For the first time ever I have walked into a bar in Germany and they had run out of beer. I mean come on, how is that even possible in Beer nation ? Mixed drinks like JD & Coke were minimum €7.50 and above and the bar was also pretty empty when we got there with Rock music from the 90's playing loud. The waitress was lovely and friendly but the guy at the bar seemed a bit grumpy and not interested in serving us. I may come back here again another time and see. It's saving grace is the opening times. 2 am during the week and upto 5am on weekends.

They still have their old records in a shelf above the bar. Neither has the furniture changed nor the people nor the music. And that makes a perfect atmosphere for a rocker pub like the Blende is. However don't be scared of the Blende, if you don't feel like a rocker or if you younger than the average guest. Especially the bartenders at Blende are very nice to everyone. And they are fast, too. While in most pubs in Düsseldorf you will wait forever for your beer, this is not the case at Blende. They also have a pool table and darts. And they show football games on TV, whenever there is one.

Therefore, you should not spend too much time there. The staff is always friendly but sometimes you need to ask for attention. In fact the walls are covered in graffiti, and not that street art style of graffiti but real graffiti. I'm not sure if the owners actually had a hand in it or not, but it was certainly something that really gave this bar some character. Mind you, they only have one size of beer - large - which is probably the first time I discovered this in Germany, particularly since having been to Colonge were all of their beers are 0.3 litres. Still, despite the fact that it was pretty quite, I really like the atmosphere of this place.
