Having had a continuing, though somewhat skeptical, interest in the benefits of regular meditation…read morefor many years, I had never seriously considered meditation as a daily ritual. I was not sleeping well, was unable to relax and found myself consistently moving from one unfinished project to another and seldom completing any. This mindset resulted in a lot of frustration. On sharing my inability to relax and to fully focus on the prioritizing of daily tasks, a friend suggested that I explore meditation as a tool in accomplishing both. From this suggestion and through an internet investigation, I was led to Stragetic Interactions and thus to its Leadership Mindfulness & Meditation training program. My resulting connection with Jennell, the Practice Leader for the program quickly dispelled any skepticism of the practice and I became an enthusiastic student. Of the numerous alternative plans for participation, i opted for the home study, one hour per session plan, led by Jennell, using virtual electronic media (in this case Zoom) available through computer or mobile device. Sessions are conducted from home, or office or other locations convenient to the User and at times mutually convenient. Jennell was always extremely well prepared and assigned interesting, non threatening preparatory exercises between sessions, allowing as much "face-time" as possible during the session. Each session was a fantastic experience, enhanced by Jennell's charming personality; her background as a successful business consultant; her innovative leadership credentialshe; her impressive educational background and training as well as her patience and genuine objective that each participant benefit to his or her maximum potential. The setting and general atmosphere dispel any notion that one must journey to some distant or exotic place or to participate in a structured retreat as a part of a group in order to develop a healthier mindset and lifestyle through this training. Although the training will positively impact different people In dealing with different issues as individuals, my experience resulted in the meditation portion focusing on the relaxation of the mind and body in reducing stress and the mindfulness portion resulted in a better mental organization and appreciation of all that life has to offer, the ultimate result being the development of a more stress free, well prioritized lifestyle. Since completing the course, I meditate each day. Like most, my time is limited and that was the excuse I had used. With Jennell's guidance, I have learned that once we discipline ourselves to it's importance, the time will make itself available. I sleep better, enjoy a more positive attitude, worry less about things I can't control, enjoy the beauty and joy of everyday life and have a greater sense of general well being. I have experiences significant improvement in dealing with stressful situations, particularly those over which I cannot control.
