The entertainment was like amateur night at the Apollo. They had 4 bands and every one was tone deaf. They had a latin band who played a Marc Anthony song and they were horrible. There is a shuttle that circulates the parking lot every 5 to 10 mins to take you to the entrance. There are tons of slots , card tables and high roller sections. Their food options are a bit limited but reasonably priced. On my most recent tour I saw there was a hot dog cart that was coming around to serve patrons who wanted a quick economic bite! Their drinks are complimentary as long as you're seated and playing. Staff is usually friendly and the facilities are well maintained. Around the area outside there are more food options. Empire casino qill always hold a special place in my heart. It is harder to get to now. It is about 30 minutes from my home town in New Jersey just across the infamous George Washingron bridge in New York City. Ez pass, the new toll system acroas the board, the bridge is cashledd and the amount of traffic into New york make driving a nightmare. Franklin going to Atlantic city casinos is cheaper but a longer commute. I went during the day with less people on a friday. People will still working and kids were schooling. I was gambling. It was not a win win trip. I had my usual beer $9 and coffee which was free with a tip to the waitress. They do have several eateries if you are hungry. The casino does offer valet services and there is still horse rating nightly. It took me about the same time going back to Jersey since I am so familar with the commute back and forth. This is a swan song for me since I probably will not be back unleas I travel back to New york to see a broadway show or another epic event. So long Empire casino and thabks for the ride. I've been to empire city numerous times mostly all the time in the evening today was the first day I actually went during the day.I have to be honest.I did like empire city at night.But when I went during the day, there were so many problems with the games games that weren't service just sitting there.And saying attendant waiting and games that wouldn't accept my mgm.Reward cards and then games that were just not working during the daytime.And you would think the daytime would be the time where things would get done.But when I spoke to some of the technicians and people there, they provided excuses, but no one provided an answer or a fix for anything. Empire Casino security without a shred of evidence, escorted him through the venue as if he were guilty of something, parading him in front of everyone. Security approached him with their hands on their guns. He was made to feel like a threat. For being a person of color. He feared for his life. He felt unsafe, powerless, and dehumanized. This is what racism looks like in real time. It doesn't always wear a hood. Sometimes it wears a uniform and walks through a crowd pretending it's just "doing its job." But we see it. I'm a Vegas fan when it comes to Casino culture. I've been an MGM member for many years, and have had some challenges adapting to the different vibe in Yonkers. This is very much a local casino, you're not going to find people doing any fine dining or outrageous nights out, but there are some pros to this place. First of all it's very big so I love the fact that I can get exercise while I'm actually having fun. Of course I stop to play slots along the way, and the slot machines are mostly clean - probably cause no smoking is allowed in there, and overall most of them work very well. It's definitely great for something to do with friends any night of the week. They're open till 5:30 AM so if you just need to get out your night owl energy, it's good. A huge pro is that while the state lottery co-owns this location with Mgm, their bonus tax rules are much different. In Vegas if you get anything over $1200 you automatically get a 1099. While here your bonus/hit has to be something like 300% of your bet for it to trigger a 1099. And of course there are some cons. As a platinum MGM member, you become accustomed to certain treatment and perks in Las Vegas. Unfortunately this NY-based casino doesn't really value platinum players the same way - most of the free play offers for the amount of play doesn't add up, and their promo night challenges are really hard to attain. The VIP room rarely gets any new games, so while the chairs in there are quite comfy, it doesn't give much incentive to play in there more than once or twice. They do have a number of new machines, but for some reason absolutely no Dragon Link, Dragon Cash, Lightning Link, or related Aristocrat games. They DO have a couple of the recent Buffalo games, but no Buffalo Link or Buffalo Lightening Link. Basically all the most popular and fun games are missing from their collection. They have a ton of Light & Wonder games, but still never had Dragon Train when it came out (and went). I sincerely think they would have people playing longer if they got any of these games mentioned right here. The staff is hit or miss, usually are you agreed with a friendly hello at the front when you walk in, some of the food service workers are very friendly while some of them are extremely rude, particularly the bartenders. I don't drink like that but I've asked simple questions and have them cop an attitude with me so I can only imagine what they do to people actually drinking. The rewards desk team is very kind and helpful as are the cashiers. Speaking of food service, there is not a lot of food options in here and the ones that are there are not open 24 hours so if you're a late night gambler you're pretty much out of luck to get much of anything. They would do very well to have a 24 hour diner that served dinner and breakfast as people would probably sit down at some point and actually eat. They do have the pub, but that's only open on Saturdays and Sundays. The food has mostly been good - only had one time where my bun was burned and for some reason they just couldn't fix it. But still decent food overall and a very nice staff. There tends to be panhandlers roaming around the casino at various times, and while they're not necessarily dangerous or anything, they're still annoying and there's really no floor security to help if you're being bothered. i'm always down to help people, but I go to the casino to blow off steam and forget about real life for a while - not to be more stressed. Regardless of any of the cons, there's still a lot of fun to be had at Empire. I have met some really nice people and I've had some fun nights there. It's not just about winning and losing, it's also about having a fun social experience that is a little bit off the beaten path from what New Yorkers are used to. read more

Went with my family on a Saturday night. I used valet the place is huge and didn't want to self park but that is available if you prefer. Security does check identification upon arrival. Establishments is huge, great selection on different slot machines. I find the Entertainment bar to be expensive and the gentleman bartending was rude. I preferred the back Tequila Bar the also provide frozen drinks that are delicious. My bartender was Rosa she was so sweet and definitely upsold my order providing great info on the drinks. We arrived early evening so as the night progressed the crowd definitely crew but nothing too crazy like Resorts in Queen. This is definitely my casino of choice in NYC. read more

This is the worst operated and maintained casino out of the hundred or so I've been to. The kiosks rarely work, and at least half of the slots are impossible to play. Buttons don't work, some have no sound, the screens shift erratically. Nobody seems to care. All they do is say "I'm sorry". I've probably gone there weekly for the past decade...and everything has gone downhill. I don't mind losing my money as long as I'm playing. Up and down and up and down down is fine... But, the machines have changed. It's hard to find games under .88 now. With these new machines, each spin takes a millisecond. Guess how long it takes to lose $100...! And the games are so obviously fixed. There's nothing random. Some days, I can hit and hit on each machine in a row. But most of the time...if one machine isn't paying, nothing's paying. I am not even remotely close to being a gambler. Most casinos that I've visited have been at the invitation of a loved, or bored, one. I'm pretty good company, what can I say? I'm also a lucky charm because I've been with a few folks who've won and shared their winnings so that I got to sit and play. I have had decent results here but it's just not in my blood to gamble this way. Don't listen to folks who haven't won and tell you to stay away. Not too shabby on the wins. I never stay longer than 2 hours because I can't tolerate it. The bathrooms are nice and well maintained. I didn't try out any offerings from the food court area to really give it a rating but every one there looked well fed and happy. The parking lot is farther than I'd like but I don't usually drive myself here anyhow. They don't allow backpacks, and they don't have a coat check so travel light. Simply put, MGM has destroyed this place in so many ways. First of all the Victorian ambience that this place had, similar to downtown Vegas, is all gone since almost every machine is now 10 feet tall and it's impossible to see anything past them. . The Food Court also has been downscaled with very limited selections (the wonderful fish and chips is no longer available). The gourmet restaurant that was there pre MGM is gone. Huge parking lot with shuttle service. Larne percentage of Machines are penny Machines. Look for the multi denomination Machines to improve your play. I was impressed by this casino. The upstairs was closed due to COVID-19. I came here on a Saturday afternoon and the casino was packed. I would bring disinfectant wipes to use for when you sit down at a machine. The casino does not enforce skipping a seat between machines. A lot of machines have the plex glass in between but COVID-19 is said to be airborne, so......... Parking lot seemed very full and I did notice a lot of strange people lurking around in the parking lot. Definitely would want to be weary of this and I am not sure what it would be like in the evening. The parking is a further walk from the actual casino (unless you are a VIP level, plan to WALK). Everyone did seem to follow mask protocol and that was reassuring. All the restaurants and bars are closed during covid to enforce those to wear masks. I didn't make it to the food court so I am unsure if that was open. The casino provides hand sanitizer in select locations and I saw a variety of machines. Place is dirty and dingy looking and a lot of machines aren't working properly. First machine I tried went dark had to wait 20 mins for attendant because I had money left in the machine .
