The air station operates the Royal Navy's latest helicopter the Merlin in addition to the ageing Sea kings. Other aircraft operate here that include Hawk jets and Jetstreams. The shop offers you the chance to sit down and look at the aircraft flying while enjoying a nice cuppa and cake. You can even buy some souvenirs in Navy aviation. A nice little facility but be warned you can never guarantee aircraft will be flying the station has 3 main 'leave' periods throughout the year and a number of the units are deployed worldwide.

Today the gallery runs seasonal mixed exhibitions and is currently offering the Spring show, perhaps one of the best shows I have seen there. Prominent artists on display include the fine impasto pieces of Margrit Clegg, the zany mixed media sculptures of Alan John and Mark Verry's well-honed wood pieces in an abstract vein. Mousehole is a picturesque fishing village on the south coast of Cornwall, just a few miles west of…read morethe market town of Penzance. It was sacked by the Spaniards in July 1595 when the entire village, apart from one house, was burnt to the ground. That house still stands today. A hundred years ago Mousehole was a bustling port, crowded with local fishing boats, landing pilchards. Each year, early in November, timber beams are laid across the narrow harbour entrance, to protect the village from the worst of the winter gales. Even so waves can still be seen breaking over the harbour wall at high tide on a strong southerly wind. This is another gem in Cornwall. Do go for a visit.
