Enrico is a Pittsburgh staple that I somehow have missed over the past several years of living here. After stumbling inside while meandering through the strip the smell of chocolate and baked goods was unreal. Seriously I need Enrico's to bottle this smell and sell it. They are known for their biscotti, which was incredible. I've never had biscotti like theirs; it was soft but not crumbly, and didn't feel like you'd break your teeth off without sacrificing texture and flavor. The chocolate chip cookie I got was so flavorful and soft and delicious. My friends brownie was also excellent. I love this bakery and can't wait to come back!

Stumbled in while wandering The Strip one morning and saw the line. Figured huh- what's the buzz? Walking in, the scent of the bakery is soooooo welcoming. We got a variety of biscotti and cookies. All homemade and delicious! Only wish I had something to dip my biscotti in.

This cute little biscotti shop in the Strip is a great place to stop in and satisfy your sweet tooth. It smells amazing in here, everything is so fresh, and the employees are very friendly. I thought the prices were fair for the quality of the goods. The hardest decision you'll make is what to buy today and what to put on the back burner for your next visit.

Get one of everything!!! Stood in line and well worth it. Guest in front of us was a local and said he comes weekly for their bread. He also suggested the macaroons and any of the biscottis. Welp, he wasn't wrong!! There are plenty of intriguing options of biscotti, but there's more!! They have bread, cookies, macaroons, Buckeyes (get these), Italian cookies, and even doggie biscotti. You can tell these are all homemade. The flavors and freshness are awesome. The flavors of all we ordered - biscotti (you can get a 6 or 12 pack), peanut butter cookie, Buckeyes, Italian cookies- were beyond delicious. This is such an authentic little shop. Nothing fancy, but perfect. The line goes fast and the staff is super friendly.

I tried their biscotti last week and it was the BEST biscotti I have ever had. At first I wasn't sure but as I kept chewing I got so many different flavors of sweet and salty with a slight bitter dark chocolate flavor. They stayed fresh over the weekend and we continued to enjoy the chewy texture with our coffee in the morning while we were visiting family. I highly suggest making the trip to Penn avenue to grab a box for your next holiday or family get together.

This was once my favorite place. Took the classes and made it a stop every time we came to the strip. Today was the final time I will ever step foot into the place. Here is why. I don't carry cash anymore but this morning I took the 2 $50 bills I got for my birthday a week ago and upon seeing the little black cookbook for sale decided to buy one. I presented it at the register and the girl said $32 and some cents I don't remember. I handed her one of those 50s turned my back to see if that price was on that sign. Upon turning back around she handed me my change and I started to turn and realized that something wasn't right. In my hand was $8. I informed her that she gave me the wrong change and she says (opening the drawer) you gave me a twenty. I asked her to check under the drawer where they keep the big bills and she said that they don't do that and proceeded to show me that there were no 50 dollar bills in the drawer. They ripped me off for $10 bucks and even though that isn't much it goes to show how far this place has fallen.

My updated review is about a class we recently attended. Classes just are not what they used to be. I truly enjoyed taking these classes in the past and used to give them out as gifts .. might be time to look elsewhere :(. My sisters and I took the cookie class in December - the dinner was good (I do miss Larry's interactions and story telling -- guess we were spoiled but he made the event special and that is very much missing now). The young lady who taught the class.. just missed the mark in my opinion. Not at all engaging for a group of people spending a lot of money to take a course and many in the overall group were frustrated with the feeling she just did not want to be there (the playing on the phone and some comments made). Note- if you don't like something great! Keep it to yourself. Your teaching a class and what you are making is a staple at the bakery you represent...it's the best cookie ever made! Also .. we were supposed to get the recipes emailed .. a month later and still nothing. I get the holidays are busy but you should have those ready for the class.

Stopped in with my mom while exploring the strip since she's a big biscotti fan, and we're so glad we did! The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, and we ended up grabbing a bag of assorted end pieces so we could try a variety of flavors. Every single one of was delicious and I've been dipping them in my coffee every morning. Definitely a sweet little gem in the strip!

I took an Italian Easter pie class. We made a two pies one savory and one rice pie. Very interesting and fun class. We started out with an Italian meal for dinner that they make you and while you are eating they explain all about the Easter pies in Italy. After dinner the class begins they showed us how to make the crust and the fillings and then you do your pies all hands on. They cook them and boxed them up for us to take home. I have taken other classes that they offer an have been very happy with all the experiences I have had. They offer Bread making, Pizza, sauce, pie, cookie classes they also have dinners they offer called First Friday dinner and another one Big Italian Thowdown. They also have a Trip they do going to Italy each year all arranged with a tour guide, they don't always go to the same area in Italy each year may be a different area. I have to tell you about the store front they have on the Strip district they have the BEST most delicious biscotti I have ever had they also sell pies and cookies, focaccia's, panettone's, Easter bread (seasonal) Breads, Chocolate Babka everything is always delicious at Enrico's. Their service is excellent and staff so so friendly. I came to the class by myself and after class Trisha offer to walk me to my car (class was from 6pm-9pm) I said I would be fine but she took my phone number and text me to make sure I got to my car ok ( how nice) I highly recommended going to Enrico's for a class or shopping or for lunch you won't be disappointed!

The pecan pie is the best I've ever eaten! The crust is buttery and the filling is full of pecans with a most delicious dark molasses taste. The price is right, too!

A friend and I attended one of the bread making classes here recently and we loved every second of it -- the class begins with a brunch served family style: we had beans and greens, breakfast risotto with Italian sausage and poached eggs, pasta, bacon, pastries and salad. Coffee and wine are also served. We each made a loaf of rustic Italian bread in the brick oven, along with a focaccia with tons of topping options. Their famous biscotti and coffee were offered during one of our breaks. They tell the history of bread baking and offer tips to make your own at home. I would take another class and also recommend it to friends/

    So many choices!

So many choices of fresh delicious biscotti. I wish it wasn't 100° out, I would have tried so many more (and carried some chocolate dipped varieties back with me).

    Yum!!

We stopped by while walking around the Strip District looking for a quick lunch. Food: The tomato sauce here is probably some of the best red sauce I've had in a long time. We ordered the Caprese Panzanella, meatballs, crispy potatoes, and spaghetti with red sauce. Everything was delicious, but the salad completely stole the show for me. It was packed with fresh ingredients, bright flavors, and so many different textures that worked perfectly together. Every dish tasted fresh, simple, and executed well. Service: For lunch, you're mostly taking care of yourself, but the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming whenever we interacted with them. I'd absolutely recommend stopping by if you're visiting Pittsburgh for either lunch or dinner. Fresh ingredients, great flavors, and a fun atmosphere. It is a very cozy Italian restaurant that's serving homemade Italian food like your Nonna would make for you. We showed up on a Tuesday night and it was packed. It was around six or 6:30 in the evening and when we first got there, we were told it would be about a 20 minute wait before a two top was available. But the host came back and asked if we didn't mind sitting by the kitchen they could see us right away. We chose to sit by the kitchen, which honestly was probably the best option because it was actually a little bit quieter because there was a very large party that was celebrating a birthday and they had live music going on so it was hard to hear when you were in the main dining space but back by the kitchen it's a little bit quieter and we could actually hear ourselves talk. My husband got the penne with meatballs and the penny was nicely cooked with a beautiful tomato Bass sauce and the meatballs or some of the best Italian meatball he's ever had. His only complaint was that there were only two in the order and he wished there would've been three. I got the spinach and ricotta, stuffed ravioli, and by far one of the best raviolis I've ever had. The ravioli are large so there's only about five in a dish but they're packed fully and the flavoring and seasoning is absolutely spectacular. It's got a beautiful sauce like accompanies it and the chew you can definitely tell it is handmade pasta/ravioli. Our server, Emma was absolutely spectacular and was so kind. We truly enjoyed our experience here and would highly recommend anybody to check it out if you're in the area. But we also do recommend make your reservations ahead of time. I got to try their linguine rustica (essentially the clam pasta dish), a cappuccino, some cherry soda, and soup of the day, as well as complimentary bread. They got that bread out very quickly! Very soft, and served with quite high quality olive oil. The bottle has both olive oil and balsamic! The soup of the day was quite good as well. It was some sort of beef broth, I think may a beef and bean soup. Chickpeas in there as well. Next time, I might try the salad. The salad they have as a side is so good, an amazing portion and seems so fresh and tasty. The mains were excellent. Very good pasta with clam sauce. Lots of clam meat and a flavorful oil based sauce. My friend had some red penne with chicken and enjoyed that as well. Great portions, pretty fair prices. Finally, great drinks as well. Very memorable cherry cola that I believe the company is owned by the owner's son. Real cane sugar, very good. The cappuccino was great as well. Definitely come here!

AVP is excellent, by the way. We have been twice in the last couple of months. Front of House Team was excellent both visits. Our bartender/servers have been gracious and attentive. First visit was carbonara and beet salad; good but not life-changing. Second visit started with Frito Misto. Excellent. Bright, crispy and perfectly finished. The linguine is served with crab meat. I found it to be a glutinous mess. I'm not sure what happened in the kitchen. The mushroom side plate was under seasoned. Our friend who got the spaghetti loved it. Mushroom pasta was excellent with nicely cooked pasta and thorough mushroom taste. Our friends were very pleased with this plate. The chopped salad is perfectly dressed and is completely delicious. It was a treat. My lovely counterpart had the halibut piccata. She commented that it was "slightly overcooked." This is charitable: it was completely hammered. "It had the texture of chicken." The sauce was conspicuous by its sparsity; just not much flavor going on. She also observed that first bite was gritty, as if greens were inadequately cleaned. This dish has enormous potential, but it just wasn't delivered. This dish was palatable only by having the tomatoes on the vine as a side. My lovely counterpart on the Tomatoes on the Vine side: "I didn't love it, but it was necessary." She generally loves this sort of preparation but again, it just wasn't there. Cheesecake was great. Our server was excellent and attentive. Amanda, the assistant manager, was too busy to chat with us even though the house was mostly empty. Our table had two bottles of wine, ordered by the glass instead of by the bottle. The wine pours are staged outside of the bar, so the bartender wasn't involved. We are still at a loss to understand why Amanda was not willing to consider giving us even one of the bottles' worth at the bottle price and why she shut down our waitress when she asked. It seems like a weird hill to plant your flag on, and entirely inconsistent with our more than 30 years experience with Big Burrito. This is the first time we have experienced anything like this in a Big Burrito restaurant; truly bizarre and our poor server was clearly uncomfortable relaying the decision. We hadn't made any observations about the food to her and were having a great time even with kitchen's inconsistency. We might try again at some point: some of the dishes were great and there is clearly potential.
