My 92 year-old dad always jokes that his children were going to "put him in a home". Well, Emilie Court is the "home". Except for the super creepy painting of the judgy nun staring at you as you descend the stairs, Emilie Court is a great place for dad. He has his own studio apartment that is quite comfortable. He has a nice view from two big windows that also let a lot of natural light in. The room has a kitchenette with a sink, microwave and a dorm room sized fridge. The bathroom is huge and the shower is senior citizen friendly. The staff is made up of some of the nicest, friendliest, most compassionate people you will ever encounter. They are all outstanding and treat their tenants with the utmost care and respect. If he's not up yet, they'll wake my dad for breakfast at 7:30. Lunch is at noon and dinner at 4:30. Guests are welcome to purchase a meal and enjoy it in the dining room with their loved ones. Becky and I had lunch with dad a couple of times. The food was really good. Every morning this one young staff member would ask dad what he wanted for breakfast. Every morning my dad would tell her "Grits". She would laugh, knowing that dad was well aware there were no grits. This went on for about a week. Then one morning my dad asked for grits, and she brought him a bowl of grits! She bought them herself and had the chefs cook them up. So sweet. My siblings and I are all grateful knowing our dad has a safe and comfortable place to live in Emilie Court. read more
