I kicked myself since last night but wanted to take out my mom for Mother's Day lunch. We got there and it was crowded, but went to the front desk to get a table (parking lot was full, but had allot of space, btw) - surprisingly, they said give us 5-10 minutes, and yes it won't take long. WOW! To make a long story short, we got seated, our drinks, and orders taken, and after 15 minutes, our food was hot and piping and fresh. And it was tasty - my steak quesadillas and my mom got a house Cobb salad. Both were tasty and looked great. Our server Miriam was awesome with our orders, she came by to check on us and not too many times, and was there to help us with leftovers and leaving stuff. She struck a nice balance of not being there vs being here too often, so that's Ace's in my book. Since it was Mother's Day, it's crowded and a bit loud but not too loud where it was too obnoxious, except for a few people who had no manners at all on dress, but that's another topic I won't go to, for now. Tables, plates and silverware were clean, and one can still get around, even with one table behind us with a handicapped person, it didn't crowd up much at all - it was all very reasonably spacious. Definitely will come back here, though I do miss that older lady who was our server the last time before today, who was very nice - had a bit of an attitude to her personality but not too much to make it tasteless, some sass makes for an interesting day. I continue to go to Elly's once every month or two. My mother is in an assisted living facility near this location. She loves going there, so we do every so often. They have an extensive menu. I can't remember a time where I was not satisfied with a meal there. Service is also always excellent. The food is consistently good. I do recommend Elly's if you haven't been to one of their locations before. Note that they are only open for breakfast and lunch. read more

Another excellent breakfast spot in Glenview Illinois! Went here twice, once for breakfast once for lunch and didn't disappoint. The place was busy both times but we didn't have a wait for a table. Service friendly and quick, portions huge! Breakfast I had eggs Benedict so good! Hashed browns could've been warmer but good. Came with a side of fruit. Lunch my sister and I shared a Blt that came with soup, homemade cream of chicken so good, Cole slaw and hot fries. We couldn't eat it all so took some home! More then enough to share! Went here for lunch recently. A nice place inside and out. Good service, especially on coffee refills. We ordered a patty melt without onions but it came loaded with onions. We also had a Rueben sandwich, which was ok. The manager did give us $ off for the patty melt mistake. read more

While running errands , we came across this place with a full parking lot & glad we came in. As a party of 4 we were seated within minutes. The portions for omelettes are huge and come with a side of pancakes or toast. The skillet is also a good size and made perfectly! We found Elly's thru Yelp years ago and have gone religiously to the Rosemont location every time we're in town. Exploring Northern Chicago this trip and saw this location was nearby. Equally amazing. Friendly service, great food. We got the Meaty Cheesy omelette and the traditional eggs and bacon with pancakes. Delicious. This location is huge with lots of parking. This was a breakfast stop heading out of town to get a nice road trip breakfast. It's fairly modern looking and nice but pretty empty at 7:50 on a Monday morning. My service was great but my server couldn't answer if the up charge for sourdough toast was bakery quality and not some commercial crap, the woman who took my payment comforted that all the breads are from a local bakery. I would go against my norm and order the ham breakfast with scrambled eggs that comes with hash browns and white toast. To my surprise I asked if the ham was ham off the bone and it was . The scrambled eggs were perfect, moist and fluffy. The hash browns were golden crispy and perfect. The white toast was obviously thick great quality bakery style and buttered nicely. The ham off the bone was thick cut, moist and delicious with a nice Smokey flavor. OMG this is a seriously good ham steak breakfast with a big portion. My final thoughts is that this is a great quality breakfast spot clearly beyond average serving a what breakfast should be, nice job because the hit it out of the park and just a great way to start a road trip. read more

Been coming here for years but will never return. My last visit was really disappointing. My veggie omelet was great until the middle of it was stuffed with an enormous amount of cheese. I do not enjoy a mouthful of cheese. I enjoy the veggies much more. Also I didn't get butter for my toast either. I received some sort of sweet white, unappetizing stuff that I couldn't eat. My partner had a skillet that used to be large & filling. This time it was much smaller and nothing like what they served before. Pancakes were a miss, pancakes were dark brown and overcooked. how does a place called a "pancake house" do that? we've had a similar issue with crepes there in the past. the cook definitely needs to lighten up on the length of cook time of pancakes and crepes- I'll give them credit for good prices, huge slices of ham and nice servers. We had lunch here on a weekday and were seated quickly. The menu did not feature my beloved Turkey Club, and I had to ask the waitress if they served them. She said they did and could make me one. I thought the menu was pretty slim for a breakfast/lunch spot, but apparently, you can request an item and they may be able to accommodate you. (I think I'd include all the options they have instead of assuming you are going to ask for something you don't see listed...) My wife had an omelette and she actually thought it was too cheesy! She pulled out globs of cheese with her knife. She also thought the ingredients tasted a little on the old side. We were on a tight schedule and let the waitress know, and she offered to settle up the bill while we ate, and made sure the food got to us pronto!! I would prefer to have a full menu instead of a sparse menu, but they provided what we wanted. I would consider coming back but I think my wife would not be so inclined. read more

Elly's is saving the traditional Greek diner. Ate with family. It was packed full of families in there. There's a little bit of everything on the menu. My nephew had a hot skillet. My sister had a mushroom Swiss omelette and my mother had a patty melt. I was in the mood for something savory so I had the country fried steak. Everyone enjoyed their dish. I liked mine very much. I've eaten here for quite a number of years and the renovation is a welcome improvement that makes this restaurant more enjoyable to dine at. Overall, the food is alright. We were in town for vacation and decided to stop at Elly's for breakfast because it looked like a diner with some good breakfast and we were correct. The diner had a good home feeling. First off the service was exceptional. Lacey was our server and she was so welcoming. Always had a smile and made us feel right at home. The pancakes and omelets were awesome. I had the Ole' and my wife had the meaty omelet. My kids had the Mickey Mouse pancakes and the s'mores pancakes and they loved them. I came here hungry after a morning of outdoor adventures at a nearby forest preserve. Despite the crowded parking lot, there was plenty of room in the restaurant and we were able to be seated quickly. We were greeted quickly by our server and given waters as soon as we sat down. I ordered the veggie omelet with hash browns and pancakes. The omelet was cooked to perfection although the cheese was not distributed evenly and was in one big glob at the center. The hash browns were a bit dry, but nothing that a little ketchup couldn't solve. The pancakes were fabulous, light and fluffy. Just how I like them. There was some creamer that had been opened by a previous guest that was attracting flies. The restaurant had an updated dinner feel to it. I ordered the ham and cheese omelette with hash browns. The food came out hot without a long wait, but also not rushed. The folded omelette was flavorful, but there wasn't anything specifically making it outstanding. The hash browns were the same, good but nothing outstanding. This is typical diner food. Came in on a Monday morning for brunch. It was very busy but got seated pretty quickly for two which was awesome! The inside is spacious and decorated nicely. I ordered the meat lovers skillet and upgraded my pancakes to s'mores. The skillet was tasty and definitely filled with tons of meat! The s'mores pancakes were good but too rich to eat the whole plate (if you have a super sweet tooth I'm sure you'll love it!). It is on the more expensive side for breakfast - our OJ was $6. Otherwise a great experience! They have two parking lots but it was so busy I had to circle a few times to wait for someone to leave to get parking. There is street parking though. read more

Elly's is a tradition in these parts and a chain born out of Chicagoland. They have five locations around IL and one out in Arizona. What's consistent is their brand and how it's served. Nothing like most diners. It seems this location had a recent renovation and it looks grand in here, hope the same goes for their other popular locations. Elly's does breakfast, lunch and a couple specialties. Eggs, pancakes, crepes, waffles, the typical round of sandwiches, salads and more. More could include chilaquiles and quesadillas stuffed with choice proteins and a salsa verde with kick! Pleasantly surprised that their Tex Mex was flavorful, definitely not a norm in the diner game. Took my folks to lunch the other day and we decided on a restaurant in the strip mall opposite of Elly's. At the time the lot was so full that it would require a lengthy walk to the restaurant. Decided to check out other spots down the street when we noticed Elly's. This location has two parking lots on opposite sides of the business with easy access to the main entrance. By the time we entered two of three were already "hangry" so we got a table and threw in a few orders on the fly. On a weekday afternoon the place was thriving. Service was attentive and the restaurant host was seen making rounds checking on customer satisfaction. We enjoyed soups, a shared plate of crepes and other delicious items. The folks gave the experience their thumbs up. **Being that it was just a few weeks back I tried their Jeff Park location and disliked the experience. I can't believe this shop has any relation to the other. The differences are many. If you've never been to Elly's, let this location be your first go. read more

My husband felt sick 30 mins after having an omelette there. Food poisoning! The owner is an absolute JERK!!! The food was burnt yet cold the ingredients tasted liked expired aldis with globs of goop on the food!! He was yelling and saying we were trying to get a free meal instead of being a professional business owner and actually taking ownership!!! Times must be tough for this cheap management if they are cheaping out on the ingredients, preparation, and overall customer service!!
