At this point, I have lost faith in all ENTs convinced that's the specialty the flunkies and a-holes go in to. After having nasal infection and severe impaction, I visited this (the 5th in my journey for help). No X-rays. No lab cultures. Told me sinus'' don't bleed. Dr (plastic surgeon) said I had scar tissue and inflammation. Would not remove mucus and blood. Finally found that there was NO scar tissue. They COULD and should have cut and suctioned out the massive amount of accumulated mucus and blood, thereby eliminating a lot of pain, disfigurement and health issues. Not feeling that they don't deserve a malpractice suit. read more

Highway robbery to charge over $300 after insurance for a consultation visit. There are better and cheaper options than going here to waste your time and money. plus, the staff is unwilling to work with you. They deceitfully try to schedule follow up visits even if you don't need them so they can bilk you and your insurance company out of more money. Very predatory practice and against the hippocratic oath in my opinion to do this to people. read more

This was not a pleasant experience at all! After getting a referral from my PCP I checked with my insurance to make sure they were in network, and they were. I verified that with Athens ENT over the phone and verified my copay. I am on Social Security but not Medicare yet. I went in, sat in the exam room for 10 mins so my nose would numb so he could put a tiny scope up there. They had wanted to do an MRI before the scope, but I asked for estimate, and it was over $300. I could not afford that. He said the scope would be part of the office visit. He did the scope and wrote me an RX for nose spray. Less than 30 minutes. Less than a month later I got a bill for over $550.00 and The Insurance EOB matched. Called the insurance company and they told me that they used a surgical CPT Code and that's why it went to my deductible. I called Athens ENT and they said they did not bill it as surgical and offered to set up a payment plan (of course they did). So, Athens ENT said they didn't bill it as surgical and my insurance said they did. How can you win on this one? You can't, Beware!!! read more

My insurance was billed for a 30-60 minute appointment, and I had to pay a full appointment copay even though I only saw the doctor for less than five minutes. They gave me no opinion. Basically I paid to see the doctor for them to tell me, "Do whatever YOU think is best." I'm not the doctor... I basically paid money for them to tell me what I had already knew before going in. When I tried to schedule my allergy testing, I asked if I could have my results emailed to me because I do not have money to pay a copay for the doctor to give me my allergy test results. Every other doctor's office does this. Legally they cannot deny you test results of a test you paid for. However, the office's policy says otherwise. The office staff and doctors are nice. It is just a shame that the office policy is to make money off of people instead of actually help them. When I was trying to voice my concern on the phone and the staff could care less. I was pushed off the phone instead of actually being listened to. read more

If only I had read the reviews first. How many of us has said that?? The doctor spent maybe 17 minutes with me. He gave no opinion, no explanation, no diagnosis. He left the room and the next thing someone comes in to take me for a hearing test. Hearing test? Why? I told him that I had NO problem with hearing. (This is why Medicare is going broke.) I was sent home with prescriptions for Prednisone and Flonase. Again, no explanation. I had a follow up appointment and realized, that again, I was going to be charged for nothing. I walked out. Your experience might be different, but please ask about everything up front. read more

Do NOT recommend. They will rip you off!! Was given an amount that I owned (was never told estimated) after they checked my insurance. Just got a bill for $200+ more after payment. Plus charged me over $300 for a damn consultation they insisted we have even though I knew we were going through with the insurance. The thing that really gets me is that for the post op appointment they scheduled a telephone call which the patient didn't even need to be present for, make that make sense!! Needless to say I cancelled that cause they probably would have charged me $1,000. And clearly they don't care enough about their patients to want to see them in person to make sure they healed probably without complications. Never going back to them! read more

Was told that since I had not done the new patient paperwork (I had not been instructed to this before I arrived), I was late and that I had missed my appointment. They offered to let me wait an hour to be worked in. Very unprofessional. read more

I made an appointed on 3/18 for 4/30. They told me that if I fill out all in the info online I only need to arrive 15 minutes prior to my appointment. I fill out the info that same day, including my insurance information. The Friday prior to my appointment they called to confirm my appointment. When I arrived to my appointment at 7:58am for an 8:15 appointment they asked me to fill out all the paper work again. Red flag #1. Halfway through filling out my paperwork they informed me that as of April 1st they no longer take my insurance but if I would like to pay cash they could still see me. At no time between April 1st and April 30th did they ever reach out to let me know that they no longer take the insurance I put in my paperwork on 3/18. When they called to confirm my appointment they still did not mention that they no longer take my insurance so I could cancel. I am really disappointed in the scheduling staff and whoever handles insurance and their lack of attention to detail or communication. read more

Worst and least helpful 4 minute appt. I have ever had w a Dr. I called for an appt. to get a 2nd opinion of my thyroid bloodwork. Gal that made the appt. did not tell me that Dr. Mixon was a thryroid surgeon which he promptly told me as he walked in the room. He did not look at my blood work. Told me to find an endocrynologist. I also asked for ENT help with only being able to breath out of one nostril. He took a metal instrument, lifted each nostril, was told I had a "deviated septum", not the worst he had ever seen, but he could fix it. Never listened to my lungs, etc. Told me I had GERD and gave me an 8x10 sheet on how to not have GERD and then he left. Charge was $300 for this 4 minute appt. 1 hour drive each way and a 45 minute wait to see this Dr. I'm thinking he owes me $$. Not a fan. read more

Super pissed right now! Had my first appointment to see why my nose is always stuffy. Doctor was actually very nice and I was so hopeful he could help me. He asked a few questions, looked in my sinuses with an endoscope for about 10 seconds, and sent me with instructions. Was billed for those 10 seconds as "surgery" and now owe $422 after insurance!! Office staff was rude when I called about it and said, "that's your responsibility to you know what what your insurance is going to charge". I said, "Any reasonable patient is going to think that a look inside their nose would be PART OF an ENT visit to see what's going on! Why would I have any reason to think that that would be considered anything other than part of the exam that you already are charging my insurance $375 for? Then $525 for looking in my nose as surgery?!?" A $900 BILL FOR ABOUT 8 MINUTES?! I canceled my follow up appointment and told them I will NOT be paying that $422 bill. read more
