On June 10, I had to go to LAX to pick up my granddaughter. I had requested a convertible a week before when I went to go get it. They told me they could not get me a convertible. I told them she's going back on July 10 I would like a convertible I went in a week ago to make sure everything was going fine. I was told yes I'm picking up the car today, July 9 at 3 o'clock I just got a call telling me they could not give me a convertible. There was no convertibles around. They had a recall for all convertibles. I am highly disappointment. I don't understand why they allow us to rent these cars that they're not gonna have available and they know this. read more

Make sure you verify exact date your rental car "week" finishes, you can get short-changed a whole 24 hr day of car rental! And if your paying out of pocket, get your pricing on-line and not the "discount" price they have prearranged with local car repair shops. I was using rental car for pleasure after my car had a minor break-down while I was on vacation. This was not an insurance claim car repair. Decided to rent a car to not lose 1-2 days in Goleta of my vacation. Found out later same day that online direct pricing would have been much cheaper, than car repair shop "discount" I was given. My bad for not checking on-line first. But because I had agreed to the shop discount rental rate for one week, I was charged by calendar day for a week of car rental, rather than by 24 hour day that I would have received had I booked directly on-line for one week. Not only did I pay $10/day more than I would have for a like vehicle without any discount, I only got a 6 calendar day rental, when I asked to rent the car a week. This is the arrangement they have with repair shops for a week of car rental. Very disappointed that all Mgr could offer was a free future rental day from Goleta office, for not being told that they would NOT be billing me for a week based upon 24 hour days. Not something that someone unfamiliar with anything but pleasure rental car rentals could be expected to know when being quoted a price for one week. My bad also for not seeing the return date for a week was a calendar day earlier than I expected. But the person helping me knew the calendar day I expected to return through Goleta, and could have mentioned the different in price to rent to that day. I've seen the drivers abusing the cars by driving them vehicles very aggressively down Hollister Avenue. The drivers drive them back and forth from the car wash location and push the engines to the lead because they don't own them. Very poor behavior from these Enterprise driver/employees. read more

I booked a car with Enterprise three days in advance--a confirmed reservation, supposedly guaranteed. On the day of pickup, I got a call informing me that the car wasn't available at the original location. Already unacceptable. Customer service told me to go to the airport location, where a Jeep would be waiting for me. I made the trip--out of my way--expecting the situation to be resolved. Instead, I was met with zero accountability and a manager who was shockingly rude. Even after I showed my reservation confirmation and explained that Enterprise's own customer service had directed me there, the female manager at the airport coldly dismissed me. She told me, with attitude, that they were "not responsible" for what another location said and offered no apology, no car, and no help. This wasn't just a mistake--it was a complete breakdown in communication, coordination, and professionalism. Being stranded after doing exactly what Enterprise instructed is bad enough. But being treated with such disrespect by someone in a managerial role is disgraceful. Enterprise failed to deliver the one thing they promise: a reserved car. And they doubled down on that failure with terrible customer service. Never again. I won't be giving Enterprise another chance--and neither should you. Let me be clear: a reservation is a commitment, not a vague suggestion. I planned my entire day, my appointments, and my travel around this car. Be careful of these guys! Rented a car at 4:00 in the afternoon after I dropped off our car next door to get worked on the next day. Was advised that the car would need to be returned by 4:00 the next day and I would be charged for a day. Repair wasn't done in time. Called Enterprise and advised needed one more day. No problem. Dropped rental back by 4:00 second day and was charged for THREE! No explanation other than that was what I signed for. My trust that what was agreed at the counter was not what was signed. My spouse and I take little getaways as often as we can. This recent trip was to take the Amtrak from Fullerton, CA, to Goleta, CA, rent a car, and enjoy the coast from Goleta to San Simeon. Prior to our Amtrak departure, I contacted the Enterprise office in Goleta, CA, and spoke with Cameron (site manager?) to arrange a pick-up from the Goleta Amtrak station to the Goleta Enterprise office. He instructed us to call for a pick-up once we arrived. We arrived at the Goleta Amtrak station, called the Goleta Enterprise office (again, spoke with Cameron) and was informed a driver will be there shortly. A Enterprise staff member picked us up and drove us to the Hollister Avenue location. Note, this team member even offered to help out our luggage in the trunk. Cameron took care of us at the office regarding the rental contract. Our rental vehicle was available immediately outside the office entrance. I would estimate no more than two steps outside the front door. Return process slightly different as the rental return area is farther inside the shared business environment property. Cameron, again, in the front office checked us out and asked if we were satisfied with the vehicle. It was fine. He also made arrangements for us to be taken to Goleta Amtrak station. Note, the same staff member who brought us to the office, helped us back to Goleta Amtrak. Again, offered to assist with placing luggage in the car trunk. What can I say? My experience with Goleta Enterprise Rent-A-Car was awesome. Cameron, and his team provided a stellar level of customer care at check in and check out. In a nutshell, I/we experienced an Enterprise Rent-A-Car pocket of excellence. I just wish all my encounters with tourism / travel businesses had this type of customer care signature. I was involved in an accident at the fault of somebody else last week. their insurance claimed full liability (luckily). After dropping my car off on the scheduled date at Gerber & Collision, they had already had it set up for enterprise to be at the autobody shop and get me immediately set up with a rental car there and Jeff was very helpful. Another man helped me and got me started on a vehicle (forgot his name) and then switched me over to one that I more described that I wanted. I'm now driving a volkswagen golf which I LOVE and this process was such a breeze in what was otherwise a headache of a situation. 10/10 customer service. read more

Raced out to airport before they closed and the said they had no cars available regardless of my online reservation. Then went by Hollister office and was told Nope. She asked me if I had a debit card or major credit card! I told her I had a debit card. She the said, "Oh we don't have any luxury vehicles available." She sounded suspect. After three separate visits to this location, I have no plans to return or recommend this location to friends or family. I had a particularly negative experience today, Tuesday 12/4/18, with the Assistant Manager, Arthur Grimm. I rented a 2016 Chevy Malibu for exactly one week. My insurance, USAA, covered the rental. The car was not great (older model, no rear view camera, smelled like cigarette smoke, and the windshield wipers sucked in the surprise rain we got), but I dealt with it for one week while my car was being repaired next door at Prestigious. Tonight I went to return the car and was surprised when Arthur noticed some damage along the passenger side rocker panel (the bottom thingie beneath the doors between the front right and rear right tire). I was surprised since I only noted damage near the headlights when I initially inspected the car. We walked out to the car in the parking lot and looked at it together. I told him that I honestly wouldn't have noticed it while inspecting the car as you need to kneel down low to notice, and I was looking for more visible dents/scratches when inspecting the car before renting it. I told him that I'm an honest person, and if I had dinged up a rental car, I would had admitted it and told him right away. It's the truth. We were outside for about 2 minutes when he just turned away and left. He didn't tell me where he was going, or invite me back into the office. He just freaking left me alone in the parking lot next to the rental car. So I walked back inside the shop, asked him what happens next, and he said his manager would take over. His manager, Deivi Ramirez, then took over. He treated me fine, thank goodness. He said the damage was minor, it would be repaired, and I didn't need to worry about being charged for it. But I was very upset about the accusation and the way that Arthur just left me in the freaking parking lot. Who does that? Also, I am sure that a car body shop expert can determine the age of the damage, and they will know it wasn't obtained in the last week while I had it. I have absolutely zero intention of returning here, and I will find a better rental car location at Santa Barbara Airport if I need to rent a car again. read more

I'm pretty disappointed with Enterprise today to say the least. I've been getting rental cars from them for quite some time but it seems as if the service has just gone way down hill. Bret was really sweet when I had entered but you could tell he was really flustered as it seems as if he was training two other new guys. I've been there and done that so I wasn't too worried about getting too much out of the new guys. It's been awhile since I've had to rent a car through Enterprise so I kind of forgot how the process works. I left with absolutely no paperwork and no clear idea of what to expect to be honest. I don't know if I'm supposed to pay for the gas, what I even paid as I didn't get a copy of my receipt. Normally in the past they give me a paper copy of everything including the damage chart. I didn't even get asked if I wanted insurance or anything either. Seemed as if they just assumed since I had my own I didn't need coverage. Adrian was the one who showed me around to the cars and I could absolutely tell he was new and very anxious and nervous. I told them I did not want a mustang as the first time I got one from them it was a bad experience. The first car he showed me was super dirty and reeked of cigarettes. I'm going on a long trip this weekend and I know for a fact I would not be able to stand the smell. The second car he showed me was a small compact car which was fine until he turned the engine on and service lights popped up. This started to get frustrating as I had to return to work and still had no car. I'm not sure why the cars aren't inspected prior to walking a client out to view them. I told him that if I had to take the mustang I will because I needed to get back to work. Turns out his coworker had already took the mustang for someone else so it wasn't even available to begin with. Here I am not stuck with this truck that is much much larger than my own car. Gas is going to be terrible and I'm just so frustrated I don't even want to come back. He told me he would call me to see if there was another car to swap it out with but I'm not counting on it too much. At this point I'm leaving out of town tomorrow and need a new vehicle ASAP. I should've went with Hertz originally because this whole experience is so frustrating considering that I called the beginning of the week to make sure everything would be smooth and effortless. My past experiences have been fine but today was definitely not. Carlos and his team are top notch unfortunately I have had a couple of my cars in the shop for some lengthy periods of time. Enterprise generally has a decent amount of cars at there disposal and when they don't they try to make things work with cars that are at other shops. One of the times I had a very specific request where I needed a larger car that wasn't a minivan and they hunted a SUV for me down. Then let me swap it out for a different car three times do to changing circumstances all the while being very professional and very quick to take care of me. read more

I've rented from this location a number of times. Good quality and service overall. I like that the store is located on the main drag in Goleta versus the airport, as it's convenient to my workplace and the 101 freeway. The selection is limited, so I'd recommend placing your reservation online in advance. This is also good to do, as one can typically find promo codes for a small percentage off the rental. Service at the front desk is good, though the staff are typically inundated with phone calls and other customers' requests. I suppose that this is normal for the rental car industry, so I'm not knocking on it. The rental process is pretty smooth and straightforward. If you reserve online, it will relieve you a lot of time in having to fill out paperwork. The representative will hard-sell you on upgrading to their add-on packages, though I've never had an issue when declining the said services. I appreciate how they will walk out to the vehicle with you and inspect for any "golf ball-sized" blemishes, as well as allow you to inspect the interior in their presence. There was one occasion where I watched a customer return their rented vehicle, state to the rep that the gas had been filled up, and then in turn, the same car was immediately passed over to me. No inspection, no clean-up. The interior had crumbs and smelled like fast food, and the exterior was fairly dirty as well. I thought that this type of practice was rather funky, but I was on a time crunch that day so didn't complain. All in all, not a bad place if you're in need of a low-cost vehicle rental. They were not willing to help find something else with one of their corporate partners and said I could have a sedan or an SUV 5 hours later and there was nothing else they could do. Not your first bad review, Arthur! From the beginning of my experience with Golita/Hollister rent-a-car, I've been more that disappointed. Arthur, I believe is the assistant manager, and doesn't seem to understand his own business or business etiquette. I'm not on the contract, per se, however, I am an authorized driver and provided my financial security with my credit card. I had to make a second call to Arthur for his errors. His response, "you're not on the contract and I don't have to talk to you." CLICK! That's okay....my complaint to corporate has been escalated and I'll be receiving a call soon. Hopefully, they'll provide you some well-earned pointers on how to handle upset clients, in addition to some other communication skills. Discussing the contract in the rain wasn't a great idea, either. Or how about the email informing my son he owed over $500.00 for 8 days. read more

Updated. The Staff has changed unfortunately and they suck. They'll try to up your charges by always suggesting is insurance.. Don't take it if you have your own. You're actually covered if you have your own insurance which all drivers have. Check in this time took about 15 mins, bc one person was manning the front desk. So annoying. Not only that, I could have returned my car to the enterprise and the SB airport, BUT they suggested not to do so bc it's a 54 dollar charge.. On them. Guy was on his phone texting when he had two of us waiting in line. Next time I'll be going to the enterprise at the airport. Sorry to see that this rental place sucks. read more

Awful experience. Beware of Enterprise. My dealership called in a free rental for me to this place while my car was being worked on. The staff was friendly. Their business practices are atrocious. I was blamed for damage I didn't cause. Unfortunately, I didn't see it upon checking out the vehicle. They even asked for a $50 administrative fee on top of the damage bill to process the claim. A friend is going through the same thing I just did with another Enterprise location. I would rather walk 10 miles uphill to and from work each day than rent from this business again. This location deserve a five stars! I got the rental car through an auto body shop, Brent came promptly to deliver the car all the paper works ready. He was very friendly, accommodating and explain everything in detail. A week later, Brent helped me again when I returned the car at the Enterprise. Check out was fast, he got the paper work that I need (even made extra copies for me) and asked me if I need a ride without me asking first. I would say this is the probably the best rental car agency I have ever been to. Thank you for the excellent customer service skills. read more

This place is a joke. My wife rented a car for one week while her car was being repaired. She forgot her sunglasses in the sunglass compartment. Okay so that's our fault. When she realized half an hour later and called them the car had already been rented. She asked if they had been checked for her sunglasses or other items they said yes and they didn't see him so they assumed she lost them somewhere else. Three weeks later Enterprise called back and said they had my wife's sunglasses and we could come pick them up. I stopped by a few days later since we had been out of town on vacation. Surprise, surprise no one could find the glasses! they said they donated them to Goodwill cause we didn't come pick them up. Really? They had her contact info because she had called repeatedly and they weren't cheap glasses they were $200 Ray-ban's. Needless to say I'm sure one of them is wearing them right now. I rented a car from Enterprise while mine was in the shop on a Monday morning. It took about an hour to get a car because the few members of the staff that were there seemed to be very busy and not well organized. Enterprise did not seem to have all of my information and insisted on billing me when they should have billed the insurance company. I went back on Wednesday morning during the same week to return the 2011 VW Jetta that I rented. When I walked in there were no lines, told them I had to return a car and was helped right away. While the guy was helping me he took a phone call, stopped what he was helping me with and started renting a car with the customer on the phone!!! Another employee took over my return and got me a ride back to the auto body shop which was literally a minute away. While I was at the shop I realized I forgot something in the car at Enterprise and drove back merely 15 minutes later to retrieve my item. When I walked in they seemed very eager to help me, and went to look for my Bluetooth speaker. He came back with nothing. We both looked, I showed him the indents on the driver side visor and he said he didn't see anything. The Enterprise employee told me that the only other person that went through the car was the car washer and that, "he is usually very good at returning things". He then went on and told me a that if he did find anything he would call, but that there was nothing else that he could do nor did he know what to do. To make a long story short, I left a personal item in an Enterprise rented car, it was not returned or they "couldn't find it", and I will never go back to that business again! read more

These guys seem to be getting a lot of heat on the reviews, but I thought I'd chime in with my 2c, maybe it'll paint a fuller picture. I used to live in Santa Barbara, recently I've moved down to Santa Monica. My car got rear-ended and had to go to the shop, so Insurance paid for a rental. Just in time for my trip to San Francisco, great *eye roll*. Car was OK, I shrugged and made it up to Santa Barbara when the engine light/oil change light came on. I stopped by this location and let them know what was going on, and that I didn't feel safe driving the car another 400+ miles on the maintenance lights. The manager on duty (she seemed to be in charge, forgot her name!) took care of me quickly, right after satisfying what looked like a waiting room full of snobby pissed off customers that were angry about trivial things. They should have tried that stuff at the Santa Monica location, they would have been kicked to the curb! She promptly adjusted my rental contract, and Brad was super helpful in showing me what they could offer me (they were low on stock at the time). Overall a really warm and awesome experience. Rented a car while mine was in the shop. They picked me up, and staff was friendly enough but seemed generally uninterested in their jobs. I got a really nice 2010 Jetta. It was a blast to drive, and renting it was easy and painless. They gave me the car w/ 5/8 tank of gas though, which makes bringing it back with the same amount difficult. I was going through my insurance company to pay for the rental, and I was asked for and gave enterprise my claim number several times so they could bill the insurance company. I am still not entirely sure that the billing went through; I returned the car yesterday and am waiting to see if the deposit on my credit card is refunded. When I returned the car, they were busy and understaffed.... only was employee was not on lunch break, and I had to wait about 25 minutes to return the car. So basically... expect a long wait depending on when you go in, and make sure to see that you are billed properly. sigh.... read more
