I reserved my group of 8 at Emily's for a birthday party, but we ended up lowering it to 6 the day of. Since the restaurant was fully booked, we stayed in the private room which ended up working in our favor, it was beautiful! It was a great space to use and felt like we had our own room. The ambiance was lovely. Since we did a family style pre fixe, the food started coming out asap. The menu they set up for us was a nice touch! We got to add a custom image and title at the top too, so it felt a little more special. We got the mozz sticks, salad, wings, burger, and different pizzas. It was DELICIOUS. The portions were great, and we ended up having lots of leftovers. The pizzas were both doughy and had a crispy crust. They were all so flavorful, if only we were hungrier to eat them all! The only thing I probably would've replaced was the wings, but everything else was great! Service was also top notch. We could tell he was busy, but he was on top of taking care of our party. Neat little place. Came in for an early dinner. The place was quiet and laid back. Service was good. Staff were helpful as we asked about the food and drinks, as well as checking in just the right amount of times. I did order an Old Fashioned before we ate. I asked for it to be made with Makers Mark. I felt it was a little on the high side as it cost $20. The food was outstanding! The Emmy Double Stack Burger has got to be one of the best burgers I've ever had. Cooked perfectly and flavorful. Quick disclaimer before I begin: I'm usually very straight-to-the-point with my reviews. Good or bad, that's it. I don't ramble or write essays. But this is the first restaurant in years that I got home from and immediately wanted to talk about, so here we are. Let's talk about Emily. The ambiance is immediately evident. Upstairs is social, buzzing, etc. Downstairs is intimate, quiet, almost hidden. They even have a room downstairs that you can decorate as you'd like, bring your own dessert in, etc. And the prices are actually reasonable in the West Village. So, we asked about it for an upcoming birthday. And if you end up loving this place as much as we did, ask them about it. Now, onto the service. Our server, Mel, was the epitome of this entire experience. Vibrant, attentive, caring. Not in an overbearing way, just in a genuine way. She went above and beyond, quadruple-checked everything with us to make sure our friend with a severe nut allergy was okay, which is even more important here since pesto is involved... and I love pesto. The biggest thing, though, was that it felt like eating at someone's home. Fast, always around before you knew you needed something. We never had to ask for anything. Mel alone was enough for me to return. Drinks - this is the only negative I have. Flavors? Incredible. Great cocktails. But they were a little light on the alcohol for the price. The prices are in line with what you would expect to pay in the West Village, but I have high standards when it comes to cocktails, judging them on the alcohol-to-price ratio. Now, the food. We stuck mostly to the pizza-based dishes, including the cheesy garlic sticks, which are made fresh from the pizza dough. I've had my fair share of garlic cheesy sticks in my time, and I was pretty sure they could not be improved. I was wrong. I was wrong. The garlic cheesy sticks were the best I've had in years. Easily. We also tried The Luca -- added pepperoni for a little extra flair, but at its core it's traditional, classic, and just straight-up fire. If you're someone who likes to play it safe and still wants something executed perfectly, this is absolutely your pizza. The main event for me, though, was the VIP -- which is actually what I ordered. It's essentially the spicy version of the MVP. And listen, I have a spice tolerance like a mf, and this pizza actually delivered the kick I've always wanted from a pizza place. Not some gimmicky hot honey situation -- real heat, real flavor. Marinara. Vodka sauce. Pesto. All of these were already present and accounted for. But I had the brilliant idea of taking the pizza and dipping it in whatever sauce I was in the mood for. I opted for the pesto, and it was just incredible. All of the sauces are house-made and are absolutely delicious. Now, I know what you're thinking. You're thinking, "New York does not love the Detroit-style pizza." And you're right. You're thinking, "I don't care how good the pizza is, I don't care what the guy says, I don't like the style." And you're right. You're thinking, "I'm a thin crust guy, and I don't care how good the pizza is, I don't care what the guy says, I don't like the style." And you're right. I'm not any of those guys. I'm a pizza connoisseur. I was just in Italy, and I'll tell you something. Nothing was even close. I did not even try everything. They have an award-winning burger that everyone around me was ordering, and the wings looked insane. This whole experience was everything that we wanted. A girls night with great food and drink options. We were running late and the team was super friendly and understanding. We were sat right away and the service was quick but not pushy. I feel like we should have gotten 3 burgers instead of just 2. Trust me...they are worth all the hype. We asked our waitress if we could do half pepperoni, half sausage but were rudely told no but that we could just put pepperoni on half instead? I don't get why that was our only option and sausage couldn't have been added to the other half. We were charged for a pepperoni addition on the entire pizza anyways, so why not be able to add a different meat to half of the bottom sauce is the same? Table of three ordered the double stack burger, chicken sandwich, and the arenstein pizza. Everything was delicious (but a little heavy as expected), but both chicken and burger had two protein patties which made it very filling. The arenstein pizza was good, however I think the colony pizza may be better because of the tomato sauce making it more light/tart. The arenstein had the same toppings, just a vodka sauce, but their vodka sauce isn't very strong. Service was great and we sat in the downstairs room which was very dark and vibey. read more

And the restaurant itself I will have to come back to, loved the vibe and the service was great. The burger however is not great. The patty's were not great quality for a 30$ burger, like I'm talking Costco frozen patty status. The whole thing was drenching in sauce that kinda had no significant flavor. Food is pretty good. Have been here twice and ordered to go a few times. Really like the MVP pizza and the Caesar salad. The customer service in this place, though, has always been subpar. No one is necessarily rude but they sure aren't nice. Staff often ignores you, or when they do speak to you they're short and silent. Additionally the staff hangs out in the front and is super loud, they had a "dabbing competition" last time I was there which like go for it but they were practically yelling doing it. Ruins the ambience of the place. Last time I went we didn't receive one of our menu items and when asked if I received it, I started to speak but after the "no, but..." (was going to say at this point we don't want it) she walked away and not to go get us it, just to leave. Honestly, wouldn't go back again to dine there. The best dinn in pizza I've had in ages. The service was prompt. I recommend making preservations but I snuck in at the right time around 4:30 pm before the rush. The restaurant doesn't really have any bad seats in the house but I felt that the basement felt more intimate and private if that is what you prefer. We came here for lunch on the weekend when they first opened and got seated inside. Our server was friendly and the food was delicious! To drink I had the perfect pear ($15) which was delicious! - Gin, pear puree, lemon and cinnamon. I enjoy this cocktail a lot. To eat our table shared the wings, waffle fries, asian cucumbers and Mimi pizza ($22). We all agreed that we could skip the cucumbers and wings next time. Wings had a slight spicy kick to them but was nothing special. The mimi pizza, however, was really good! We all felt that they initially forgot about our pizza, but when we asked about it, it came out right away and was luke warm. Not cold, but it definitely wasn't fresh out of the oven hot. On our first night in NYC we decided to hit up Emily as I heard they make a decent pizza and burger. We called to see if we could reserve a spot but they weren't taking any that day. There wasn't a lot of question about what we wanted. 2 burgers and a pizza...though on this trip they were serving up Detroit pizzas. I think I've seen that they used to serve up NY style pizzas before. Before our meals came I went to the washroom. They're downstairs and it looks like there is a private dining area here so it's much larger than I originally thought. It didn't take long for our burgers to arrive. The burgers looked great but were saucy which I wasn't sure how I'd feel about it. They came waffle fries and in no time I took my first bite. I had to make sure so I took a second bite and yup, that's in my top 10 burgers of all time on this planet. Holy smokes, it tasted like they used multiple kinds of cuts in their ground and the sauce really nice. I slowly savoured that burger until the pizza came. When the pizza arrived I was already pretty full, thankfully I only took 1 bite of the waffle fries. The pizza looked great as well! We all took a slice and bit in. It's definitely a nice pizza but the burger just overshadowed it. I'm not a fan of pineapple on my pizza but this one had the most amount of meat on it so it's why we went with it. The hot honey was alright. I know some people love it but I could have done without. All in all, got a decent slice and a fantastic burger. The staff are super friendly and attentive here. We got a couple glasses of wine, the mozzarella sticks, cauliflower, and the Caesar salad salad. The Caesar salad was really fun, probably one of the best I've had. It was deconstructed had lots of nice textures, rich flavors, all enhanced by a soft creamy dressing that wasn't too powerful. The cauliflower had a nice kick to it, but it was made slightly strange with the raisins.
