Our table was happy with the medium to medium rare presentation , but another tables came so well done they were disappointed . Not part of our group , but I saw a tray of steaks returning to kitchen that were so rare they were not edible. One of the highlights was our sweet and attentive young waitress who came by every few minutes to refill our glasses. The dessert of crème brûlée was perfectly prepared .

They also have quite a few old bottles on display. The entrance is very beautiful and make sure to check out the bottle in the floor of the doorway when you walk through the entrance. The wine tasting was pleasant and the person giving it was knowledgeable. We tasted both whites and reds, but we didn't end up buying anything. Our tour guide gave us a mission estate wine glass as a moment though, so that was sweet. Aside from the wine tastings they do in the main area, there is also a restaurant off to the side that I don't think is affiliated with the winery part. There is a nice backyard area with pretty views and flowers.

There were so many mouth-watering choices it was difficult to choose. To start we opted for the fig & carmelized Focaccia drizzled with a superb fruity olive oil-just melted in our mouth! For our main, after much deliberations we both selected the Rosemary rubbed beef with mushroom ravioli. Mine was request well done and my wife medium and both came out absolutely perfect. The Jewel stone Mission Bordeaux blend was the perfect compliment to the food. For dessert, the Chocolate fondant (molten chocolate cake) with boysenberry sorbet was the perfect finish and also went very well with the jewel stone wine! What a great meal and dining outside as the evening cooled was very special. And the best part? It wasn't that much more than other area restaurants-with 2 aperitivo, 3 glasses of top end wine, 2 entree, an appetizer and dessert we only paid about NZ$180 (US $120). He was friendly and knowledgeable, providing us with interesting facts about the area and wineries and we had a great experience. The pace was easygoing and laid back and we enjoyed the excellent wine, food and company! He let us take as long as we wanted to at each winery and it never felt rushed. Amazing Wine, Beer and Art Deco Tour with Mark from Hawke's Bay Scenic Tours…read more After a lengthy delay due to high winds, we disembarked from our cruise almost 90 minutes late. Miraculously, Mark was able to rearrange the timing and provide our group with the most amazing tour. Loved hearing about the history of the area, the beaches and why Napier is the Art Deco Capital. So interesting to hear about everything from earthquakes and floods to healthcare, agriculture and education as we toured so many amazing neighborhoods each with a hidden treasure or story. Of course, the visit to the beautiful Mission Estate Winery was amazing. The vineyards and estate home are so beautiful. The cider tastings were unexpectedly delightful. Loved the apple orchards. One of the best parts, though, was seeing Napier with someone who really loves and is so proud of his hometown. Loved driving through downtown Napier not once but twice because Mark didn't want us to miss anything. Even the bridges have Art Deco touches. Loved seeing the Boys School, the Girls School and the cricket fields. So interesting to make a short stop at Centennial Gardens which was created in an old site quarried by the prisoners who lived across the street. Now this beautiful garden is filled with a waterfall, bridge and a peaceful pond. So nice to climb up to Bluff Hill Domain and get a beautiful view of the Napier Port, our cruise ship and enjoy more gardens. Loved visiting another vantage point to see the Art Deco City while enjoying looking at wooden Victorian homes that survived the catastrophic earthquake of 1931. The before and after historic photos were truly unbelievable. Wine. Beer. Art Deco. Agriculture. Golf courses. Birds. Education and more. This really was one of the best tours that we have ever taken. A special thanks to Mark for a very wonderful day exploring Napier and Hawke's Bay.
