Story is that you call in, pick a piece of unpainted pottery, loads of different design and types/prices to choose from, paint it all the mad colours/designs you like. Stephanie the owner then glazes it, fires (bakes it) in her oven and you either call in or she will post it to you after. All great fun, perfect for a rainy day in Sligo or any day in fact. Have some great mugs because of this place. Venue's like this are sometimes forgotten about but try and remember this one in Sligo. Staff are all great fun, very helpful and a bit crazy and mad! P.S. Beleek Woods are situated just off the Killala Road on the banks of the River Moy. It was part of…read morethe estate of Beleek Castle (which is now a hotel). The woodland was quite overgrown but extensive work is being done to bring Beleek back to its former glory. There are many trails for walking and cycling. Many locals use it for sports training or walking their dogs. There are some lovely view of the River Moy and the pretty houses on the other side of the river. there is an abundance of wildlife in Beleek.There are red squirels in the woods. I heard them but did not see them. However I did spot some bluetits bringing food back to their young in one of the nesting boxes in the trees. Also in the woods is a Lime Kiln and an amazing memorial to one of the owners of the castle who is buried there with his horses! A really nice place to spend some time if the day is fine.Pack a picnic :-)

The fresh air and winds blowing from the Atlantic to the west and green hills of Sligo County to the east. I saw the Rovers play against Shelbourne F.C., coached by Damien Duff, a former Fulham favorite, and finish the evening as 2-1 winners. A Seagull shat on me which the locals credited to good luck! Glad I was able to help lol. The sight lines are amazing all around and I believe 15€ gets you in. The atmosphere was quite enjoyable and the tea I had with chips and gravy was all quite tasty. If you're visiting, it's definitely worth checking out a game if you have the time.

The owner Raymond has a passion for breeding Irish Draught Horses. There is a fantastic selection of horses and ponies for all ages and sizes and abilities. As a complete beginner I set off down the track to the beach on Cooper which was a large horse but very patient. It was a fantastic experience riding along the beach drinking in the view. The staff are all very experienced and I would highly reccommend this place. We were a party of five with one child and we all got riding minutes after arrival. Caroline was a perfect (fun, friendly, and helpful) guide. We cruised across the water for a good hour, enjoyed some really good (French press!!!) coffee, and cruised back - sun in our faces. Lakes, rivers, the atlantic ocean, beaches, forests, breathtaking mountains all within 30 minutes drive or each other. Sligo Kayak tours embodies all that is great and pure about the outdoors in Sligo. Barry's ethos is to share the county with people and have them share it with him. We took a kayak trip on Lough Gill on a sunny Sunday morning. Paddling out of Half Moon Bay in the famed Hazelwood with the Ballygawley hills as a backdrop. We rounded the headland and headed west towards the Garavogue River. Herons, cormorants and some long distance swimmers were our companions on the lake that morn. Pulling in at a sheltered island edge, Barry told us the story of Beezy, a hardy old woman that lived alone on Beezie's island in an Ireland of the past. Wind and rain whipped up the surface of the lake but it doesn't matter, Sligo Kayak tours are so well kitted out that you stay completely dry. The rain stopped, sun was back out and we headed on through a jungle of bull rushes towards a small shore patch at the forests edge. Coffee break!! Barry is so well organised, he had tea, proper ground plunger coffee and cookies for 10 of us! After the break we headed back out of the river and into the lake towards Hazelwood. It was a fantastic trip and my first real kayak trip. I felt safe and relaxed at all times. He is a certified life guard and surf instructor. The team are well equipped safety wise with life jackets as standard. He carries whistles, first aid kits and a water-sealed mobile phone around his neck and there were experienced kayak instructors accompanying us also that morning. Sligo Kayak tours also do trips to the seal colony and sand bars as well as other coastal trip to other great spots. Beginner or enthusiast, these tours are special and I highly recommend them.
