Regular ones with Salumi and Cheese, then the same but with boar and truffle or an all truffle cheese and meat plate. We went for the All Truffle Plate. And what an explosion of flavour that was. Great cheeses topped with Truffle honey. Truffle Mortadella and Salami. Bread with funghi/truffle topping, Truffle Porchetta etc. All products and ingredients were fantastic and far away from mass production. Nicely presented and fair priced for what you get. Staff was friendly and helpful. We also had two glasses of White Wine with. Local wine. They got a good selection. Be sure to bring some of their products home. A great place to spend a few hours. Strolling around we got quite a bit hungry. Then we came across this place. And I remembered reading good reviews about it, so we went for it. It's a mix between a small restaurant (just a handful of tables in the back) and a butchery / deli shop. There's plenty of fresh cut meats to choose from (Salami, Ham, Sausages) and it also has a good range of sweets and cookies and lots of other products. There's a good selection of cheese also. Either eat-in other take-away (bring home). We took a seat in the back and ordered a plate of cut meats with Crostinis for just 10 Euro. And a small bottle of Prosecco for 7 Euro. The meat was really good. Presentation nice. Way above you average Salami and Ham. Nice spices and flavours. Besides the sweets they also sell lots of other special italian products. Olive Oil, Limoncello and other liquors and lots of truffle products (truffle honey, truffle spread with parmesan etc.), also chutneys, jam and much more. All really good stuff! We bought quite a bunch of their products to bring home and they taste fantastic. Service / staff was really great and helpful and took a lot of time explaining their products. And - quite unusual for this kinda place - our dog was welcome too. They even brought a huge bowl of water for her. A great great place. I practically made a beeline over to this place. The employees here were super friendly and welcoming although none of them spoke a bit of English. It was so much fun to try out my Italian and communicate with them! I asked the friendly woman at the counter which pastry was her favorite and she pointed to this tasty little chocolate goodie (see photos). It was delicious and not too sweet and was the perfect accompaniment to my espresso. My husband had a latte and loved it too. The shop uses real Illy artist cups (and sells some of the older sets too if you are a collector) and has some locally made Italian candy for sale. In Volterra, you don't have to pay to sit down to enjoy your coffees as you do in the larger cities. It was a welcome change since our feet were exhausted from a long day of walking along the town's cobblestone streets. Stop in and have a tasty espresso and treat if you are in Volterra.

It sells a good selection of local products like cheese, salami, oil or different kind of liquors (like of course Limoncello) and much more. There are many products to sample. We really fell in love with their cheese. Especially the one with pears (!) impressed us very much. A nice, hard cheese with a good hint of pear flavour. Don't know how they achieved that, but it tasted absolutely lovely. Really great cheese. Some people still underestimate Italian Cheeses, this is a great shop to convince you otherwise. Other products looked and tasted good too. But we shopped a lot already that day. Maybe some other time. So, if you're in or around Volterra, check out this little gem!

If you fancy "real" olive oils and delicious wines, that is. You can purchase in bulk if you live in the area or plan to be there for a while and will be doing a lot of cooking. Fill up your jug straight from the vat. And the prices ... nothing like you'll ever see in the states. Oh, the house wines and olive oils are heavenly ... nothing like you'll ever see in the states. We had been on the trek to Greve, and not purchased anything, nor had any great experiences. On the way back to our farmhouse (Antico Borgo San Lorenzo) we stopped in town to purchase some vino for our fridge. We walked in here, and were warmly greeted by Manuela. She insisted that we come sit at the rustic table, and try some wine with her. What an experience! Before we knew it, there were 5+ bottles open - plus olive oil, balsamics & bread. We were delighted as she guided us through local wines. It was a far better experience than we had found in Greve. After an hour we realized that locals were coming in & filling their own bottles with wine - something we had never seen. They have 2 reds, and 1 white on tap to "fill your own bottle" - for 1.5 euro a liter! You can purchase a bottle there, or fill your own. We immediately emptied all of our water bottles, and purchased straw covered chianti bottles to refill with house vino. The kids filled and corked bottles for the next 30 minutes. We left with: (3) 2 liter water bottles of their premium red, a giant chianti bottle of white, several bottles we enjoyed at their table, and the BEST balsamic we've ever tasted. But the biggest thing we left with was a smile. This place is the real deal, and worth a stop if you're in the Siena area. It's a fun little local find you'll want to treasure.
