    "Egg in hole" Croque Madame
    Jeremy P.

My friend and I went here for the bottomless brunch. It wasn't very busy, but the service was very slow. They gave us carafes of the mimosa bellini and peach sangria. We would often run out before the server would come by and have to flag them. The servers seemed more interested in socializing with each other. We had the "egg in hole" croque madame and it was a bit dry. I would have liked the side salad to be dressed, but did like the cheddar crisps. The shakshuka was very bland, however the bread was crusty and nicely toasted with olive oil. The vibe here was not very exciting. There was no music playing when we initially got there. They did have a live band that started played latin music about an hour into brunch, but the band did not seem very happy to be there and were not friendly. It is a nice rooftop, but there are so many other ones in midtown that have a much better atmosphere and food.

Food: Only ordered drinks- they were well made! Cost: The drinks are definitely on the more expensive side for NYC. Although, it being a rooftop bar semi-justifies the price since you're paying not only for the drinks but for the view! Environment: The inside is very well decorated and the outside has some gorgeous views! Service: The drinks we ordered were made fairly quickly. Upon arrival we didn't RSVP so there were no tables available but were allowed to go over to the left side where there seemed to be some standing table which was more of a first come first serve type of deal. Uniqueness: Good rooftop bar- probably a great place for tourists for the whole rooftop bar NYC experience with the views! Glad I did try this place out for the experience nonetheless!

So appreciated this spot on the deck!

The Mother's Day Brunch appeared to be the same menu and options that are normally $45 but we paid $30 more pp=yikes. Upon arrival a spot on the outside was not available but the hostess did work to get us out there within about 20 minutes or so which we very much appreciated. Portions were small. Food was good although it took a while to come out. The carafes of bottomless mimosas were great. Liked the vibe. All the staff we encountered were all super nice and they didn't rush the 90 minute mark. Restrooms are like airplane size and one was out of order. Great little photo op downstairs upon arrival and outside of course. Would return.

First visit to NY and wanted to experience the city with a cocktail on a rooftop. We took a bench on the outside balcony, they weather was perfect. We ordered our drinks at the bar. Our drinks were small and tasted fine but didn't seem to have much alcohol in them. We stayed for one drink and looked at the near by buildings. We visited in the mid day and I'm sure the view would be better with the night lights.

Went for the belly dancing event. The food was ok. Service was very kind and belly dancing was cool and very good. The food was mediocre. The hummus was pretty good. The mushroom dish was only ok. They were too acidic. The tea with alcohol was an interesting idea but only tasted ok. I liked the concept though.

Stunning views and a relaxed, laid-back vibe with great lounge music make this a great spot to unwind. However, the drinks are definitely overpriced, and the cocktails didn't impress me.

Little pricey on the cocktail drinks, but the rooftop is quite nice! The apps were also excellent-- big fan of the salmon tartare! Wonderfully nice service who took a free photo of us! Cheers!

Great spot if you're looking for a private bougie area for an event. Spacious, attentive bartenders and lots of well made drinks. Great location, easy to get to. Drinks are on average $20, which is quite pricey. Bar food was okay, disappointing there were no fries on the menu.

came here to check out their Salsa nights on fridays! Absolutely a blast! had such a fun time, they got salsa class then a live band and dj all night, it's cool if you're looking for a latin night in the city and the location is right by times square

Yesterday was the warmest day in NYC in 2024 so far, so it was time for a rooftop moment! My friend and I walked in without a reservation. They have bar seating and some lounge seating, as well as outdoor bench-type seating for walk-ins. The bartender was so friendly and welcoming! I ordered the Victorian cocktail. It was perfection! You couldn't even taste the alcohol (and I saw him put a good amount in)! The passion fruit flavor was so refreshing and it is a perfect spring/summer cocktail! My friend had the sunset and not only was it pretty, but it was delicious as well! I would definitely come back here as rooftop season continues. The cocktails are definitely pricey ($19), but the vibes are there!

Cane here for Brunch on Sunday with my best friend visiting from Oklahoma. We LOOOOVE IT!! Nice and beautiful place, great amazing service, food and drinks upscale. We got bottomless drinks and Amy made sure we got everything, explained food perfectly, and she was on top making sure we got everything. I got the Smoked salmon board and just delightfully! My bud got the sliders and just on point! Got Bellinis and Mimosas. My bud got sangria. AMAZING place, AMAZING service, AMAZING food and drinks. Incredible served Amy.

I visited Elsie's with a group of friends on a beautiful, sunny Saturday for brunch. While we were a bit disappointed by the limited food options, we all found something to eat. One friend had the Huevos Rancheros, which she said was just alright. Another had the Impossible Burger, which she didn't like at all. One friend ordered the Belgian waffles and, despite only receiving a single waffle, found it to be really good. I had the truffle grilled cheese, which was superb--I was shocked by how delicious it was. The drinks were excellent, and the ambiance was beautiful. A rooftop on a sunny New York day is hard to beat. However, the service could have been better, as our server disappeared for long periods throughout the meal. Overall, I'm giving it 4 stars because the food isn't the main attraction here, but the atmosphere and drinks make it worth a visit.

Do they still have outdoor at night and are there heat lamps, etc to keep you warm?

Hi ! I was there a little over a month ago. The outdoor rooftop patio is covered and yes there are heat lamps. We were very comfortable with our coats off. Hope this helps.

Would you consider the environment a "Stuffy Crowd" type of people? A bunch of people taking themselves waay to serious?

Stuffy no, but bougie and pretentious yes.

    Is there a happy hour?

Hi there! There was a happy hour with some great deals. Would highly suggest it!

Is there a minimum if you make a reservation through Opentable?

There was no minimum in April 2021 when I went just with 2 people.

    Do they have dress code?

Smart casual. When I was there last week, I wore jeans and boots. Many in jeans, many more fancy (cocktail dresses etc)

Are under 21's allowed? Not for alcoholic drinks obviously.

Yes. I was there last week and there was a couple with a young child (maybe 6-8yo)

I was warmly greeted by the gentleman at the door (5 service there), which set a great first impression. However, as soon as I walked downstairs, it felt like the space had lost its speakeasy vibe. I was seated right near the stairs and could feel cold air from outside every time the door opened, which made the experience uncomfortable. I was also surprised to see how much the cocktail menu had been reduced. When I asked about it, the response was that "the place changed a lot." That's fair -- places evolve -- but instead of highlighting the improvements or new strengths, the explanation focused negatively on what the bar used to be. As someone who really enjoyed the former version, that wasn't reassuring. Unfortunately, the drinks themselves didn't make up for it. One of the two cocktails was simply not good. No one came back to check on the drinks, and when I asked for the check after about 20 minutes, there was no acknowledgment that I had barely touched mine or any inquiry about my experience. Overall, a place I once enjoyed and recommended now feels more like a standard dive bar where " Mixologist " were replaced by bartender and were fun cool looking and tasty drinks were replaced by " less complex cocktail ", lacking the warmth and attention to detail that once made it special.

Easy to find if you know what you're looking for, if you arrive right at 5pm on a cold weeknight in the winter, you'll easily find a table or seat at the bar. Very cute space, cozy like everyone says, but nothing mind blowing. Music is moderately loud. The menu in early February still included their winter holiday cocktails. I was more interested in the apple sage house-made fermented soda, and it was pretty good-large glass, flavorful and not too sweet. My friend enjoyed her pomegranate version. The space started to fill up at around 5:30. Service was polite when you could get it, but generally very inattentive, even before it got busy. It honestly didn't feel too different from anu other very nice NYC bar, in terms of menu selection, prices, ambiance and service. Maybe that's standard for NYC speakeasies, but the places I frequented in other cities were more fun and felt more worth the price. I'll still give another NYC spot a try, but not coming back to Thyme.

It was dark when we entered the coffee shop but an ajar door gave way to the bar. The decor is a homage to the works of Nikola Tesla, which can be seen in the subtle electric theme throughout the space and the naming of the cocktails. The space isn't too large - the bar and stools take up most of the space but they also have some booths/tables. The place looks great. The cocktail menu is very creative - I got one of their seasonal mixes that was actually two drinks in one. The main cocktail was meant to be sipped first and they provided a small glass of beer to be sipped after. The name escapes me but it was very good. It somehow manages to feel both refined and relaxed at the same time. The kind of place where you half expect to spot Hemingway in the corner pretending not to eavesdrop. We started with half a dozen oysters, which were fresh, briny, and exactly what you want with serious cocktails. Crisp, clean, gone in about three minutes. For drinks, we ordered the Smoke Show and the King Tusk. The Smoke Show was beautifully balanced. The Grey Goose vodka and Dolin Dry gave it that classic martini backbone, but the fino sherry and brine added depth. The smoked olive oil and blue cheese olive brought just enough savory drama without overpowering the glass. It was complex but not fussy. The King Tusk leaned more aromatic and layered. The vermouths gave it richness, while the Buddha's Hand and osmanthus flower added subtle citrus and floral notes that lingered in a really elegant way.
