My vision was of an English Garden and a South of France aesthetic. We met several times and there were at least two design changes until we reached the final design, including the specific plants such as annuals, perennials, fruit trees, roses, aromatic vines, herbs, hydrangeas, ground covers, etc. His crew were on time, polite, and cleaned up after each day's work. In my conversations with Nikos, he mentioned the idea of an 'edible garden,' which could introduce different textures and colors to the yard. I must admit that I was not keen on mixing my lovely garden with vegetables, however, our yard gets the most sunlight in the middle section of the garden so it appealed to me. Nikos mentioned the work of Rosalind Creasy in her book 'Edible Landscaping,' and even gave me the book! Once I saw the ideas in the book and how they could mesh nicely with my English and French garden vibe, I realized I could have it all: a beautiful multicolored and fragrant garden with 'farm to table' capabilities. I couldn't be happier, and I highly recommend Terra Bella Landscaping for your gardening needs!

We followed that project shortly afterward with a partial transformation of our front yard, using the same plant visionary who selected plants suitable for our neighborhood next to Almaden Quicksilver Park. As time and deer performed their own transformation, it became necessary to look for a new landscape designer and a new plant visionary, as the professionals with whom we worked more than a quarter century ago no longer were available. After a couple months of searching, we came upon Robin Salsburg and her business, Vision Garden Design, who we selected to redesign our front yard and facelift our backyard. Robin proved herself both a great landscape designer and a great plant visionary, consistent with her business name. Robin prepared detailed drawings, which were easy to understand, and gave us fun homework assignments when it came to selecting plants. There were a lot of species and varieties to consider, and Robin made it simple for us to pare down the number of plants by noting which ones we loved, which ones we could live with, and which ones we hated. When it finally came time for us to implement Robin's final design, we asked her to recommend landscape contractors, and then (with her assistance) interviewed four firms. We eventually settled on K&D Landscaping, and asked Robin to oversee the project to ensure her vision was fully implemented. Robin met weekly with the contractor and us, and after two months of construction the project came out even better than her wonderful two-dimensional drawings promised. We have worked with many design professionals, and we can wholeheartedly say that Robin is among the very best. She focused on our best interests throughout the design and construction phases. Looking back on the project, we feel as fortunate as we did 28 years ago, perhaps even more fortunate because Robin has made our front and backyards better than we ever dreamed.

Since we didn't know where to start with this project, we relied on Robin's great eye for design to envision the space, and she guided us through a step-by step process to help us make all the choices from pavers to plants, so the new garden looks exactly how we hoped it would. We also had Robin facilitate the installation - a must-have service for us. She worked closely with our contractor to ensure everything was implemented according to the design. We would absolutely recommend working with Robin for whatever project awaits you. She is knowledgeable, organized, responsive, kind, and worth every penny. We could not have done this project without her!

They are an absolute pleasure to work with - very knowledgeable, very creative, conscientious about quality and budget, and friendly to be around. We collected a hodge podge of photos of gardens and landscaping that we liked. and had a couple of conversations with Larry. From that, he was able to create a cohesive design that perfectly fit our home, our needs, and our taste. We feel like we live in a resort now. Every time, I drive up to my home or go in my backyard, I have to pinch myself to believe that it is my house! Shoreline's design included redoing our pool, hardscape, softscape, building a waterfall that flows in three directions, an outdoor fire and seating, vegetable beds, drought tolerant planting, significant reduction of lawn, lighting, new driveway, and new front entrance. We hired a pool company to handle the pool (new piping, equipment, gas pipe, tiling, coping, and pebbletech finish.) Shoreline made sure that the pool company's work was seamless with the work they were doing. In fact there was an issue with the waterfall which was working off the control panel installed by the pool company. Shoreline did not want us to contact the pool company until they had redone all of their work (at their cost) to make sure the issue was not theirs (the issue was in the set-up of the control panel and should have been handled by the pool company.) Other than an electrician that we hired, all other work was done by Shoreline or the hardscape team that they often work with. Everything was supervised by Shoreline which made it quite easy for us. Everyone who comes in to our yard is impressed with the design and quality of work. Two people have asked us about holding events here! Even though the work was completed about two months ago, Shoreline Landscape comes by regularly to check out how things look, replace any plants that didn't make it, and make minor adjustments.Just today, they came by to cover our plants that need protection from the frost that is expected tonight. You can't ask for better service than that!

Larry met with us and gave us a design for our backyard that incorporated our wish list using irrigation, lighting, hardscape and plantings. We loved what he did so much, we had him continue through to the front yard as well. His team and the contractors he employed were all excellent. The BBQ, fountain and patio turned out absolutely stunning all in full range Blue Stone. All our friends and neighbors compliment us on how lovely our yard is now. One comment was that it could not be more beautiful if we had tried. We recommend Shoreline Landscape Design without hesitation.

We did not request any new mulch/bark nuggets. We have a 5000 sq. ft. lot. Doug McKinnon provided an estimate of $1200-1500 when we did an initial walk through a few weeks earlier. He called it a "clean-up." 2 laborers toiled for about 6 hours, and another showed up with a load of bark nuggets, then worked for about 2 hours at the site, pruning vines with a pole trimmer, and spreading bark nuggets. A good portion of on-site time was spent removing all the existing mulch in our gardens to create a scraped-clean surface for spreading a thick layer of new bark mulch. The irrigation system was not checked. When I shared my displeasure with the work and also asked what the ~ $30 charge from Ewing Irrigation was for, McKinnon agreed to take 20% off the job, but did not respond to the Ewing question. I wasn't going to write a critical Yelp review until he failed to answer my Ewing question. When all was said and done, a job consisting mostly of clearing existing mulch, and spreading new bark nuggets, cost $1084 (that's the discounted price).
