutely divine sauces and vegetables prepared beautifully. I will say that if duck and dumplings ever appear again on the menu, it is a MUST. Road trip to DFW this weekend and for our big night out we chose Ellerbe based on its great reviews and the credentials of its chef. It's a lovely little space in a hot part of Fort Worth. Free valet. We were welcomed warmly upon arrival and seated immediately. Our waiter was, to put it mildly, very energetic. Everything was explained in detail -- many of the dishes (what was new, what was not) including how the preparations had changed in recent weeks. We explained we'd never been here before, but still we heard how the pork chop used to have a different side, and now it had brussels sprouts and dirty rice. He even explained how the butter served with the bread had a higher fat content so it was creamier than we might expect. OK... at some point, there's such a thing as too much information. Cocktails -- which are new to the restaurant -- were solid. When we moved on to wine, I asked for a taste of the barbera, which is served by the glass, because we were considering buying a bottle. No can do, I was told -- I can bring you a glass but not a taste. That was probably a first for me at a fine dining establishment, where most are happy to bring out multiple tastes to ensure you are getting what you want. Eyes rolling, I ordered the glass -- which turned out to be fine. We shared the green salad -- perfectly fine -- and our entrees were hurried out a few minutes after the plate was cleared. Red fish was outstanding -- a thick fillet off the bone, though the sides of half a potato and a chunk of corn on the cob were uninspired. Picking up an ear of corn to gnaw on it is not my idea of five-star dining. But the pork chop is where things fell apart. It's a huge hunk of meat, served medium (we were warned on that front), but tough on one side, stringy on the other. The bed of rice and sprouts it was served on was cold. Not "room temperature" but literally cold, which is just plain wrong. We hated to do it, but we sent the dish back with that comment. It was returned with "fresh rice and sprouts," but the same chop on top, by a different waiter. A bit warmer, but still not really up to an ideal temperature -- and I've never had "dirty rice" like this... which turned out to really be just undercooked wild rice. That second server checked again to ask if it was "more appropriate" and while really it wasn't, we let it go. We ate about half of it before giving up. No one inquired as to why the fish plate (sans the corn) had been devoured but the pork had basically been ignored. Our server went through a 3 minute monologue about the various desserts, for which they are known, but we made up our mind to cut losses at this point and move on from there. I was left wondering as we left, however: For a restaurant that makes a big deal of sourcing all of its ingredients within 100 miles of the restaurant, how is it they have Alaskan halibut (or any saltwater fish) on the menu? read more

I booked this restaurant 3 weeks prior to Valentine's Day 2025 no issues. Was really looking forward to taking my wife to a nice dinner. I was called 1 week till Valentine's Day and advised that I would be required to put my card on file and pay a minimum of 120 per person for a limited menu in order to keep my reservation. Ellerbe if you can't be proactive on one of the busiest days and let your customers know when they book of your stipulations then you need to go out of business. This is basic, and you don't deserve to serve the Fort Worth community. Karma is coming your way. Do better and plan for the future next time. read more

The ambiance and service experience were great. The food was underwhelming for what we paid for it, however. The crab claws had great flavor but were bland due to lack of salt. The gumbo was also lacking in flavor all around. On the contrary, we added the bbq shrimp on to our steak and it was so salty it overpowered the shrimp, sauce, arugula, and steak itself. There was opportunity for a good meal but a great imbalance in salt and flavor. We left feeling like the food was a 6/10 at best. It was smaller portion than any she's eaten before. Once she got the skin off it was about four bites of redfish. My Portions were small which works for me, a petite female, but guys might feel ripped off. I had the WILD Alaskan halibut. I the fact that they have a wild caught option. I ordered the "baseball" steak, which I'm not sure I have ever had before. I ordered medium rare, and they cooked it perfectly! My salad and our dessert was yummy! The only complaint I have was the Brussel sprouts. The menu said crispy, but they were very chewy. This was certainly nothing to dampen the great evening though. My favorite restaurant in all of Fort Worth. The staff are all super friendly, the food is always delicious, and farm to table recipes grace the menu on a seasonal rotation. Start with some wine. There are so many good options to choose from. Robert Foley makes an annual appearance at their wine dinner, but his masters touch can be experienced year round with a generous selection of his wines always in stock. The freshness of all the ingredients is obvious as vegetables crisply explode across your taste buds and perfectly cooked meats make your mouth water even minutes after you've cleaned your plate. I love this restaurant. Our love our servers, the atmosphere and the food is excellent and fresh. The menu is always changing with some of their favorites still present. We love their succinct wine list. While I understand they are doing their jobs to ask for masks, it is not "normal" to get a thermometer directed at your forehead without notice. We go to restaurants all the time and besides one lunch place, we never have to have our temps checked. In the least, ask before you shoot something at the middle of someone's head. Went to sit in the new patio and see what was new after seeing the chef got a james beard nomination. The walls were partially open and the weather was great. Such a cool space. Table had the duck confit, the boar schnitzel, the bacon wrapped trout and the redfish & dirty rice. We started with the a couple crispy oyster salads and some of the tomato bread. Everything was so damn good. The duck was so good, but I've had those a half dozen times over the years, so it's a can't miss for me. The chef does new variations almost every time I see it on the menu, but it's usually crispy skin, some type of citrus and a north African or eastern European spice blend. The spaetzle and the boar schnitzel were new for us and my god it was good. Richard the owner/mgr paired our dinner with a switchback ridge blend that was legit. We've never had a bad experience at Ellerbe. Knowing where everything on the menu comes from & that they pay so close attention to their suppliers & farmers makes you feel like you're getting what you pay for. It's not cheap but it's so worth it. Too many restaurants just assume diners don't care about the quality of the food - not Ellerbe. It's obvious they're in this with you, caring about your experience. I consider myself a regular since we go a couple times a year, but with the new patio and the new bar (and the sunday dinners!), I'll be going up there a lot more often. So disappointed in the quality of food we had for dinner....One of my daughters ordered the tofu steak and it was very bland and literally only had 4 pieces of okra with it. ALL the sides were soooo small! My other daughter ordered pork chop with Brussels sprouts that were supposed to be crispy but the 4 pieces were barely cooked and the dirty rice was swimming in water, unflavored and still hard! Someone in kitchen is horrible at quality control. Way too pricey for the amount of food served and we all left still hungry .
