I was in heaven they were so so so good!! I got the red beans and rice and plantains as sides. Best beans and rice ever and when you add the ox tail juice over it I was nothing but smiles. A man was setting the outside unbrella at the table I was at, he told me he was a part owner and I relayed how much I enjoyed the ox tails. I took a to go order of jerk chicken. I ate it the next day because I was too full to eat it that night. I was amazed it was still so moist and juicy. My wife ate all the plantains she enjoyed them. I am now a fan. Literally. When I was younger my parents and I went to the Grand Cayman. There was a person making jerk chicken out on the beach - we had some, and it was the best chicken I had ever had. Ever since then, I've been looking for something similar. My husband and I got the bbq jerk chicken and the regular jerk chicken - the large size, because I ordered first with the intention of getting some leftovers, and my husband decided he couldn't be upstaged by his wife. The chicken was tender, fell off the bone, and was the closest I've ever gotten to that chicken we had in the Grand Cayman. And the large portion had enough for two meals for me. I think we both preferred the regular jerk over the bbq. Plantains, cornbread, and rice and peas all were excellent. This place is SO worth the trip - we will be back for sure. read more

This had to be one of the worse Jamaican restaurants I've ever eaten at. If you love spicy food this place is for you. I usually get jerk cchicken but was advised it was spicy so settled on the red snapper. I am not Jamaican but I know what good Jamaican food is suppose to look like and taste like. My husband who is Jamaican asked the lady taking our order questions about the food and was very precise on what he wanted. Is the plantain ripe or green? I want my Red snapper escovitch. The food comes and the fish is fried beyond consumption. The gravy that came with it was so spicy it felt like I was eating hot tameles. My sister in law, who is also from the Caribbean, says she does not eat at this restaurant. Unfortunately, I did not find this out u til after I had already eaten there. This location is in a run down part of the town. So if you feel like you are driving in the getto you are correct in feeling that way because you are in the hood! I ordered the ox tail and a side of the jerk chicken with a bottle water. I must say I have had better ox tail, the jerk chicken ended up being my favorite of the 2 items which was surprising since I was looking forward to having the ox tail as my main dish. Get this the bottle water I ordered looked fine except for when I opened it the seal was broken, I thought I'll give it a try anyways..... Maybe it was broken accidentally ; not so the water tasted tainted like this was probably one of the workers bottle that they refil from the tap!!! That totally grossed me out. I tried to place an order via phone for 45 minutes, before finally giving up and arriving at the restaurant around 630. I was half heartedly greeted by what I presume is the owner (an older woman). She advised it was after 6pm and i couldn't have any fried items. Every item i tried to order i was told i couldn't and she was growing more and more frustrated with me. The jerk and barbecue chicken lacked flavor and authenticity. The beans and rice were dry, bland and resembled something you would get from a bag with seasoning packet. The fried plantains which had been quite delicious my previous times ordering were awful. This coupled with the poor customer service I will not be back. Also, upon reviewing the other less then stellar reviews, the responses from the restaurant are ignorant, childish and petty. If you dont believe me pull up the restaurant on facebook and look at the negative reviews. Yet another Linden gem that is off the radar; Ena's serves up hearty, filling Caribbean food. I went with the special soup of the day which was red pea soup and a side of coco bread and ate inside the tidy dining area. The soup was rich and filled with a lot more than red peas. There were dumplings, goat meat, a yellow kind of yam, I forget what else. The coco bread is what I'd guess is a Caribbean brand of bread that is like a large, soft dinner roll and what great for sopping up the thick broth, which was bordering stew territory. Miss this place so much now that I live in Phoenix, AZ. The curry chicken and jerk chicken were very good. The dining area wasn't as hot as I was made to believe by the other reviews (and it was 90 degrees with 90% humidity earlier that day), so we ate there. It was warm, but I was wearing pants and a long-sleeve dress shirt and I was fine. The service is the only issue I had with my experience. It was a 20-25 minute drive to Ena's, so based on the other reviews, we called in our order as we were leaving, and I was on hold for close to 15 minutes. Once we got there, the woman running the register apologized and said she forgot about me being on hold. It happens, I guess, but I'd say based on that and our interaction with her at the store, her customer service could use a little improvement. It was just a little off-putting, that's all. Oh, and I got the curry chicken, which comes with potatoES, yet I got only one small potato lol. The portions are generous, and I got a lot of chicken, but it would've been nice to have a better balance (the potatoes were part of the reason I chose the curry chicken). Overall, I'll probably go back. The food was very good, and the customer service, while not being stellar, wasn't the worst I've seen either. The food truck was at our office today. Got the jerk chicken bowl. Sliced chicken over red beans & rice. It tasted great! The chicken was nice & juicy. It was spicy but not overwhelming by my standards, the heat just builds a little then stays with you for awhile. Remember I have spent a lot of time in the islands and nyc. if you cant make a great beef patty then the rest isn't worth it. the beef patty is below average. the curry chicken dosnt have deep curry flavor. you can tell its place in a pot and over simmered because the chicken is dry in spots. The parking is limited so that was probably the only issue, the place isn't big but hey, the food was why I came here. We ordered a large order of Caribbean jerk chicken, since that's what Ena's was known for. I can honestly say everyone that took a bite of the jerk chicken with some rice absolutely loved it. I found a very clean, very bright, very Spartan dining room. The young man taking orders was patient and pleasant. I ordered curry chicken, rice and peas, found out cornbread was called a side, and ordered a cup of fish soup. The wait was a bit long and seemed longer sitting in the sparse room. The cost seemed somewhat high for a simple plate lunch in such a no frills place. Since it was an almost hot day I took my dinner to an outdoor table in the condo complex. The soup was a poor introduction to Enas Kitchen. It had big pasty hard dumpling, lots of carrot slices, some unidentified vegetable that looked like sliced kohlrabi, pieces of overcooked fish and a dash of curry powder. I did not finish it. I opened the styrofoam container to find a large portion of rice and peas, a large piece of corn bread, and several small chicken thighs covered by a yellow sauce. I can sum the dinner up by saying good enough. The rice and peas was very good. The rice was done perfectly. Not pasty or not so dry it was hard. The cornbread was well baked. I prefer a less sweet bread but sure most of the customers order this version repeatedly. The curry was under spiced and under seasoned. But a restaurant is better off under doing than over doing the seasoning. I think the curry could have used some green onions and some potatoes as others I have had, but it was good enough. I will most likely return but order something different next time for my main course. read more

First time I had ordered was told the jerk chicken was spicy and there weren't levels of spice. I also tasted the BBQ jerk chicken with cabbage and cornbread. The oxtail were excellent - tender and flavorful! The rice and beans and greens were pretty good too and I had some of the cornbread with the greens. The cornbread was decent and they gave a generous slice. The BBQ jerk chicken was ok for me. The flavor was good, a bit spicy for my taste. I didn't like the cabbage though, as it was almost raw. Because of that, I give the restaurant 4 stars. We drove 75 minutes to try Ena's after seeing it on Triple D. Half the tables that were there for the TV show were no where to be found. Half a booth and three high tops with 2 to 3 chairs each were the only seats available. My son, his girlfriend and I must've caught them on an off day. There was a group of 4 college students in front of us and one person waiting for take out. It was on Sunday 2 weeks ago prior to local churches letting out. We ordered the BBQ jerk chicken with plantains and beans and rice, curry chicken with beans and rice and collards and the whole fried snapper with escavech sauce, beans and rice and plantains. It took 40 - 45 minutes to get our food. The curry and the BBQ jerk were well prepared though could have used quite a bit more heat (both spice and stove heat being luke warm at best. The spice was rather subdued. The collards were excellent. The beans and rice were tasty but on the dry side. The biggest disappointment by far was the whole fried snapper. It was horribly over cooked to the point without the sauce it would be nearly to dry to eat. Due to the overcooking about half the fish was fused to the skin and bones and couldn't be eaten. The other major disappointment was the plantains. They were room temp and flaccid and greasy. On the plus side the serving were good sized. My son and his girlfriend were talking about a return trip but I definitely would hesitate as my main course was poorly done and one of my two sides was a major disappointment. The real quandry is how does a deep fried whole fish come out overcooked at room temp after we waited about 45 for it to be cooked. read more

Who would've thought Columbus has legit Jamaican? This place is a hole in the wall but don't be fooled, this place is worth the trip. The staff was incredibly helpful, as she allowed us to taste as many items on the menu as we wanted before we ordered. Where else will you find that? We had the Jerk Chicken, Curry Chicken, beans and rice, plantains, cornbread and mac and cheese. By the way, the oxtail was also very good. Both chickens were very good and all the sides were on point with the exception of the mac and cheese which was kinda plain. Lastly, you better come hungry as they feed you, they are not stingy with their portion sizes. I think each dinner cost about $10 and we each got 2 meals from each dinner.
