Very mid diner. It's good for those who work late as danbury has "school night hours" and everything is closed sometimes as early as 7pm. The food is mediocre at best, but when im craving a turkey sausage egg and cheese, its one of a very few places that fills that void. It's also the only restaurant thats open all 365 days. Service is okay, I never had any issues. I go maybe 1-2 times a month. read more

I feel like I have to give this 5 stars based on it was quite the meal after all the other places were closed. The menu is so ambitious and usually that doesn't work out. Maybe I got lucky but the dish I chose was ambitious and they hit it quite well. I ordered the Half Roast Chicken dinner. It came with a salad that was fresh and quite tasty with a balsamic dressing. The meal itself was quite amazing. The Chicken was delicious, it was accompanied by a delicious home made type stuffing, roasted potatoes, and veggies which in this case was some delicious Corn on the Cob as well as some Carrots. It really was a plate of comfort and hit the spot! Service was friendly and attentive. But the best part was a Chocolate Egg Cream drink! I ordered it after the meal as a sort of dessert. It was so tasty! I am not from this region and have never had one before and now I wonder how I made it this far in life without one! And for my 300th Yelp review....Elmer's. First of all, high props to Elmer's for 24/7 in this day and age, where eateries are reducing days and / or hours. Let's start w parking. Very small lot entered off of a very busy street by going down and around. Entrance and exit in the same spot. Very tight turn radius once you're in the lot, which is full during busy times. Difficult to turn around, and suicidal to back out. So you end w partial to total gridlock waiting for a spot to open. Extremely dangerous and a bit frustrating. Anyway, inside w my nephew-in-law. Seated in a booth quickly, menu proffered, drink orders taken. Somewhat crowded, but service very good. I had the Elmer's omelet (3 eggs, mozz, smoked turkey sausage, some veggies), w hash brown and toast. Artie had the Elmer burger w fries. My omelet was overcooked, the hash browns were a deep-fried greasy patty (like McDonald's). Coffee was excellent. Artie liked his burger which came in a tortilla w salsa. He didn't really touch his fries which looked like they had sat under a heat lamp for awhile. Overall, a bit unimpressive for me. 3 stars read more

this is absurd, I was expecting a beautiful breakfast with my wife. we order pancakes and a burger, the burger was undercooked and the fries were soggy, the pancakes were very cold and bland, come to find out that there was a hair. I will never come back to this establishment. read more

We got takeout on our trip down the highway. I got a strawberry chicken walnut salad. It was very large and tasty !

Elmers diner is one of the better diners in town . He serves up hot food quick and never misses . I only question the quality of his ingredients . Eggs seem to be watered down sometimes . I ordered the vegetarian omelette and it contained all the right ingredients . I could not figure out what oil they use to cook their omelettes in . Service is excellent the hospitality is great at the entrance , if it's not Elmer himself playing host . It appears like they should have an entrance for those coming in as you bulrush the door in trying to get out on weekends . Very noisy but coordinated as everyone is focused on their table and counter guest . Place is quiet during the week and sometimes even empty . That just means everyone is just trying to get home on that busy road . Parking is a challenge and dysfunctional. Parking is available across the street but , good luck trying to cross the street with cars doing 40 mph . I am a member of the Connecticut Chef's Association , member of the World Association of Cooks Society (WACS ) and inducted into the Le Emis Escoffier Society . It's NOT a 3 star Michelin Diner and the cost is ok for a diner , however he does have the opportunity to charge more for better ingredients. Not all eateries use top of the line ingredients - if they did the prices would be double ; so you get what you pay for . read more

A Solid diner in the Danbury area with friendly service, large menu, that serves food quickly and it was all good. We stopped in for dinner when in the area and everyone enjoyed their food! My husband especially enjoyed the complimentary pasta salad they gave at the start of our meal. One of my children was excited to see curly fries on the menu and had to get them. I was told the chicken tenders were great as was our Mediterranean wrap and tuna club sandwich. Their Cole slaw which I did not get a picture of was also very fresh and great. Was in the area for an appointment and needed breakfast! Such a cute little diner. Very clean and the staff was great! I created my own platter. I think the diner should add it to the menu and call it "Missys breakfast feast" . I had scrambled eggs, Canadian bacon, home fries with cheese and gravy, rye toast, and avocado. I paid about 17$ for it, and when I tell you it was worth it... it was so worth it. Everything was delicious! My favorite part was the home fries! My server was great. Can I start by admitting the past month we have been ordering in so much. Tonight was Diner food from Elmer's. Linguini Napatolena - this is a garlic lovers dream actual garlic you can taste. The melted cheese gives it that extra goodness. So I would not be eating all carbs I got a side of two meatballs and sauce. The meatballs - not good. The soup though - awesome. Nice matzo ball, nice pieces of chicken with onions and carrots chopped perfectly. Next time I will get a bowl of soup instead of a cup! @Elmer P - Everything was GREAT except the meatballs. We had a very delightful experience at Elmer's. Our server was Tai, who was extremely friendly and very welcoming. When I ordered my pastrami and eggs with fries, I asked Tai if they were the skinny fries or the fat fries. She smiled and told me, she'd bring me the fries, and if I didn't like them, she'd let me trade them for home fries. I thought that was a classy move. The fries and the breakfast were very tasty, so there was no need to swap it out. Great service, great food! You nailed it! We will return! read more

Great diner. I'm personally not a fan of diners because like Forrest Gump famously said You Never Know What You're Gonna Get! This one completely surpassed all m expectations. The waitress offered us a free sample of their pasta salad with 2 corn chips on top. It was an odd combo but tasted delicious together. I ordered a Rueben w/Corn Beef. This was the most tender corn beef I've ever had on a Rueben. Absolutely delicious. I added fries for $1.99 bc it only comes with slaw and a pickle. Hello, whenever we go to CT, we stop to eat at Elmer's. The staff is great, and so is the food (when there is consistency). We travel from the BX to do a little shopping and go to Elmer's. I just noticed that depending on whomever is cooking (Thursday or Friday's), the food can taste different depending on the week and the cook! We will continue going to Elmer's because of the staff and food, but maybe you can work on consistency so that the food comes out and tastes the same no matter who's cooking! Just a quick example: the seafood bisque soup is excellent one time. We then go again, and it's salty! Just try to work on that. We will be back soon! read more
