Cafe San Diego is a cool little coffee place in a cool little pocket of Coyoacan. Super-friendly staff (Mario and Jerry) and owner (Anna). The coffee is an artisanal mix from Chiapas, Oaxaca, Guerrero and Veracruz, the premier coffee-producing states of Mexico. Although I haven't tried them, they have a lovely, tempting assortment of muffins and cakes (homemade daily)....carrot cake, lemon cake, egg custard, banana bread, etc., as well as salads and sandwiches. We're enjoying a HUGE Chapata (a sandwich containing turkey ham, manchego cheese and mushrooms) as I write this review! My husband and I (along with our tiny Chihuahua) are staying nearby and happened upon the shop one day. We liked it so much that we have made Cafe San Diego our morning ritual. The clientele is a nice mix of students (Escuela National de Musica, Mexico's national school of music, is just down the street) and locals, young and old. in fact, Mario teaches guitar and is a huge fan of the American blues... Muddy Waters, Junior Kimbrough and the like. Such a pleasant vibe here. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
