This Mexican restaurant located in the general central area of Darmstadt is a very good choice for a good Mexican dinner and a nice drink. Dinner can be enjoyed on their cozy patio on a good weather day or in their spacious and well-kept dining room if the weather is not conducive to eating outside. The dining room is kept rather dark, which is not necessarily bad, and it seems quite comfortable. But I opted for outside. The location for this place was convenient as I was staying by the train station. It was closer than anything in the core center city area and was about a 10 -15 minute walk for me. It was reasonably easy to find. I visited on a Sunday night and found it not to be too busy. Hence, it was not diificult to find a seat on the patio on that lovely summer evening and it also set the stage for the service to be rather good since the server was not overwhelmed. I like getting ethnic fare in different places as it is interesting to compare, in this case, the German take on Mexican versus the US take on Mexican. One would expect, for proximity reasons, the US take to be more authentic, and it usually is based on my experience. But this place had a definite TexMex bent, enough so to make it enjoyable. They definitely seemed to focus a bigger effort in making their drinks authentic relative to the food dishes, but the taste of the food was good and that is the main point when all is said and done. I wanted to eat lighter as I am in the midst of an effort to reduce weight (successful efforts so far, didn't want to mess that up) and there were a couple of things that were quite in line with my needs. The one I chose was the Chicken Bowl and it was a great choice indeed. Coming with grilled chicken strips, avocado, baby spinach, mexican rice & quinoa, refried beans, red cabbage, coconut yoghurt, pickled onions, radishes and roasted corn, it was rather tasty. I paired that with a very good Tempranillo red and was quite satisfied with my dining experience. With food, wine, a large sparkling water and a small tip, the bill came to 34 euros. Ok, when it comes to Tex-Mex, I am spoiled. My sister used to live around the corner so we went. Interieur - nice Staff - friendly Drinks - good and reasonably priced Food - well, this is definitely not Pappasito's. The food lacked the flavorful spice of tex-mex cuisine. The salsa lost its kick somewhere in a can of tomato paste and tasted more like children's pasta sauce. The rest was ok. Parking - don't even attempt. So if this place could use some it is spice - mainly jalapenos, habanero, green chile, anaheim peppers, poblano peppers etc. Any type of pepper, really. read more

I'm sorry to say I was very disappointed when I went here. It's a big place and it was very busy and noisy, and everything took ages, waitress - drinks - food. When the food finally did arrive it was bland - edible, but just not spicy enough or tasty enough to be good Mexican food. The only good thing was the cocktails. That said it's not terrible, and it's very convenient if you're staying at the Ibis and don't fancy eating in the Australian bar. read more

Good selection of cocktails and great Mexican food. Service was a little slow, but the food was very good. Prices were a bit steep and the atmosphere was very refreshing. Get a supreme burrito and enjoy a margarita pitcher during happy hour for a good time. read more

This restaurant / cocktail bar is extremely disappointing. The drinks are nothing special. All food tastes similar and the taste is not good, really. The service takes so long that I always order the next drink when receiving my last order. Talking about price, it is not worth it. Quite expensive and you know what I think of taste and service at this place. Avoid Enchilada and Darmstadt, there are certainly better places to go! read more
