We asked if they had a bottle open so we could taste it before we spent 13€. Unfortunately, there was no open bottle. We bought it anyway based on the sales woman's comments that it tasted very lovely. Got home and opened the bottle, let it breathe for a little while poured some in a nice red wine glass and drank vinegar. Yes, it tasted like vinegar! But actually the review is not about the wine itself. OK, I can accept that it wasn't a good wine but when we returned it to the shop the manager (?) said the wine tasted fine and that it was our problem. When the shop assistant suggested opening another bottle to do a taste comparison he would not allow it. No apologies, no gesture of goodwill, nothing. Although we were regular shoppers we will no longer be spending our money there.

After a year or two, though, it scaled down the interesting imports, and the Belgians, and the styles, with more space simply for the sponsor Ratsherrn beers. Now it has been completely redone, moved to a different entrance, and it is a small dark space, with prices I won't pay. This might be a reflection on the craft beer 'movement' in Germany.

Anyway, I noticed it yesterday, and realised that they sell all manner of drinks. I was interested in whether they might sell English real ales, so I went in to investigate. The answer, sadly, is no they don't, but they do sell Augustiner in crates! Hurrah! They also have a very extensive range of spirits and soft drinks. The best thing though is that they deliver! I've yet to test out the service, but if they're willing to carry a crate of Augustiners up the 5 floors to my apartment I'll give them 5 stars :) - Update: so when I was in the other day I quizzed them about the delivery service. 1 Augustiner costs 1.20. A crate of 20 costs 19.99 and to have the crate delivered it'll cost a further 3. A bargin if you live no-where near the shop, on the 5th floor and have no car...
