I have never had it in my life. I had to have a broken molar extracted. I had an infection that went into the nerve. It was you have it or I don't get the service. So I did it and tried very hard to not breathe it in. I was not given antibiotics, pain medications or a prescribed anti-inflammatory like prednisone because I could not take ibuprofen. I was so sick from the gas and ended up at the walk in clinic. Dr. ended up in jail for something and I got the bill for last August 2025 two weeks ago - June 2026 with no breakdown of costs. Just $1900 and a charge for the laughing gas denied because I was too old to have it supposedly. Seriously? Worst customer service and patient care. Also I could have used my FSA, and now I can't of course.

A teenager was seen by Dr Balsis which recommended postponing a deciduous tooth extraction 6 months to a year. Upon follow visit at six months, a different provider, Dr Bauman, refused extraction and referred to a specialist ultimately costing an absorbent amount compared to initial extraction. They should have taken care of this in the first place and not wasted time and money down the road. Either Dr. Balsis needs to do his job correctly the first time or Dr. Bauman should thoroughly review prior care and consult with the previous doctor and medial records. Dr Bauman has never attended to this patient ever to begin with and they just plan to pawn the patient off on a specialist now. In addition, the hygenist had to even approach the accompanying adult in the lobby to inquire which dentist the patient sees regularly rather than reviewing previous medical record. After scheduling follow up consult with an outside provider, Berrien Dental declined medical record release to new facility. The curmudgeon office personnel stated that the records were withheld due to outstanding balance of adult sibling of the patient. The adult sibling has no bearing on the minors medical care. The curmudgeon personnel was holding records hostage until the non responsible party reconciled account. The minor or the accompanying adult had no financial obligation the adult sibling. Due to lack of communication and patient care in addition to unprofessional office personnel, this dental practice should never be referred to anyone. Their sole purpose is to line their pockets and ego.

The new owner, is efficient but not very people friendly. The previous office staff was knowledgeable in billing, insurance and taking care of the patient's financial responsibility. Now, they are not only charging more for almost every service, but the billing and insurance is a complete mess. We needed to change our dental insurance company and called to make sure Modern would take what we were considering. They said absolutely 'yes', so we signed up. After routine cleanings, and xrays for me, we received a bill for nearly $600. as our payable. When I asked about it they said they were not actually 'in network' for the insurance company. I explained we made our choice base on making sure with them it was a company they worked with before we signed up ... to no avail. It fell on deaf ears - when it comes to the new owner Andrea the priority is the money, not doing the right thing by her patients. Save your self time and grief and go elsewhere. We have found another 5 star dentist in the area that whose staff are excellent, friendly, took our insurance information first so we are not being charged unfairly. The new Modern is in business only to make money, and not what the old Modern was all about - namely taking care of their patients in all aspects. If you look at the reviews you will notice that most of the good ones are from the past, and the newer reviews are like mine - they are overcharging both the insurance companies and their patients. Maybe it's just a sign of the times - money is the major priority and taking care of people is a distant thought. But please be aware there are alternatives out there who still do the right thing by their patients - this outfit is not one of them!

Then we had the issue of not knowing how to contain our costs on routine care, which was running north of $200/person! Now our family is part of the RAD plan at Red Arrow. We pay a reasonable amount for the year--flat--with a discount on additional items. All 8 of us were seen in a little over the time that 2 of us were seen at our former dentist. And best of all, we feel valued and cared for both as patients with teeth to steward and as people. I'm glad we've found our model moving forward, and I think anyone else dissatisfied with how they are doing dental should consider the Red Arrow team.

Even my first consult with Dr. Thomas made me feel at ease with his office. He was both kind and empathetic to the situation I was coming from. I had a long road ahead and seeing the difference from office to office I now know what great hands I am in. We removed the braces from the previous office, allowed my teeth to stabilize and then started completely over. Dr. Thomas takes his time and really puts all that he has into his patients and ensuring their smile and end goals are clear and articulated in a way that I could understand. Now, being well into my treatment with this office I couldn't recommend them more.
